Bored of contents of make-up bag - any suggestions

Just looking through my make-up bag this morning and decided that I have gone off some of the things in it really. Usually use Clinique but have recently bought a few No7 things and decided that they suit my skin better now I am getting older . I am 30 on Sunday and have decided I need making over pronto. What brands are good these days, as it has been ages since I have really been to a make-up counter and bought something as I usually rely on people to buy me things as birthday/christmas presents. Suggestions would therefore be very grateful.

tee hee, thought that would liven things up a bit

I need all the help I can get, but Dh would think the baby had hives if I kissed him with lipstick on, and you are not going to tell me not to kiss my fragrant boy are you?

I don't wear make up either, and most of my clothes are worn unironed. In my defence I do always have clean hair ! I can't wear make up daily anyway, it plays havoc with my skin (blocks my pores and gives me spots). Plus it helps me feel special when I put it on for a night out, even then I don't go the whole hog.

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 17:07

coddy - how on earth could I keep my make-up nice for more than 10 mins when dd rubs her hands all over my face??

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 17:07

ndp - most of my clothes look the same whether ironed or not so I don't even bother.

codswallop · 06/07/2004 17:08

I dont know wk
mine seems to stay put

til lunchime

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 17:09

coddy - if I ever meet you then I'll give you dd for a while and see if it stays then!!! She was obviously born with special octopus hands that get into everything.

Bagpuss30 · 06/07/2004 17:38

OMG, it's taken me so long to read through all this and look at the Boots website at the same time! I feel so out of touch and I definitely need some new stuff .

Will follow up each and every suggestion when I get the chance, thanks!

"TEINT IDOLE FLUIDE pigments are "held captive" in a film containing softness microspheres - so it's both rub-resistant and weatherproof.
Plus, its supple film is enriched with protective Vitamin E and extracts of white lily and mallow, to soothe and soften for great protection and comfort all day long (SPF 6 equivalent).

"

codswallop · 06/07/2004 17:47

" microspheres"

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 17:50

oooh - "microspheres"!!!

Don't think "impeccable hold" is quite the same as "wk's dd-proof" but if it worked I'd be amazed!!!

codswallop · 06/07/2004 17:51

suzywong · 06/07/2004 23:00

OK
so I took on board what was said earlier on and went to the park with kids for a playdate, put on concealer and mascara. It rained, got home and discovered I looked like a Goth, big smudges under eyes, rather wish I hadn't bothered.

Can anyone recommend an completely waterproof smudgeproof mascara that doesn't go cloggy for under a tenner?

motherinferior · 06/07/2004 23:02

Get yer lashes dyed, luv. Cost you about a tenner and lasts a month or so.
