Smart trainers for office?

I can’t be bothered to wear anything other than comfortable shoes to work.

What trainers would you recommend that pass as “smart enough” for the office?

They don’t have to be hard shoes and they don’t have to be trainers.

There are a lot of women suddenly wearing kitten heels around London. I can't understand why you'd do that to yourself. It looks so uncomfortable.

I guess it's how people feel in heels. For me they are very comfortable, so are espadrilles, so are wedges......I find ballet flats awful - each to their own. Kitten heels to me are very comfy.

Ballet flats are awful. But I must have seen 20 women wearing kitten heels last week in the space of 400 yards and none of them looked elegant as they rolled their ankles trying to negotiate escalators and pavements. They also damage your spine. I'll be sticking to trainers!

Hoff have a great range; different styles and colours. Extremely comfortable.

Darker colour ones and not any that look like 'sports shoes' are much smarter than white/light colour ones or Nike style ones, which aren't 'office smart'.

Yeah again it's a personal thing - have been wearing heels to work my whole career and have never rolled an ankle - you would think though for navigating long walks they would change their shoes at work if that impractical. I wonder if less people wear heels now so they aren't used to it anymore.....

I have very dull, middle aged New Balance trainers for work.
I hate them but was desperate. And they are pretty neutral.

Another vote for Adidas, I've got Samba, Campus and Spezials that I regularly wear to work, also wear my NB 574's in green and navy

Those or classic black with white swish puma do me. Very much the shapes that have already been suggested.

I’ve been wearing trainer socks but will stretch to an ankle sock but only if they’re covered up. I’m 43 and refuse to do the grandad look.

I don't get the point of kitten heels. I don't mind a high blocks heel but kitten heels on the london underground is asking for trouble.

Most of these suggestions will look fine whilst the shoes are new, but that's not the same as smart. Which doesn't matter at all if they're in line with dress code requirements, but I find it bizarre that according to MN the only things that aren't trainers must be uncomfortable (and indeed that all trainers are comfortable, which isn't true either!).

Loafers, deck shoes or other flats would also work well and actually look smart (if that is what is needed).

Brown/ burgundy Adidas look good. I haven't seen many people wearing shoes in the office for quite a while.

As PP, I have burgundy Spezials and wear them quite often to the office - my very stylish Italian colleague wears exactly the same pair too! And the VL courts are great with longer wide-leg trousers.
