Lolakath19 · 08/02/2024 11:11

@hannsmum, sorry I don t know about JAGS
I have looked at my email from last year and this is what I have
-PHS (on the tueday at 13.00)
-Francis Holland (7.40am)
-City (9.10am)
-G&L (9.14am)
-WHS - Wimbledon (12.10pm)
-Latymer (3.12pm).
Good luck to everyone and try not to worry if you have not received an email whilst other on MN have. I remember some Latymer email being out way before we received ours!
Fingers crossed to all your DC and you! You can all be proud of what they have achieved!

(Waving to @Lolakath19 , as a last year fellow traveller)

to add, from last year,
KGS - 9.20 am
Emanuel - 9.40 am
Harrodian - 11.35 am
Ibstock - 4.24 pm

To note, WHS offer was updated on the portal before the emails were out (at least more than one hour earlier). So worth checking there too.

Good luck to all!

minipie · 08/02/2024 11:25

Sorry yes I realise my original post was unclear

We had a yes email from Jags at 9.21 today

minipie · 08/02/2024 11:26

Don’t worry if yours hasn’t come yet though, from watching this thread and last year’s equivalent there seem to be lots of schools who drip out their emails gradually and the timing doesn’t seem to mean yes or no!

Wondermumof4 · 08/02/2024 12:10

@QuiteAJourney thanks that is an accurate response 😅finger crossed everyone i will turn 1000 times during the night 🤣

hannsmum · 08/02/2024 12:26

Thanks a lot @minipie and @Bewler

im happy we have come to the end of this nerve wracking process . its been crazy.

Now its time to go through the painful process of deciding for a school.we have two scholarship offers (including bursary) from Sydenham high and Croydon high. and an offer (almost full bursary) from JAGS.

i was kind of slightly hoping for a rejection from JAGS so it makes choosing earlier as we were likely going for SHS. But now im confused as my DD will now change her mind to JAGS.

SHS is closer to us and I know JAGS is quite at the top of those two but I don't want to go for the hype of JAGS as they are extremely competitive and my daughter is not sporty at all and I don't want her feeling left out

safetyzone · 08/02/2024 12:38

PHS also out.

minipie · 08/02/2024 12:41

hannsmum that’s a nice position to be in! I would say look around the schools again, ask the questions you have in mind. I think you can be quite direct about any concerns once you are holding an offer. You could hopefully ask some students, who might give a more unvarnished answer!

w8anxious · 08/02/2024 12:45

PHS waiting list for us

squirrelofsw19 · 08/02/2024 12:46

Thanks for the heads up @safetyzone I was sitting on my hands not to refresh for the millionth time. We have a PHS offer with a music scholarship so happy indeed. Fingers crossed for the other DDs on this thread.

Iffiyas · 08/02/2024 12:50

We have a PHS offer! So pleased for our DD

I don't know what JAGS is like now, as I just have a son so didn't look into it. However I went there 30 or so years ago and was completely un-sporty. It definitely wasn't an issue then. There were lots of non-sporty girls who got more involved in drama, music and art. It may have changed but I'd hope it's still really strong in those areas.

W4mamabear · 08/02/2024 14:03

PHS offer here!!! I can’t explain the relief!!! Can’t wait to tell DD after school!!

CocoC · 08/02/2024 14:05

Waitlist for PHS here also. Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted ?

swlondon24 · 08/02/2024 14:46

@CocoC I believe the WL is long but I guess many drop off as they accept offers elsewhere. I know ppl last year who got in via WL but also some who didn't. It only moved on the acceptance day very close to the deadline so the uptake must have been quite high last year.

minimiffy · 08/02/2024 15:04

Does anyone have any insight into the JAGS waiting list? 🤞🤞

abbmum · 08/02/2024 15:06

No insight, but I noted it was described as a 'short' wait list on the key dates section of the website, suggests perhaps not used as extensively as some schools?

Thank you so much - I have just reread it and the fact it says “short” is giving me a bit of hope

Waitlist for PHS here also. Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted ?

It depends on the year, with factors including whether they have recently had a bumper year (making more difficult to accommodate another one), the number of girls that they know for certain are coming through, and offer to acceptance ratios in previous years.
As others have said, they went to WL last year but rather last moment and, by then, quite a few people had taken offers elsewhere ... especially as PHS refused to share where in the WL people where.

in case useful, more generally,

  • beware that acceptance deadlines differ slightly (sometimes it can work to your advantage, I know of people that got a WL from PHS, which that year had an earlier deadline, just hours before they were due to sign with Emanuel)
  • some acceptances bind you not only to the deposit but payment of first term
travelturtle · 08/02/2024 20:41

Good luck to everyone waiting for results tomorrow. Not sure I’m going to sleep much tonight. Luckily DS is far more chilled about the whole thing. Hoping they send them nice and early so some work can be done 😂

Summerma · 08/02/2024 20:46

Good luck @travelturtle and all. We’re nearly there
