Yesterday I entered the dark and mysterious world of PLAYMOBIL

dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

Effie that is all a bit worrying really. Gladiators and lions and winos I can take but a little playmobil guy detecting bombs

Betty, I like the sound of your ds

Well, I was buying playmobil sets for dp long before ds's came along... She swore she'd never let them play with it so I knew she loved them when she did!

We keep ours in various tins - let all the bits mix up! So far it's lasting a few years (plus dp of course), so yes, you'll probably be buying lots more sets in future.

Slubberdegullion · 08/04/2008 19:50

Oh I think I need to have a son now. The whole crane/armed robbery/bulider set up sounds a whole lot more fun than a pony show.

there are safecrackers

DS might be a bit young yet...

piratecat · 08/04/2008 19:51

arrrh,
we have a pirate ship, more teeny weeny gund and sword than is needed to stock an armoury. Oh and the coins from the treasure chest, omfg, they are the work of the devil,

We also have a playpark, with flowers so small you could inhale them and not notice.

The piratecat household has lots of plastic boxes. icecream tubs housing the plastic.

I am anal and keep it all together. Not forgetting the littlest pet shop stuff, the kitty in my pockets,. the mega blocks pirate stuff, the lego, and so so much more.

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 19:51

don't show her the bunnies range whatever you do

(unless I am missing something and the sets come with a shotgun)

piratecat · 08/04/2008 19:52

i have a girl who likes the boys stuff much more!!

Nemoandthefishes · 08/04/2008 19:53

DS[4.6] and dd1[2.4] both love playmobil..it is in a large box however ds is anal and has it all seperated into appropriate bags

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 19:53

most disturbing

a giant bunny in lederhosen

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 19:53

As a child of the 80's I had LOADS of playmobile stuff - operating theatre, gymkana, circus and others.... ended up selling it for pennies... probably to buy glitter nail varnishes and such like

I'm already coverting this stuff...ds is only 11 months

Rowlers · 08/04/2008 19:56

what do you actually do with the stuff though?
apart from pick it all up from every nook and cranny it finds its evil way into?

Slubberdegullion · 08/04/2008 19:58

Oh that bunny with back pack is deeply horrid. The dds would love it

cod, do you mean that it's just a giant pita to put all the little pieces back together to complete the look?

I trod on an almost massless pony bridle this afternoon and it was fine.

Effie, pmsl as dd5 has one of those with the bunny wearing the german flag coloured leiderhosen.

Her grandparents are German tho!!

piratecat · 08/04/2008 20:01

I must find and post my photo of dd's playmobile people, and how they looked after she took a black permanent marker to their faces.

fight fight fight-springs to mind.

Nemoandthefishes · 08/04/2008 20:01

Ds sets up all sorts of scenes with his but all of a sudden we seem to have tons of the stuff..started with a rescue helicopter and boat and its just grown and grown..we have the police car.quad and motorbike along with the crime scene set
Red dragon castle with added on dragon, prince and princess etc etc
Ambulance and hospital room along with umpteen figures who need bandages
a post man set
a viking ship
a farm playset [ have the farm stashed for christmas for dd1]
probably more stuff I cant think of

Kathyis6incheshigh · 08/04/2008 20:06

This has all the Playmobil ever (except possibly the trapper, I'm not sure.)

You will find my wino under 'dollhouse'. He is number 5504 and he has a lovely park bench to sleep on and a policeman to arrest him.

Slubberdegullion · 08/04/2008 20:07

Nemo there is a CSI set How does that work then?

I really am amazed at all of this btw. I thought it was pretty much pirates, firemen and the odd horse.

OP posts:
Troutpout · 08/04/2008 20:07

i don't ours..it comes apart to easily and then seems to loosen with age so comes apart even more easily.
I may be a good idea to try and keep it set up rather than breaking the larger pieces down for storage.

Troutpout · 08/04/2008 20:07

I don't like ours

Slubberdegullion · 08/04/2008 20:09

Kathy OMFG there he is!

That pre WWI German looking police officer is looking tremendous.

BettySpaghetti · 08/04/2008 20:14

Sounds like Slubberdegullion is going to have lots of Playmobil on her Xmas list this year

Kathyis6incheshigh · 08/04/2008 20:15

It's all very gritty really.
