...a SHOPPING TROLLEY

A new supermarket has opened about 5 mins walk from our house and it seems like the eco thing to do.

Dh is mortified

Got it from Lakeland in Paul Smith-styley stripes (or so I'm trying to kid myself)

OMG middle age has arrived...

This works for me

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 06/04/2009 00:41

mine looks a bit like this one, just more flowery and less silver, lol.... mine was only like £12 though

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 06/04/2009 00:42

itchy, that 3rd link is like Trolleyporn

LastOrders · 06/04/2009 00:43

Seriously though, I have a fold up bag with collapsable wheels that folds into itself like this

Its great and folds down into a small sack when not in use.

I don't care if people laugh at me wheeling along with my spuds in it, its my own little eco trip!

LastOrders · 06/04/2009 00:45

@ trolley porn.

I'm getting a walker with a seat so I can park my arse when I get half way down the high street.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 06/04/2009 00:54

lol LO...

funny thing when I was on Placement recently (am an Occupational Therapy Student), talking to an elderly Lady and advising her on things she could possibly use to make life easier...she mentions shopping as a problem....me...oh those Shopping Trolleys are fab....she: nah, not old enough for one of those, they are for ancient people....cue me : Oh I have one and am loving it and I don't care what others say...it means I can get done shopping for a household of 5 and don't have to use the car...
bless her she was so embaressed....had to re-assure her that I really didn't mind her comment (I am about 25+ years her junior, lol)
I just thought it was funny...

I load mine with the shopping and then unload it all at the till.

I do show the inside to the assistant though, just to prove I haven't stashed loot at the bottom

LastOrders · 06/04/2009 01:32

I may take DS to school in ours after the Easter Holidays

andirobo · 06/04/2009 08:31

There is a lady up our road who has several, and she brazenly walks down the road with it and her pre-school child in tow, sho oftern pulls one along as well! She has a bright one with oranges on and a black and white one! Couldnt do it myself though! The norm here is to get a taxi home with your shopping - local large shop is max 5 miles away from loads of people, so only costs £3 or £4 to get home!

HaventSleptForAYear · 06/04/2009 10:28

I thought you meant an actual supermarket trolley (you know, like the link picture with the bike!).

We have a couple of those trolleys that we bought when we lived within walking distance of a supermarket.

They are great for outdoor markets too

You know, I was considering getting a shopping trolley as I love the shopping tray on my buggy but prefer the sling for ease of getting around... Hmm.

itchyandscratchy · 06/04/2009 13:57

Am fully prepared for the rest of my neighbourhood to follow suit very soon when they see my mean machine.

Think it folds pretty flat for shopping whilst in the supermarket than can pop it up to load the stuff.

(Cautionary note to self: remember to only use trolley when wearing make-up, hair brushed and dressed properly so that I can, a all time, be recognised as Yummy-Eco-Mummy and not skanky tracky-wearing bag-lady)
