Hair or bare?

Something I've wondered about for years but never asked anyone - do you leave your doodah natural or do you shave / wax / Immac? And to what extent? Do you leave a bit on or go totally bare? It's never been something I've had to do much about for the past several years as nobody has been near that area, but my new partner has mentioned he would like to see me without hair. He's not complaining about how I am at the moment, he loves being down there, but I think he's turned on by the thought of it. So, do most women shave or not?!

I trim occasionally but never remove it all. I wouldn't relish the regrowth phase tbh

BluebellForest836 · 29/06/2020 12:22

Shave it all off.

Bodgedboxdye · 29/06/2020 12:29

I epilate it all off.

The grow back is fine, you don’t get shavers rash and it’s never itchy. :D

So, if you go to a salon for a bikini wax, how far do they go???! Showing my inexperience here, lol!

Depends what you ask for

WakingUp55643 · 29/06/2020 12:47

Lol, an ad for an epilator has appeared on the side, @Bodgedboxdye !!

@dementedpixie Well, ahem, my hairs go towards the inside, so I dunno if they would go there. Also, they encroach into my bum....

yes they will remove bum hair and they will get up close and personal with your lady parts to get hair from your labia. I've never had mine waxed BTW

Namechangednorth · 29/06/2020 14:56

You will, get strong opinions from MN either way. I used to trim and then wax for bikini line. For my wedding I had a whole beauty package which included bikini wax which could be normal take the sides off to a full everything off. The beautician I had known for a while and suggested I try a full wax..said they were really popular for wedding packages. So breathed deeply and said ok.

Yes..no modesty when being done, but equally beauticians do them everyday and is just another beauty treatment to them. There is an ouch factor first couple of times as well.

Felt funny at first as very sensitive but I was pleased. DH was VERY pleased and asked me to stay like it so I have.

However, since lockdown not been waxed so have been shaving which I find a pain as have to keep up with it. Made me realise I much prefer all bare.

Waxing is every three weeks or so.

coulddowithashag · 29/06/2020 15:18

I think it depends on personal taste. I have had more than one guy say they prefer the fur and one day I need a shave!

PinotPony · 29/06/2020 16:00

Used to just trim when married but when I started dating I discovered Brazilian wax at my local salon (all off except a landing strip). Have to get on hands and knees for full access but I'm sure she's seen plenty of vulvas before! 😂 Love how smooth it feels.

During lockdown I've been shaving which I hate because of stubble and regrowth. Also tried veet but ended up burning labia as I left it on too long!

I use an epilator on legs and underarms. Can manage to do bikini line with it but not brave enough to do genitals and arse!

maggie1862 · 29/06/2020 16:55

shave it bare m my DH used to do it for me but brave enough to do it myself now , once done well easy to keep on top of it .

StarlightLady · 29/06/2020 17:29

All off! In my 40s and have been a bald eagle for as long as l can remember.

For me, it increases sensitivity and makes life much easier during heavy periods. There have times when l have been for regular waxes (obviously not at the moment) then times when l get bored with the regrowth and swap to a mix of Veet Sensitive and shaving (tip: for a wet shave, use hair conditioner, the razor glides).

People on MN have been criticised for hair removal, so before the pubic hair police turn up, l want to stress l don’t do this for anyone other than me! I’ve had partners over the years who have even asked me to grow it (refused!).

Hair removal is nothing new, it was practiced in Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman bathhouses, which is one of the reasons why statues in that period were sculpted smooth.

SuperJan · 29/06/2020 18:49

Light trim.

Shaving means stubble and I'm not going near waxing.

Littlemix1 · 29/06/2020 20:02

All off

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 29/06/2020 20:09

Anyone else got the ad for a ball trimmer on the right hand side of this page. Think they need to tweak their target market algorithm 😂

SimonJT · 29/06/2020 20:10

I wax my bum myself (shaved it once, big mistake), I usually go and get the front done as well (too painful to do it myself), I was shaving it but its too itchy so I’m just keeping it really short.

I’d like to wax my chest rather than shave it, but I wouldn’t like letting it grow long enough.

Muuuuuummm · 29/06/2020 20:51

I shave it all off with an electric razor but sometimes it nicks me. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good electric shaver for downstairs? Also I really want to try one of those IPL things but not sure if they work.

NameChangeNugget · 29/06/2020 20:57

All of

Bodgedboxdye · 29/06/2020 21:17

@Muuuuuummm I hate electric razors for that very reason. Awful.

If you can handle it, I’d say an epilator. Plucks our the hairs, jobs a good un. 🤣

WakingUp55643 · 29/06/2020 21:54

Wow! Thanks everyone! I really thought men would find it horrifying to discover a bare front end, but maybe it's a sexy thing I just didn't know about. I'm going to try it!

Outnumb3red · 29/06/2020 22:46

Much prefer all off.

I get a hot wax. Imo strip waxing shouldn’t be done there. Hot wax is much gentler.

I prefer it as it just feels better. Especially oral.

cosmicbabe · 29/06/2020 22:56

I have been having a Brazilian done every month for the last 20 years.. when I think about how much that has cost I want to have laser hair removal so will be looking into that next! During lockdown I've been waxing myself. Which takes about 2 hours. Nightmare. But I refuse to shave.

TinManc · 30/06/2020 09:54

My ex had hers all lasered off (long before we were together). Pricey and painful but well worth it. I loved it.

Flyingf1edgelings · 30/06/2020 10:40

All off it feels cleaner and dh loves it.
