From reading the thread so far:
Reeds (boys)
Claremont Fan (co-ed)
Are in. Any more?

But this week is peak results week? Are all the other usual (independent) suspects in SW London in this week? Don't think any are going over half term right? We've only got one more thankfully (this week). Grammars are March right?

minipie · 05/02/2024 09:07

There were some girls’ schools which offered very early - Woldingham, Sutton. And I think I saw upthread that Surbiton has offered, last week I think?

Yes I believe state offers are 1 March.

FlyingPandas · 05/02/2024 09:40

I have been following rather than posting on this thread but just adding a message to wish everyone luck for this week. Totally agree @IndieAnna all the DC have worked so hard and been so resilient. It's a tough process.

@morningt0ncresent Halliford and St James (Ashford) results are also out already. We are waiting on Hampton & RGS both of which are due out on Friday.

Flimpychunk · 05/02/2024 09:43

We're waiting on Hampton, RGS and KGS this Friday, then Tiffin on March 1st. I'm feeling far more zen and unfazed than I expected - long may it last!

ItsMeHi48 · 05/02/2024 09:48

waiting on FHSS, ibstock and St James Girls but think all are Friday. Anyone know what time FHSS sent results in previous years?
good luck to everyone 🤞

Balhamdad11 · 05/02/2024 10:01

Heard some rumours that the primary headmasters get advanced notice on the outcomes. Does anyone know if this is the case?

minipie · 05/02/2024 10:03

Our prep head has hinted he gets notified slightly in advance- maybe a day or so ahead? I guess so he can prepare for any fall out if there are shock outcomes/kids who haven’t got anything.

8:30am last year. Good luck!

ItsMeHi48 · 05/02/2024 10:04

Ooh thank you for responding - would love to get any news early rather than waiting all day!

Igotafeeling · 05/02/2024 10:07

It holds true for grammar schools as results reach the schools much earlier than parents receive them. The schools can then decide whether to appeal for any of their pupils before the final results are released to parents. It's uncertain if the same practice applies to independent schools, but it's likely that secondary schools send results to schools earlier or, at the very least, simultaneously with sending them to parents.

Bluerose2020 · 05/02/2024 10:16

@Balhamdad11 I have my suspicions re this too. Our Head was definitely informed directly about whether or not pupils got interviews and knew this before parents. Haven’t heard for sure re outcomes but suspect so. It’s funny because it’s the parents that directly apply…and some senior schools asked the parents to send the Y5 school report, not the primary school, but the reference is between the schools… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m curious if any chit chat goes on behind the scenes during the process.

I am so fatigued by it all! Good luck everyone 🍀

HighRopes · 05/02/2024 10:28

Good luck for Friday, everyone! It’s a couple of years ago for me now, but I remember the anxious wait and the refreshing of emails.

Our experience was that the Head acted as though she knew about the Tiffin results a little in advance, but that (as a state primary head) either did not receive or paid no attention to anything from the private schools.

Iffiyas · 05/02/2024 10:35

good luck to everyone!

MuffinCoffee · 05/02/2024 10:52

Our prep school head got to know who all were shortlisted for interviews. He gave us a hint during pick up!

Summerma · 05/02/2024 10:57

I’ll be looking for hidden clues in our head’s eye contact for the next few days now… 😂

QuiteAJourney · 05/02/2024 10:57

In our experience prep heads gets a heads up to help them prepare for results day and, in particular conversations with the parents. That might include children not getting any offer but also, by knowing which offers DC get (or did not get), which advice to provide to parents re: WL, best fit school, etc.
Unsurprisingly, heads are usually very careful not to share that information with parents as it would impact the trust with the senior schools concerned.

Good luck to all waiting for results this week.

Summerma · 05/02/2024 11:00

Also, so grateful for this thread. It’s really helped with my nerves as I don’t feel alone with my worries. Thanks for being so supportive all!

minipie · 05/02/2024 11:49

I’m curious if any chit chat goes on behind the scenes during the process.

Yes me too. I have got the impression that there is a bit - I know senior school heads will quite often call up prep heads to discuss the reference, especially if there is anything in there that needs further explanation like a medical need or maybe a cryptic comment that could be read two ways?! I don’t know if there is much in the way of structured interaction further into the process but have been told that “opportunities sometimes arise” for a discussion, I guess if the heads happen to meet…? Obviously however the senior schools have to be careful that they are being fair to all entrants not just those from particular local feeders.

Wondermumof4 · 05/02/2024 12:49

Same here the teacher at our school always knew who got interview a day before … not sure they know the outcomes earlier though …
hope that end of week comes fast .
waiting for KGS, IPS, Emanuel and DC🤞🏻finger crossed everyone and good luck for the wait😉

It’s a nail biter! Feel nervous already and it’s only Monday.

what I have stressed to dd is that whatever the outcome im so proud of her hard work, grit, resilience and that will stand her in good stead anyway. And then I think we all deserve a giant gin.

We were in the same spot last year waiting for all results in one day - most schools except SPGS will indicate in the subject whether you have an offer or not, so it is easy to figure out, without reading through the full text

minipie · 05/02/2024 14:46

I have a feeling this is going to be a very long week.

Summerma · 05/02/2024 14:52

@minipie I said those exact words to a friend this morning. My nerves are compounded by my dreams taunting me (dreamt DS got no offers last night - even though he has an offer from backup option which I’m growing pretty fond of). I am not good with uncertainty so probably need to learn meditation!

@farfallarocks That is a spot on take - couldn’t agree more. Well done to our DCs - incredible resilience and not a wasted effort whatever the outcome.

Looking forward to getting through this, not long!

Igotafeeling · 05/02/2024 17:08

DD’s headmistress asked DD on Friday, 2nd of February, whether DD had received the SPG's result. It doesn't sound positive, considering DD had the interview on the 28th. If the headmistress was informed only a few days after the interview, it appears unfavorable to us. I am not looking forward to this Friday.🤨

tennissquare · 05/02/2024 17:27

@Igotafeeling , the secondary schools sending results on the 9th will still be finalising their lists, they have to be signed off by the top layer of governance before they can collate the responses to parents so they won't have let the primary schools know yet. The head may have been prompted to ask because other girls schools sent out offers last week.
