*The swingers I know are some of the most interesting people I have met as they tend to have an adventurous and curious approach to life as a whole, not just to sex. They are people who want to grab life by the horns and enjoy every moment but in a safe and controlled environment.

Personally this is much more attractive to me than the drink fuelled casual sex/1 night stand culture that most of my non-swinger friends are into. Each to their own* exactly my thoughts...well said

naughtyjezebel · 11/12/2015 17:00

Eccles thanks Grin

Cleaty I imagine they would kind of...slide around, with each tongue movement. I have never used one yet. At least with a condom you can just pop it on and it stays in place!

Destinysdaughter · 11/12/2015 17:13

Did have a giggle at Dad's imaginings of what goes on at a swingers' club. It's not exactly like that but it can be quite hilarious at times ( tho not sure if some of the people on this thread would find it funny or appalling...)

Sparklingbrook · 11/12/2015 17:14

Sounds like Carry On Swinging.

naughtyjezebel · 11/12/2015 17:29

One of my friends directed me once to a well known swinging website, which I immediately renamed "Fatswingers". There are some very hot and interesting people there, but you do have to wade through the numerous photos of what looks like a rubberized weight watchers convention

lol @ Carry on Swinging"...definitely a movie to be made there.

Sparklingbrook · 11/12/2015 17:32

Terry Scott is no longer with us so would need recasting. Grin

PrimeDirective · 11/12/2015 20:32

The dental dam.
I'd rather be celibate than indulge in a pastime that meant I had to use one of those.
Which is absolutely your prerogative, but what's the difference between using a dental dam and a condom?

naughtyjezebel You hold it in place with your fingers.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 11/12/2015 20:52

I have identified what I find so risible in the notion of sex clubs, swingers parties etc. They're over-thinking it. Something which can happen so spontaneously becomes so laboured and over-engineered. For god's sake, what sort of person looks forward to sex you have to book a ticket for? That's why it's so silly, but also, a little bit sad.

AnyFucker · 11/12/2015 21:15

I wonder if a Morrison's carrier bag would fulfil the same purpose

and cheap at 5p a go

MissBattleaxe · 11/12/2015 22:01

Anyfucker- or a bag for Life!

AnyFucker · 11/12/2015 22:29

Ooooh, hark at you, posho

Would that be a Waitrose bag for life ?

PrimeDirective · 11/12/2015 22:49

That's why it's so silly, but also, a little bit sad
The fact that it doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make it silly or sad.
And there's nothing wrong with planned sex! Spontaneous is great sometimes but planned can build excitement.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 11/12/2015 22:54

But there is a reason why people so often laugh at the notion of swingers and find them absurd, and I would suggest it is the one I have identified. On the one hand you have everyone else happily getting on with it; on the other these people making this big silly "look at me" over-engineered fuss. I wouldn't dream of stopping them, but I can't help but find them more than a little ridiculous.

naughtyjezebel · 11/12/2015 22:58

I much prefer planned sex with hot people, who plan it with me, as opposed to the drunken spontaneous unsafe sex liaisons that my non swinger friends have. Plus swingers tend to be very good at sex in my experience Wink

Destinysdaughter · 11/12/2015 23:27

So we've had disgusting, gross, sleazy, sad and now ridiculous. Judgey lot aren't you? Every person who's come on this thread and admitted they're into this has spoken about it being a positive experience but pp ( who know nothing about it) are still determined to come in here and belittle is. It's pretty tiresome tbh and I'm wondering what are the motives behind wanting to denigrate it so much...?

SolidGoldBrass · 12/12/2015 01:28

No Karlos, mundanes laugh at swingers because mundanes are encouraged to laugh at everyone who doesn't conform to very, very narrow boundaries of what is considered 'normal' behaviour. Mundanes laugh at the idea of fat people, old people or indeed disabled people having sex lives, because sex is supposed to be for the young, thin and fashionably dressed - and people who don't fit into those categories should be pressured to spend a lot of money trying to transform themselves into the 'ideal'.

Sansoora · 12/12/2015 02:35

They're over-thinking it. Something which can happen so spontaneously becomes so laboured and over-engineered.

Yes, and its what Ive wanted to say but I couldn't put my finger on what I was thinking.

Sansoora · 12/12/2015 02:49

Mundanes laugh at the idea of fat people

Naughtyjezeb isn't the only non-mundane on this thread laughing at those who are over weight trying to join in the fun.

Mundanes laugh at the idea of fat people, old people or indeed disabled people having sex lives, because sex is supposed to be for the young, thin and fashionably dressed

I think some may do but thats generally quite a sweeping statement. Most of the old fat people with disabilities who I know are having a whale of a time once they get their clothes off and get their breath back. Grin

Enjolrass · 12/12/2015 06:12

Mundane a laugh at fat and disabled people having sex?

That's quite a sweeping statement! It also assumes all mundane are either not fat or disabled?

I also don't think it was a 'mundane' that renamed a website 'fat swingers'.

I'll say it again, calling people 'mundanes' whilst moaning that they are taking the piss, makes you look ridiculous.

I can't see where anyone has answered my question - if dental dams protect women why are these clubs not promoting their use along side promoting the use of condoms?

Since it's such a safe space that's so respectful of women?

It doesn't make sense that that it's no well known and one person who has tried swinging didn't know about it and it's ended very sadly for her.

SoConfused15 · 12/12/2015 08:37

It's sad that this has turned into a bit of a slanging match. Can we all not live and let live please?

Its really not cool to make fun of other people's sexuality and life choices that don't affect you.

MissBattleaxe · 12/12/2015 08:50

There have been many coherent and persuasive arguments on here from swingers and I have read them respectfully and with interest. But once you start insulting non swingers by labelling them as "mundanes" you've lost your credibility.

I'm respectful of the swingers on here who have explained their choices openly and without resorting to name calling. But once you start labelling non swingers as "mundanes" and lumping them together as a group who behave in an inferior way to yourself, don't expect me to respect anything else you have to say about it. In doing so you sound far more narrow minded than the people you are slating

Others I will listen to with an open mind, but name callers I won't respect or engage with.

MissBattleaxe · 12/12/2015 08:51

*Ooooh, hark at you, posho Would that be a Waitrose bag for life?"

AnyFucker, naturally Smile. That way if the buffet's not up to much you can buy olives on the way home. And wet wipes.

suzannecaravaggio · 12/12/2015 09:25

But once you start insulting non swingers by labelling them as "mundanes" you've lost your credibility

I agree, this thread went straight to the playground when that phrase popped up
It makes me think of Harry Potter, muggles

SolidGoldBrass · 12/12/2015 09:39

Oh FFS. As I have said repeatedly, it's not a disinclination to swing that makes you mundane. It's the wilfully ignorant insistence that anyone who isn't like you is disgusting, ridiculous or immoral.

suzannecaravaggio · 12/12/2015 10:48

Why use the term mundane?
You are saying that you refer to those who are ignorant, narrow minded, yet mundane means dull and ordinary .

We are the in group, the cool people with exciting sex lives, they are the boring people, the out group
