@MrPanks @BellaI that's such lovely ideas regarding a little treat everyday! Might have to steal that :-)
DS has done well today, he's remained calm and collected and done quite a bit of work. He's usually also very concise in his writing and waffling on doesn't come naturally to him, so he's made progress today. Going to watch a YouTube video of Mr. Salles predicting tomorrows Jekyll and Hyde question as the last thing we do and hoping it'll help in someway even if it's a different theme in tomorrow's paper.
Good luck to all the DCs!

What exam board is he doing?

I can't wait for the next 5 week to be over. Child 1 gcse . Trying and working hard. Child 2 A levels and hoping to go to university- driving us mad with his laziness and lack of effort. Then says h
e feels stressed....(well maybe if you do some actual revision it might help. )

I hear you.
Older dd is doing a postgraduate year (against my advice tbh..) and is hating it.
It's a very hard year but by not being willing to alter her way of working/prioritise/take on board advice from her mentor, she's making it much harder than it needs to be.
I've found it very, very draining.
She's like a black cloud over the house 😔
Dd says she's feeling "ok" about tomorrow...who knows?

destiel00 · 12/05/2025 07:16

Good luck to dc taking English Literature today 🍀

queenofthesuburbs · 12/05/2025 07:22

Yes good luck! I think English Literature is today for a lot of the exam boards!

It’s a biggie!!

NotAPersonalAttack · 12/05/2025 07:38

Seems Eng Lit is compulsory st DD's school even for those in lower sets who find it tough.

QueenMabby · 12/05/2025 07:53

Morning all and good luck to everyone with Eng Lit exams this morning! We only have one Eng lit exam (IGCSE) and dd is very glad to be getting it done early in the exam run. She’s very nervous for this one.

Good luck all. DS has a nose bleed this morning, but seemed in good spirits otherwise. Hoping the nose bleed doesn’t come back in the exam. Maybe it would add dramatic effect 🤣🤣 Happy to get this one off the list later…

IThinkImAMathmoMum · 12/05/2025 08:32

All the best to everyone. DD has been dreading English Lit but at least it will be over before half term. She spend quite a lot of time this morning trying to calm down a friend who was sending very stressed out messages on WhatsApp. Then there was also the I want to be early but not so early that I get stressed out by everyone waiting decision. She actually seemed pretty calm when she left.

I said it is like getting to the end of the rollercoaster queue and now being strapped in - she said "Yes but the rollercoaster is rubbish" (she may have used a different word!)

HereComesYourMam · 12/05/2025 08:40

Really can't wait for the English lit exams to be over! Good luck to all the DC today.

stickygotstuck · 12/05/2025 08:40

Good luck everyone!
English Lit here too this morning.

I put some drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy in DD's (clear) water bottle. More for psychological effect but it made her feel better. I think I'll put the rest of the bottle in my mid-morning tea 😁

Great idea to put the rescue remedy in her water bottle, I’m going to do that for my DD for tomorrow! I laughed out loud at you swigging the rest of it 🤣

All those predictions re question topics on social media caused a bit of angst last night.

Cantwaituntiltheyareover · 12/05/2025 08:55

Nervous in this house this morning... good luck to everyone!

Do you think these “leaked paper” rumours are true? Will be interesting to see if the questions come up today.

Poisoningpigeons · 12/05/2025 09:04

Good luck for Eng Lit to all! And any doing Comp Sci this afternoon too.

We've not looked at any social media so are blissfully ignorant.

Am I going to have this knot in my stomach until June 18? 😖 (Is this how my parents felt when I was doing big exams? Somehow I doubt it, that wasn't the way for the previous generation!)

Is he doing Macbeth? Could be a prompt for some good quotes !

Romeo and Juliet - a blood splattered paper 🤣 Better stop joking

@Poisoningpigeons us too - not sure if DS saw anything but he didn’t say. I agree - in the 90s you sat your GCSEs without much fuss, as far as I remember

Can you get it through an IV!?? 😬🤣🤣

destiel00 · 12/05/2025 09:45

Dd seemed ok
...
Went in early (quite a few queuing to go in...)
She was sending supportive messages to her friends this morning (some of them don't live locally and go to different schools)
Dd has AF and MofV today.
Different texts to when older dd did it.

NotAPersonalAttack · 12/05/2025 09:45

I don't think the predictions are leaks, just hunches based on what has and hasn't come up recently.

DD mentioned yesterday something about a 5 year rule, I think she said all topics on a syllabus need to be examined at least every 5 years.

No idea if this is correct or just something she saw on The Tik Tok
