@Flimpychunk exactly same here. Had never anticipated or considered an academic scholarship! Unnecessary panic being caused 😬 they could have just emailed those they wanted to interview for an academic scholarship with the good news!

I agree- wish they just had emailed those who got yes to academic,

Congratulations @11plus24 and @Wondermumof4 regarding the Dulwich interview. I am curious on your ds thoughts of the exam. I see they switched from paper based, to what looks similar to the London consortium did (atom learning). Did they think the exam more difficult or similar level to the Atom mocks? I see they have sample questions on. We have not gone through them yet (I figure save them for closer to the exam). My ds is year 5 so we have some time :) Also, curious if you also applied for Alleyn's?

Summerma · 10/01/2024 16:43

@Brugmansia it sounds like you have a good sense of perspective and frankly I think I need that as I’m definitely getting far too anxious about it. Wishing you and your DS the best of luck in this frankly ridiculous process.

Summerma · 10/01/2024 16:44

@minipie Ahh, I had no idea about the late assessments at Emanuel, that makes a lot of sense, thank you for passing this information on.

Wondermumof4 · 10/01/2024 16:51

Hi @SamPoodle123 thank you ! My DS said it was harder than atom.
was all on line except for the creative task (that was not long , 15 min )
we have done the tour of Alleyns but we did not apply. Good luck to your DS !

swlondon24 · 10/01/2024 16:52

It sounds like half of London is waiting for that Emanuel email. I assume they have the lists by now but also need to double and triple check everything is correct before sending out 1,000+ emails. Good luck to all of us!

Eboblah · 10/01/2024 17:11

@swlondon24 is that 1000+ a guesstimate or do you have some inside intel? Any idea how many interviews they might do? Am rapidly scaling back my already meagre hopes.

farfallarocks · 10/01/2024 17:18

At the exam they said over 1000 to us.....

I have had two DS's go through the Dulwich 11+. The new system is much more challenging and Atom is actually little help with some of the aspects such as the puzzles and creative comprehension. The maths and 'normal' multiple choice reading comprehensions are similar to Atom. There is a company out there that sell mock assessments which are very good but scarily challenging.
My younger DC also sat the Alleyn's assessment and declared it harder than the Sutton Grammar second round tests!
The tests are super hard but remember that all our little boys are just competing against other little boys and no one is going to get full marks on tests this difficult! Well maybe some, and good luck to them. :-)

swlondon24 · 10/01/2024 17:29

@Eboblah there were about 200 children at the sports scholarship assessments (if you add the boys and girls who showed up) so you can imagine the total. Plus they said it as per @farfallarocks .

farfallarocks · 10/01/2024 17:33

Super insight thanks @minipie so I imagine it really will be Friday at this rate!

lolo99 · 10/01/2024 19:42

What day is the academic scholarship at Hampton? Anyone had an offer that can shed light?

Wondermumof4 · 10/01/2024 20:06

@LanguageTestQuery did you have an offer at the end for Dulwich ? How did you find the interview ?

LanguageTestQuery · 10/01/2024 20:19

First son got a place. His interview involved general questions about his interests and he was shown two pictures which he had to describe/ talk about.
We heard today that our younger son has an interview too which we’re thrilled about. It’s a fantastic school and our bright, quirky older son has absolutely blossomed there.

Wondermumof4 · 10/01/2024 21:09

great ! Congrats and thank you for your reply , we really hope to get an offer 🤞🏻

Many thanks for your feedback. It sounds like it is similar to the London Consortium exam. My dd did that and we thought she was doing the ISEB...by the time we realized they changed the exam and added this creative comprehension and math puzzle component we gave up. We thought, we prepared for the other stuff and just hope for the best for the two new sections lol. She ended up doing well. I am hoping it will be the same for my ds.

It is stressful w all the different exams. I wish there could just be one type of exam, that you could take twice (obviously w different questions, but same format) and they take the best out of the two scores :)

I had my ds do the Alleyn's mock on Atom and that was def more challenging then the other Atom assessments. Yikes. Still debating if it makes sense to apply to Alleyn's.

farfallarocks · 11/01/2024 08:57

Feedback from dd's mates who did Alleyns this year was that is was fiendishly hard.
FH also very tough interview questions apparently.
Do we think schools are raising the bar higher and higher as everyone gets tutors and atom accounts? Where will it end?

Wondermumof4 · 11/01/2024 09:04

She still has plenty of time to get better scores , so dont give up my son got better towards the end. and anyway if you really like the school you should try as you never know.

Wondermumof4 · 11/01/2024 09:04

Sorry talking about your DS @SamPoodle123

minipie · 11/01/2024 09:24

DD said the VR was really hard at Alleyns - it’s usually the thing she finds easiest so must have been tough!

ItsMeHi48 · 11/01/2024 10:45

Is the FH you’re referring to Francis Holland SS @farfallarocks ? - my daughter did that yesterday and from what she told me it definitely sounded more full on than I might have expected

farfallarocks · 11/01/2024 10:47

Yea sorry should have specified SS. All crossed for your dd

Iffiyas · 11/01/2024 10:57

Does anyone know when LEH might get back with outcomes? They said Mid January which is anytime from now…

allaboutmychildren · 11/01/2024 12:02

@Iffiyas we haven't heard anything yet from LEH. Website says mid-Jan, hopefully next week. If we are invited, the interviews are between 23rd -25th Jan
