Yesterday I entered the dark and mysterious world of PLAYMOBIL

dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

Hmm - 30 miles - for not-half-price.... and would need to be explained to DH

I think I shall stick with the TP Toys factory shop in Stourport - small, friendly, and a Playmobil platinum stockist so they have everything

BettySpaghetti · 17/04/2008 21:59

Have you decided if you're coming to the meet-up Stealth? You really should you know

BettySpaghetti · 17/04/2008 22:00

oops sorry, just realised you've posted on the other thread

stealthsquiggle · 17/04/2008 22:01

Still dithering. I better log off now as DH is looking daggers. I will try and make a decision tomorrow!

MerlinsBeard · 18/04/2008 11:54

I got my cataogue this mornining and there are some sale items in because of box damage. you have to ring the customer service number and its first come first served. Would be easier to tell me if you are looking for anything and i will tell you if its on the list lol!

MimieD · 18/04/2008 14:36

They don't happen to have the Modern Living house on there???

stealthsquiggle · 18/04/2008 17:27

After last summer's floods our local Playmobil mecca had a "flood damaged castle" - it was actually just the box that was damaged, but I was PMSL at visions of the king and queen with buckets and mops and filling in their playmobil insurance claim (which would of course generate a requirement for a playmobil insurance assessor)

SoMuchToBits · 18/04/2008 17:34

Ds's lifeboats would be busy evacuating everyone if we had a flood!

LIZS · 18/04/2008 17:42

ds' horse has a broken leg

Slubberdegullion · 18/04/2008 17:50

The giant stag is back terrorising the pony collective atm.

lol @ playmobil insurance assessor

The more I think about it, the more a generic "man in suit with clipboard" would come in handy. After all, the builders probably would hate need a building inspector, the shop could have some pratt one doing market research, the farm could have a 'man from MAFF'....

LIZS you will be needing the new, only-available-in-Germany (and France?) vet's surgery, then.

Slubberdegullion · 18/04/2008 18:03

LIZS there is a fawn in the catalogue with a broken leg that has been very neatly bandaged. As I am now fully up to speed on multiple small parts in playmobil, there is a good chance that the bandage is removable and had big quadruped universal sizing.

Stealth, Norman says he already has a clipboard, and he doesn't need another man with one coming along to stop him drinking tea check his building works.

LIZS - Bossy Ross broke his leg once (actually Grandad stood on it!) but we managed to mend it with superglue. He made a full recovery.

SoMuchToBits · 19/04/2008 13:33

This morning Bossy Ross and the firemen lifeboatmen have been doing some training in the swimming pool.

LIZS · 19/04/2008 16:04

Horse currently recuperating !

Think I've let them watch too many Grand Designs - crane and builders have been commissioned to reroof the pavillion !!

MerlinsBeard · 19/04/2008 19:23

modern living house is not on there

grande mansion is though

FunkyGlassSlipper · 19/04/2008 21:05

OMG - catalogue came today. DH and I v impressed. we are going to leave it lying around for DD1 to look at tomorrow to see what she likes best. DH thinks she will like the circus. I think she will like the fairy castle.

DH loves the romans and I love most of it .

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/04/2008 08:09

She liked the circus.
She liked the magic castle.
She loved the fairy set

She used to be a real tomboy

hewlettsdaughter · 21/04/2008 18:01

Was anyone else annoyed at the stereotyping in the letter which accompanied the catalogue?

"We have ranges to suit boys, like Pirates, Knights and Car World, and girls including Fairies, Pony Farm and Water Park."

I suppose they did say that Circus and Dinosaurs were "great unisex ranges".

SoMuchToBits · 22/04/2008 17:11

My ds quite likes the Water Park sets!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 26/04/2008 20:12

I got DD the Fairy Rickshaw today. She is very happy. Alas, the Blue Marlin has been relegated but it means I can play with it

FunkyGlassSlipper · 11/05/2008 17:59

I cant believe I killed such a prolific thread with talk of playmobil fairies

clouded · 13/05/2008 11:56

What would be the upper age limit for play mobile? Obviously older children will play with younger child's toy, but as a present for a ten yr old girl say, would she be insulted?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 14/05/2008 11:15

I would have said about 8-9. But then my DD is only 4 so not speaking from experiemce
