Hello

DH loves me shaved and cleans down there. Initially, it is pleasant/etc and DH is happy but a few days after it is itchy because of stubble/etc.

I or DH uses his Gillette shaving Gel and Sensory 3 razors. Is there anything I could do to stop or even reduce the itching? At times I used med cream to reduce itching. Once the hair is a bit longer and not sharp its better ie back to normal.

I prefer a shave but the downside puts me off. Thanks in advance

Wondering what the fuck I’m reading and how mumsnet has changed 😕

Octopusmittens · 01/02/2023 16:17

Why all this nonsense about shaved genitalia being ‘cleaner’, there’s nothing ‘unclean’ about pubic hair for goodness sake. Why put yourself through shaving?

Thisisworsethananticpated · 01/02/2023 16:46

I’ll be honest

started shaving for men (those porn hub watching fuckers!)
stayed shaving for me

period easier as use mooncup
way less incident of an infection i sometimes get
i also used to get friction rash when cycling
thats stopped
also no worries for swimming sauna etc

so even though I’m now single I’m maintaining it

Same. Be hair free if you want to, but not for anyone else! Also wtf why do we need explicit 'tidy pussy' ?

This. Stop pandering to all these bloody men.

SallyWD · 01/02/2023 17:04

My DH would prefer me to shave but a) I can't be bothered. It requires constant maintenance and life's too short b) I find it itchy and uncomfortable like you do
C) it's my body and I don't really want to change it for someone else d) I really don't see what's wrong with having hair there! I do give it a little trim now and then though.
Anyway, hope you find a solution.

keepaweatheredeye · 01/02/2023 17:10

This is how the conversation goes:

DH "I prefer you shaved down there"
Me "that's nice. I won't, though".
DH "ok, that's of course fine".

Repeat to fade.

ReverseFerret · 01/02/2023 17:16

I 'prefer' men not to be entitled little babies... but hey-ho!

FuckNuggets · 01/02/2023 17:47

How can anyone be fucking arsed shaving down there and dealing with the absolutely awful fucking itch afterwards? I tried it once in my 20's, used Veet, never fucking again! Can be barely be arsed to shave my legs and pits most of the time!

If my DH ever stated a preference of me shaved down there it'd put me off sex for a long time! But then I couldn't be with a man who thought stating a preference for anything on my body was part of a normal relationship. 🤢

It's not unclean but the simple fact is if you have hair there's more surface area for sweat, bacteria and discharge to get stuck in.

Yes, me too!

I second an ipl machine - op you can sometimes pick them up second hand as people tend to use them once then not bother.

Motnight · 01/02/2023 17:50

This is my idea of a 'tidy pussy'.

Pubic hair is there for a reason. Shaving it all off just increases your risk of infection. And unless you're going days without showering sweat, bacteria and discharge aren't going to build up!

You’re reading the Sex sub-forum. This is tame compared to some of the subjects that get discussed here.

You can always tell when a thread from this sub-forum pops up in Active as there’s a sudden influx of bosom-hoikers 😂

StillWeRise · 01/02/2023 18:08

you think its 'bosom hoiking' to resist men's attempts to manipulate us into conforming to their ideas of what our bodies should be?

also, happy to use misogyny to shame women who are happy and content the way they are?

think it's impossible to enjoy sex without altering your body?

sounds pretty sex-negative to me

sageandrosemary · 01/02/2023 18:12

Genuine question- what difference do you find it makes while you're having sex?

I used to shave/wax when I was younger. I'd never dream of it now and would personally find a man having a preference for hairless very off-putting. I've never noticed it make any difference in bed though.

PermanentTemporary · 01/02/2023 18:16

It influences me because of porn - I feel sexier, dirtier, more up for it with hair off. I do like the slightly more direct sensation of tongue on skin but there's not much in that given that the inner bits are hairless anyway.

Motnight · 01/02/2023 18:37

'bosom hoiking' - often used by men to shut women up.

Interesting.

wizzywig · 01/02/2023 18:43

Use the veet oil daily and it'll be so much more comfortable

FannyFifer · 01/02/2023 18:49

I'd be pretty creeped out if a man was insisting I had no hair on my vulva tbh.

Notellinganyone · 01/02/2023 18:56

I don’t understand this obsession with shaving pubes and the word ‘clean’ is so loaded. Take a step back and ask yourself why you’re doing this. Grown women and men are not meant to have no pubic hair.

It will be very interesting now the sex topic is popping up in Active.I wonder how many of the men who only post on here will still hang around?
