11 plus support thread for exams 2024

ElvenDreamer · 11/10/2023 08:55

Hi all,
Anyone fancy joining me for for an 11 plus support thread for those yr 5s who are probably just starting a bit of prep now ready to sit exams in September 2024?

State grammar is the angle I'm personally coming from but all welcome no matter if you're applying to private selective, state aptitude tests etc.

This will be my 3rd and final time of going through this and I've found support threads here really useful the previous times.

Poor you! That’s so long!

I’m glad you good people in Trafford are finally receiving the results now. Over here in Liverpool, the sado-masochistic psychological warfare still continues. Banzai!

yoshiblue · 22/10/2024 07:17

@ChemistryMan at least you have a sense of humour with it! 😂 I presume your schools are still term time so fingers crossed that means you’ll hear by the end of the week 🤞

Good luck to Trafford Consortium waiters today!

Still? I thought Trafford must be the last. That’s just cruel!

Good luck to all the Trafford parents today!

I have a feeling of doom this morning 😩

yoshiblue · 22/10/2024 08:32

Come on @Examstressargh positive mindset!

slaybell · 22/10/2024 08:48

Good luck everybody!

I am in training all morning (thankfully lunch break at 12). Definitely won't be taking any of it in.

Jaccolb · 22/10/2024 08:52

Are the Trafford parents following the message not to log in until we have the email? I am not logging in as instructed but can’t help but wonder if I am the only one that is actually paying any attention to that message and everyone else is refreshing every ten minutes?

good luck everyone

peacypops · 22/10/2024 09:00

Trafford mum here too. I am in meetings pretty much all day so won't be able to log on until after work. Ahh! Good luck all!

yoshiblue · 22/10/2024 09:00

@Jaccolb sadly when someone tells me not to do something, I can't help myself!

I think that message is due to system issues they had last year. It's going to have to be live on the portal before the emails go out is my way of thinking.

Jaccolb · 22/10/2024 09:03

@yoshiblue that is exactly my thinking too but I a rule follower and I am so torn between doing as I am told and wanting to log on 🤣

Following instructions is the ultimate test of self-control, but I wouldn’t be surprised if half of us are just pretending not to refresh the page every 10 minutes. It’s human nature to break the rules when we’re told not to! Good luck to everyone resisting the urge… or not!

I’m desperate to but have decided to take the kids to Delamere and do the gruffalo trail. Hopefully an excited 3 year old will distract us!

Examstressargh · 22/10/2024 09:50

There’s nothing on there yet I checked 😆

You can check for me 😂
I am autistic so when I am told not to do something it really stresses me out if I don’t follow that rule (obviously if it was a safety thing that is different!) Nothing to do with self control (I wish!)

troppibambini6 · 22/10/2024 10:10

Good luck to all those waiting today 🤞

troppibambini6 · 22/10/2024 10:10

I may have had a little peek.... obviously you know just to check 😆

yoshiblue · 22/10/2024 10:11

@Jaccolb my DS is neurodiverse too and would 100% be with you in following the rules!

We'll tell you if anything changes earlier than 12!

Jaccolb · 22/10/2024 10:25

@yoshiblue thank you!

troppibambini6 · 22/10/2024 12:10

Trafford are out ds passed. How everyone else has had good news

Jaccolb · 22/10/2024 12:12

DD passed. Hope everyone else was also successful 🤞

evtheria · 22/10/2024 12:18

I'm sorry, we're really new/ignorant of the whole grammar system...
I've logged in to see DS's results. There are a few different numbers... he doesn't just have one score that we use against all options in Trafford Consortium?

slaybell · 22/10/2024 12:20

DD passed for Stretford which is her second choice after Urmston.

She was 3 marks off Urmston so will look at the local review but I really liked Stretford so pleased either way and super proud of her

troppibambini6 · 22/10/2024 12:23

@evtheria you will have a different mark for each school you then need to see what that schools pass mark is (it says in the bit under the school)
