@farfallarocks I was just thinking what a long shot it was but your comment has given me some optimism! Finding this process so brutal!

Probably over 80 external places if a big year (some 60 last year for a year of some 100) and remember they will have to over offer

80 external places makes me feel more optimistic - thank you!

A couple of schools have said they do 1/3 from their junior school, 1/3 state and 1/3 private - so it ends up sounding like not very many. Good to work out the actual numbers!

farfallarocks · 09/01/2024 21:26

Interesting on boy girl split, we have sat mostly co Eds and there are always more boys than girls at the exams

It won't be because less girls apply, it will be less take up of offers as there are lots more girls schools around!
Although did LU tell you that @gilson because that doesn't really tally with what they said to me a couple of years ago.

Their typical year is around 100 girls - some 40 from the junior, some 60 external. If they are putting a new form and assuming constant numbers from the junior, that gives another 20+ places.
Not sure how many they offer but when you look at offer to acceptance ratio of preps in the area, it seems to be around 2.5 offers per place, though it may be different for candidates from state schools (for which there is no data).

EEE111 · 10/01/2024 11:06

Hello, does anyone know how many places are there at CLSG and how many were invited to second assessments? thanks

Sunnyside77 · 10/01/2024 11:21

Does anyone know how many girls were invited back for the Surbiton High interviews? Thanks. All the best to everyone

MrsEverdeen · 10/01/2024 11:40

@EEE111 according to their brochure, about 100 girls join in year 7. They invite 380 to the second assessment. I have no idea how many offers/waitlist/rejections they send out. Good luck!

Sunnyside77 · 10/01/2024 11:47

Thank you, that’s very useful to know. I believe it was about 700 girls who sat the exam this year. Fingers crossed

Wondermumof4 · 10/01/2024 12:38

Hi all , any news from Emanuel ? Dulwich College emails are out ! They were suppose to arrive by the 15th so later than Emanuel and i just received it , my DS got an interview i was not expecting it at all as they only invite 160 boys i thought no chance , we are so so thrilled🙃will tell him the good news after school. If you went though it before and have any tips about the interview i am all ears.

11plus24 · 10/01/2024 12:57

We got Dulwich interview as well! Waiting on Emanuel... 😬 Did anyone's DS do SPS yesterday?

Brugmansia · 10/01/2024 13:16

No Dulwich interview here, which I'm not surprised by at all.

farfallarocks · 10/01/2024 13:53

Sorry to hear that @Brugmansia

Brugmansia · 10/01/2024 13:57

Thanks, though I'm not to bothered about this one. It was a last minute decision to enter him and DS has a very strong preference for co-ed.

Summerma · 10/01/2024 14:13

Right, I think I’m on edge because I had a (first world) nightmare that DS didn’t get into any of the schools we applied to… am getting tempted to just call Emanuel and flat out ask when we are likely to hear. I’m not mega ballsy though and worried they will trace the mob no to DS’s application and blacklist me as a pain 😭

Hope everyone is hanging in there . I’m already cracking - and we have about 6 weeks to wait for outcomes for the other schools!

Wondermumof4 · 10/01/2024 14:19

Ah ah 🤣🤣🤣my thought are exactly same @Summerma if you call please share de news , hopefully by tomorrow the wait will be over.

CocoC · 10/01/2024 14:41

Yes, for the schools which have completed their interviews now, I can’t believe it takes them so long to send out the offers!
Personally, I think if all things are equal (obviously !) it can be a driver of preference- I am finding myself more attracted to those schools which appear more decisive, confident or more organized, purely based on speed of response!

Summerma · 10/01/2024 14:47

Agreed @CocoC !

Sorry, it’s 4 weeks and a bit until 9 Feb but feels like eternity now that interviews are over for those schools.

It's because most of them agree to send them out on the same date.

Following our disappointment before Christmas I am now working on the assumption that this is the most likely outcome for DS. I'm feeling much calmer as a result, so any interviews will be a bonus. Fortunately DS is also very resilient.

minipie · 10/01/2024 15:15

Re Emanuel timing - I know there were a handful of children taking the exam yesterday both am and pm. Very late because of health issues in Dec. So they couldn’t really have sent interview emails by yesterday eve! I imagine they had most of their interview list in place by then though, and there were no more back up dates after that, so expect they will email very soon.

🤞🤞🤞 Really hope DD gets an interview there at least. It’s so close to us and not having a long journey is especially important for her for medical reasons.

Flimpychunk · 10/01/2024 15:56

Had a heart-in-mouth moment with this afternoon where I had an email from Hampton and just read the words “not able to offer”. I thought it was about a place but it turns out it’s just about the academic scholarship interviews!

travelturtle · 10/01/2024 16:06

@Flimpychunk exactly same here. Had never anticipated or considered an academic scholarship! Unnecessary panic being caused 😬 they could have just emailed those they wanted to interview for an academic scholarship with the good news!
