Hair or bare?

Something I've wondered about for years but never asked anyone - do you leave your doodah natural or do you shave / wax / Immac? And to what extent? Do you leave a bit on or go totally bare? It's never been something I've had to do much about for the past several years as nobody has been near that area, but my new partner has mentioned he would like to see me without hair. He's not complaining about how I am at the moment, he loves being down there, but I think he's turned on by the thought of it. So, do most women shave or not?!

@WakingUp55643 Wow! Thanks everyone! I really thought men would find it horrifying to discover a bare front end, but maybe it's a sexy thing I just didn't know about. I'm going to try it!

I wonder what age you are as frankly in my age group 30s, from the straw poll on a (admittedly tipsy) girls night out the majority claimed to be hair free. It isn't unusual.

Beauticians make a fortune by my reckoning with those that have waxing done and is just a part of my routine. Husband does love me like it though.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 30/06/2020 12:45

Shave it all every day

TheGoldenApplesOfTheSun · 30/06/2020 20:04

Impressed how many say they keep it bare! Not my cup of tea - full bush here, the occasional trim to keep it neat. I guess that makes me a hippie 😂 Just can't be arsed with the maintenance of a shaved look (and the thought of an ingrowing hair makes me since!)

TheGoldenApplesOfTheSun · 30/06/2020 20:05

*wince!

Littlemix1 · 30/06/2020 20:40

Bare and my bf shaves. Uses veet where he can't reach....said he once used veet on his balls and had shower on cold for agesGrinGrin

Arnoldthecat · 30/06/2020 23:12

I've shaved my GF bald and smooth before now and she found it both a very practical solution and a huge turn on. My GF told me about a conversation she had with the "beauty" therapist at the shop she goes to. Shes a 40 something woman . She mentioned some of the women who turned up for intimate waxing or whatever and the poor standard of hygiene of some of them .. Not a job for the faint hearted i expect.

MyleneFarmer · 01/07/2020 00:11

All off, lasered.

Btw, Worth every penny!

Natalialikes · 01/07/2020 08:09

I've had mine lasered too. Cost £720 if i remember right. I'd pay double that it is so good. I've saved money long term.

SimonJT · 01/07/2020 09:09

Oh £700 is really reasonable, do you know if it can be used on darker skin? I’m Asian, so I don’t have white skin but my ethnic group are pale by Asian standards.

Natalialikes · 01/07/2020 09:28

I think it can with the right equipment but im not sure. I used Outline Skin Clinic in Droitwich Spa. It was a long way to go for me but i didn't fancy having it done in a salon as the ones near me had some not so great reviews. I have irish roots so pale skin and really dark hair and they said i was perfect for laser hair removal. I had 7 sessions that took only a few min over about a year

wizzbangfizz · 01/07/2020 10:39

All waxed off - the starting position is all fours so about as intimate as it gets!

BluebellForest836 · 01/07/2020 12:20

@Natalialikes - I’m going to sound really thick.

So the hair never grows back ? Sounds like a dream

Natalialikes · 01/07/2020 13:02

Pretty much if its done with proper equipment. You are supposed have a top up once a year but i haven't had one. My last treatment was more than 3 years ago. The hair grows back very fine and very very slowly. Ive probably shaved once every 6 months but its more like getting rid of a bit of fluff than proper shaving. You dont get any rash or get itchy which i used to really bad. You have to be careful where you have it done though i think. I went to the best place i could find. I don't want to knock salons because I work in one doing nails but they tend to use the machines that cost a few thousand. The one i went to they had a brand new machine that cost them over 50k that could do all sorts of wonderful things and they also carry out proper medical treatments there so i trusted them that they knew what they were doing. I only know this from the small talk had when i have my bum in the air letting all my dignity escape. It didn't really hurt. I just wish i could have everything else done. That's the dream. Think that package was over 2k so out of my price range.

Wherearemymarbles · 01/07/2020 14:03

Lumea is pretty good for £250 or so. My wife bought one and after 3 or 4 sessions she only has a couple of small patches of hair on her legs, the rest has stopped growing. Conversely ipl bikini line at salon didnt work at all well and she didnt have that much hair to begin with. But the ipl on her under arms did.

Ticktocklovelyclock · 01/07/2020 17:10

Tidy, I don't want to look like a prepubescent child, and I don't care how 'liberating' a choice some women claim it is, it's originated from modern porn and something women do because men expect it.

Arnoldthecat · 01/07/2020 21:00

im not sure that all men expect it though i take the point. How many women want to walk around with a big hairy bush busting out of their panties/bikini etc?

Natalialikes · 01/07/2020 21:03

Look like a prepubescent child? I knew it wouldn't be long before a comment like this. Thankfully, most adults minds don't work like that. For consistency, I assume you have hairy armpits and caterpillar eyebrows. You wouldn't want people to mistake you for a child now, would you.

SimonJT · 01/07/2020 21:21

I may have no pubic hair and a shaved chest, but oddly enough that doesn’t make me look like a prepubescent child. Do us men look like prepubescent children if we shave our beards off?

SomewhereInbetween1 · 01/07/2020 21:43

Surprised we got all the way to page 2 before someone used the prepubescent child comment!

NameChangeNugget · 02/07/2020 00:17

Pre pubescent child klaxon

People that use that against women making choices are warped

StarlightLady · 02/07/2020 04:35

Here we go again. My body is hair free and looks nothing like a pre-pubescent child. Is everybody attending a salon (in normal times, buying Veet, buying razors (both genders) aspiring to look like a child? As another poster has already suggested, l assume those implying this don’t remove hair from legs or armpits or even that stray face hair either, and do not have male partners that shave their faces.

It is also more comfortable in the warm weather.

Life rule: Do not criticise others who do things that do not impact on you.

I am yet to see on MN anybody criticise those who choose to keep their pubic hair. It’s personal choice.

As l mentioned in my earlier post, hair removal is nothing new, it was practiced in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.

Finally some of us may prefer not to have hairs poking out of our bikinis on the beach or our knickers. But if that’s your personal style, fine.

Rubbish. Hair removal has been around since the beginning of time. Certainly Egyptians and Romans and Greeks did it.
notevenat20 · 02/07/2020 15:05

Just to give a contrasting view:

I went for Brazilian waxing a few times and hated it. First I found it really painful. More importantly I didn't look like myself which I found upsetting. I never did it again.

I personally would be really cautious about laser hair removal if we are talking about taking it all off. At some point your children will see you naked and if you have literally no pubic hair they may be quite confused. Also, you can't pee straight if you don't have pubic hair :)

StarlightLady · 02/07/2020 15:18

Beeswax, pummice, sugaring and seashells were used for body hair removal by the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. In addition, body hair removal was considered a sign of “wealth and class” in 16th centurary France.

This is why many famous statues from ancient times depict women as hairless. It is not a new thing.

StarlightLady · 02/07/2020 15:26

Smooth since my late teens now in my 40s and l can wee straight. If only your hair is making you wee straight, you must be weeing on your hair each time you go. No thank you Confused!

What is wrong with children knowing some people sport pubic hair and some don’t, which is reality anyway. Some men have beards and other’s don’t. Some women have hairy armpits and other’s don’t.
