11 plus support thread for exams 2024

Hi all,
Anyone fancy joining me for for an 11 plus support thread for those yr 5s who are probably just starting a bit of prep now ready to sit exams in September 2024?

State grammar is the angle I'm personally coming from but all welcome no matter if you're applying to private selective, state aptitude tests etc.

This will be my 3rd and final time of going through this and I've found support threads here really useful the previous times.

Very strong pass for DD for Loreto.

Such a massive difference compared to the consortium result!

troppibambini6 · 23/10/2024 17:09

Oh that's brilliant news @slaybell and @Traffordmum81 both my girls have had a really positive experience there.

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 23/10/2024 17:41

What are the alternatives for those not achieving the required marks?
Are the remaining schools comprehensive or more like the old fashioned secondary moderns?
Is there any movement in later years?

@slaybell @Traffordmum81 congrats and also enjoy no longer having to constantly refresh your email 😂

SquashSqueezee · 23/10/2024 21:20

Congrats to all the passers and thoughts with those having to break difficult news.

Ive done my ds school application this weekend so can settle into long wait u til March to have it confirmed! We are applying to another county so as expected application was a faff involving multiple calls to team for tech assistance.

yoshiblue · 24/10/2024 11:16

Yes. The results will be released tomorrow afternoon. I just want it to be over.

Absolutely!

ElvenDreamer · 24/10/2024 12:43

Congrats to recent people with good news and much empathy with those who had to break less good news. Fingers crossed for those still waiting and also those who now need to wait until March for actual confirmation. You are all an amazing set of people and the strength, positivity and support in this group has been amazing.

Absolutely!

I wasn't prepared for such a drawn-out process, to be honest.

In the early 90's, I sat my entrance exam for the senior high school (15-18) in a certain very big city in the Far East in late February. The results were out in early March (in about 2 weeks) and we all started in early April.

LaBee · 25/10/2024 11:20

Kendrick results are finally out. And our DD passed. We think it is a score that will get her in. Thank you for this page!

ChemistryMan · 25/10/2024 11:56

The result has just come from the Blue Coat School Liverpool. Our son is in Group A!

yoshiblue · 25/10/2024 13:48

@ChemistryMan I presume this means he's passed /top group? Congrats!!!!!

Yes. Thank you. Group A is the top 180, and his place is guaranteed, which means I don't have to wait nervously till March.

yoshiblue · 25/10/2024 16:44

Fantastic! What a lovely finish to all the results!

Thanks! We've just eaten a lot of sushi to celebrate.

Great news @LaBee and @ChemistryMan!!! Have a lovely relaxing weekend now.... I can't believe how much better I've been sleeping since they came out 😆

yoshiblue · 25/10/2024 22:10

@troppibambini6 yes and my back pain has subsided too!

Thank you!
You don't realise how much of one's head space it takes over.....I feel free. And even DD who seemed so nonchalant most of the process was so overjoyed!

slaybell · 26/10/2024 07:32

Hope everyone can now relax a bit until offer day looms!

We have to wait another month to see if the review for DD's first choice is successful but it does help that she has two other Grammars to put on the CAF and 2nd and 3rd!

ChemistryMan · 27/10/2024 08:54

...and the Liverpool Council's school application portal crashes at this moment.

slaybell · 23/11/2024 10:49

Just thought I'd pop back on here to say that DD was successful in the local review for her first choice!

Long wait to March now but we are less than a mile from her first choice school so not too worried. The hardest part is over now.
