It's rather spectacular! .

I'll load up a few pics of the inside in a mo, as I know a few people want to have a nose.

It's from this company who make tonnes of amazing bespoke playhouses .

A special thanks to prufrock, who made us aware of this company.

Nah, I couldn't give a shit

Am not materialistic!

My sis and my SIL have just moved into new houses within a couple of weeks of eachother.

Their houses are lovely, but neither have children, well, (my sis has a 9yr old who doesn't mess apart from her own room!) I visit them, and enjoy the clean smell and the tidiness, then come home to my own version of hell

I live on a farm and my kids get to play outside, they watch lambs being born, they dig potatoes with their grandad, they go for drives on country lanes in tractors.. pure joy!!

I actually surprise myself that I'm not green with envy at other people's things, but I guess some people are different

noddyholder · 20/05/2007 15:41

My dp has us in hysterics when he describes the rocking horse his dad presented him with for xmas one year made out of an old chair with a mop head That was taking resourceful to a new level i think xx

Nemo2007 · 20/05/2007 15:43

I dont see the point in getting jealous or shooting someone down. I live in a small 3 bed semi with 3 children. They are all happy as are we, there are people out there who would kill for what we have then there are people out there who would look and wonder why we have 3 children in such a small house..each to their own!!

DevilsAdvocado · 20/05/2007 15:43

My da and 3 brothers worked all summer one year, buying wood and hammering it all together to make a playhouse for myself and my sister.

They felted the roof and the floor, they painted it blue and the roof black, my big brother made window boxes and my mum made curtains.

we spent years playing in that house!! years and years!!!!!!!!!

Even our friends said we were the luckiest girls in the square.

Until one day we asked our mum to help us tidy, as toys had been left out and it just got too messy. Mum started to tidy when we were at school, and she opened a drawer and out her hand in ti lift out a teddy, but instead it was a rat... a dead rat that was as hard as a board

Our house now holds hens on my uncles farm

misdee · 20/05/2007 15:45

actually i am just envious of the fact the playhouse has stairs, and i dont have any stairs lol.

MellowMa, yours sounds lovely!

I just keep remembering the fun we had that summer, even watching the boys and dad building it!

Mellowma, ! it souns lovely.

edam · 20/05/2007 16:06

Ok, I can get you payslips, bank and personal references - how much rent do you want and when can I move in?

edam · 20/05/2007 16:11

Warning: the link to the company selling these playhouses brought up a window telling me to install something called Drivecleaner to clean up my hard drive. Sounds virus-y.

EvilSmellingBugger · 20/05/2007 16:18

I had that too Edam - very suss. Mentioned my pc containing adult sites

hatwoman · 20/05/2007 16:21

that's strange - I had some blurb pop up about adult sites - but it was last nigt - clicked on a link about pyjamas, iirc.

Well, I'd like to thank csws. Whenever I get slated now for spending £425 on the boys' playhouse, I can now come back with 'ah, but my friend...' And I see our one as a potential reading place for me, when the boys have grown up

FWIW, csws is loaded, but not overly ostentatious. She would never rub anyone's nose in the fact of her money/their lack of. In fact, she's very kind and generous. But just spoiling her one and only because she waited so long to have her

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/05/2007 22:25

Awww, bless you mrm.

wouldn't it be great if we still had the kind of skills in our families that allowed grandad or dad or uncle or aunt or grandma to make this sort of thing for our kids. would be good wouldn't it?

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/05/2007 22:33

Yes that would be truly wonderful Sophable.

My dad has taken up woodwork a bit since retiring from his long term career, and did manage to make a picnic table for dd, which is great .

OP posts:
beckybrastraps · 20/05/2007 22:42

Ah now my family do have that kind of skill.

We don't have enough space for something like this, but dh can turn his hand to all sorts of exciting projects. He loves it.

PippiLangstrump · 20/05/2007 22:53

I havent got many expensive things but I have an expensive kettle too, which is beautiful but soooo slow DH hates it. but I love it so it stays!

we had two playhouses, one standing on poles with a ladder to go up. the three of us would sleep there with the dogs. it was only 100 yeard from the house but felt such an adventure. another the uglier wersion of franca's link. were made by local handyman so nothing fancy and rather more castaway style (which suits the pippi in me! )

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/05/2007 22:57

Wow - I didn't realise those kettles were so expensive pippi - We have one of those too I think, that we were bought by friends .

(We have a range that does all the heating/water too, so can't boil the kettle without heating the house up at least a little, so don't use it in summer).

I really like the Alessi kettle. Ended up with a Dualit in the end, but still hanker after that one with the little bird whistle.
