Shaving private areas and comfort

Hello

DH loves me shaved and cleans down there. Initially, it is pleasant/etc and DH is happy but a few days after it is itchy because of stubble/etc.

I or DH uses his Gillette shaving Gel and Sensory 3 razors. Is there anything I could do to stop or even reduce the itching? At times I used med cream to reduce itching. Once the hair is a bit longer and not sharp its better ie back to normal.

I prefer a shave but the downside puts me off. Thanks in advance

Hilarious volumes of rage and anger 😄
Just read a post to the bottom before hitting the keyboard in a wild fury

Tbh I never have an issue if I keep on top of it. If I leave it too long that's when I get the itch, I use a Merkur original safety razor which in the beginning I was a little wary using as if I'm tired or in a rush I can properly butcher my face with it but once I relaxed and took sufficient care I get it done in less than a minute with no nicks.

Anotherbloke1 · 02/02/2023 11:56

I've shaved for years...feels cleaner and fresh. Never had issues but decided to purchase IPL to make it last longer. Expensive but cheaper in the long run than buying expensive blades and my partner uses it too so cheaper for both of us.

Carlycat · 06/02/2023 00:27

Can I ask which IPL systems people are using? I'm certainly tempted to buy one and the prices are so variable

Judeisnotobscure · 06/02/2023 06:40

I’ve got a Philips Lumea, I think it’s been worth it

Anotherbloke1 · 06/02/2023 10:57

Got the Philips lumea 9000, only used it once upto now so too early to say, downloaded the app so know when to use it next.

Happywife22 · 15/02/2023 16:27

Try the Gillette Venus for women for pubic hair, I use the exfoliater then the shave gel, the razor is great and doesnt nick at all, then follow up with the serum which stops Ingrowing hairs

PinotPony · 16/02/2023 06:53

I've got a Philips Lumea which seemed to work when I first got it but I wasn't disciplined enough with it.

It's quite time consuming and so I've not used it in several months and have gone back to professional waxing. This thread may prompt me to try it again!

Tymid · 16/02/2023 11:54

Maybe shaving it bald isn't the answer. Perhaps shaving so that there is a tiny bit of stubble would be sufficient. That way, you have the benefit of being groomed as well as the delicate sensation while avoid all of the itching and in-grown hairs?

Are you shaving completely? Are you grooming a particular way?
Buzz cut or landing strip? I say that because I came across an article that talks about all the different ways we can shave down there.

For me I shave most and buzz of the areas that are most prone to itching. I hate rashes and that feeling ouch!

Pros and Cons of Shaving down there

Rieslinger · 16/02/2023 11:56

Trim or Baldilocks...stubble can rub you raw when you're Jiggy-Jiggying!!

Anotherbloke1 · 16/02/2023 15:17

There is a full graphic video shaving on YouTube (woman shaving in the bath)

I have found a method that doesn’t leave me feeling itchy with regrowth, and has eliminated (nearly entirely) any redness and shaving bumps too.

I use the purple Gillette swirl razor and the Nivea Men Sensitive Pro Ultra Calming Liquid Shaving Cream (used for the face).

Always shave with warm water, but afterwards, use cold water to close the pores.

Afterwards towel dry the area by patting not rubbing and then use a few drops of The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, followed by a few drops of The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%.

Only use those items on the areas you shave, no other sensitive areas!!

Other than straight after shaving, use the ordinary products at night and in the morning to ensure the itchy feeling and shaving bumps are kept at bay.

This has worked wonders for me!!

BungleandGeorge · 19/02/2023 13:15

You’re not meant to use IPL or depilatory cream on intimate areas. I’d be wary as you might end up in a right state! I think waxing is really the way to
go to stop the regrowth itch, or you need to shave every couple of days.

Nannyfannybanny · 19/02/2023 13:19

Am with you coffeeandcake15. I find the current trend for having prepubescent looking privates, unatural. All this talk about it "being cleaner". Just as well my DH and I feel this way. I suffer with lichen sclerosis and eczema,I can't shave, use any cream or products. I have a latex allergy, these 3, things dictate what I can and cannot use, even down to the underwear I am able to use. Before I married, never met a bloke who wanted shaved pubes, I met a few who thought it was revolting. One said vulvas looked like a plate of raw liver, another a headless cat.

astarsheis · 19/02/2023 13:29

I use conditioner and shave every couple of days in the shower to keep on top of it.

I do it because I like that way. and I like DH to be well groomed too

swayingpalmtree · 19/02/2023 18:41

One said vulvas looked like a plate of raw liver, another a headless cat

I'd never date a man who said such vile things about the female anatomy- thats utterly repulsive and a massive turn off. Besides, penises are hardly a work of art are they? Hypocrisy at its finest.

Nannyfannybanny · 20/02/2023 11:17

These two remarks were centered at shaved pubes. Different generation, people saw the funny side. I just think it looks un natural
Believe me 40 years nursing, seen a huge amount of genitals, all shapes and sizes. Not remotely a work of art. Can count the number of shaved vulvas on the fingers of one hand, and I used to do a gynae and infertility clinic.

Rieslinger · 20/02/2023 11:24

Beauty is in the eye o the beholder and I for one adore my DW's FuFu, I do also think my Old Fella is far from that but my DW does really rather like him and so I'll take that!

Nannyfannybanny · 20/02/2023 11:44

DH and I have silly nicknames for our own and each others privates. The irony, that on here women are happy to use the C word!!

StarlightLady · 20/02/2023 12:58

The Vulva is our best friend and she's beautiful.

NCSexForum · 20/02/2023 13:38

StarlightLady · 20/02/2023 12:58

The Vulva is our best friend and she's beautiful.

agreed, not to mention the fact she is a huge pleasure source.

Nannyfannybanny · 20/02/2023 15:02

Then leave your beautiful best friend alone, with her whiskers, they're meant to be there, stop making her look like a skinned rabbit

StarlightLady · 20/02/2023 15:31

@Nannyfannybanny - Other parts of my body get pampered though. And hair gets removed from my legs and underarms regularly. My head hair get styled and conditioned too. My vulva looks nothing like a skinned rabbit, I would suggest more like an oyster.

Nannyfannybanny · 20/02/2023 17:06

Starlight that's worrying,is it covered in a shell! There's a joke somewhere about it being situatied between a sewage farm, and a water treatment plant!
