Smart trainers for office?

I can’t be bothered to wear anything other than comfortable shoes to work.

What trainers would you recommend that pass as “smart enough” for the office?

None they are trainers. No matter how ‘smart’ I just don’t think they are office attire.

I know I know, I should wear proper shoes. But reality is I wear boots in winter and trainers in summer, so looking for the best option 😁

Have you considered Runnng Spikes? There is a wide range of colours and styles, and have the added bonus of providing tremendous grip for a really fast dash when leaving the office at the end of the day.

It depends on how laid back your office is but I’m the same - I wear boots in winter and trainers in summer. At the moment I’m wearing cream/light beige Handball Spezials. They’re neutral enough to look reasonably put together and go with trousers and dresses. They do get a bit grubby though as they’re suede. Otherwise I wear white Vejas.

Disagree, Adidas style trainers look good with wide leg trousers, converse with dresses etc

They definitely are! I don't think anyone in my office wears horrible hard shoes any more. Yuck.

Clark’s leather “trainers”

I have a lovely pair of pistachio coloured Vejas. They may be a bit old fashioned but I love them!

Puma Palermo in white/black

Dallasdays · 14/06/2026 22:26

Superga

Watercooler · 14/06/2026 22:28

I wear skechers zingers I think they're called. Usually black ones. I am not a brand person though.

Nitgel · 14/06/2026 22:30

Agree Superga. Most people wear trainers in the office now.

I’ve been wearing Adidas VL court trainers with the bold platform. I’ve got a few colours and I last wore a baby blue suede pair with a white and blue summer dress the other day to the office.

I always feel a bit ‘eek I’ve got trainers on!!’ but I just ensure the rest of me is dressy (which I like doing) and nobody has ever said a word. I’m just done with actual shoes

I nearly bought some of these. I like a chunky sole as I’m short. Are they light/comfy? I’ve got some adidas nizza but I find the sole quite heavy and unforgiving when walking to the station 🤔

I am also done with proper shoes. 👟 I keep a pair in my locker in the pretence that I might one day change out of trainers when I get to work, but I never have.

These are great. Really neat looking and very comfortable. Excellent price too. Look good with trousers and jumpsuits etc. https://www.next.co.uk/style/st246443/c46774

Follow up thought - what socks are people wearing with their work trainers…?

OP posts:
Pistachiocake · 14/06/2026 22:56

If you're wearing wide/bootleg trousers, just any in the same colour work-it's not obvious they're trainers from a distance. Or with skirts, speedcat ballet look nice.

EeewDavid12 · 14/06/2026 23:14

Air and grace do a great range of really comfy trainers that look tidy enough for the office. I often wear mine to work.
