Is anyone waiting to hear tomorrow?

Just wanted to say it's a horrendous but you're nearly there! And it'll work out all right in the end even if you don't get the school you were hoping for. Good Luck!

really feel for you all. we were in catchment for our 1st choice two years ago, so were lucky, but Ds's best friend got in after 2 appeals. So even bad news isn't the end of it.

frogs · 03/03/2008 17:55

Did you have good news, posey?

Lucycat · 03/03/2008 18:07

SorenLorenson - Have you heard yet? I know you won't be applying for 'my' school, but I know a few of the Macc schools and was just being nosey

Nightmare Swedishmum! Are the other schools closer to you?

seeker · 03/03/2008 18:48

Swedishmum - where are you? Are you near any of the schools with a dyslexia unit? Would it be worth appealing to one of them?

Do primary school headteachers find out at the same time as us or are they privy to such knowledge beforehand? Just wondering how it works.

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 18:52

I believe they already know, to prpare themselves for any backlash from parents that might not be happy!

The primary heads do know - they have to to do the Head teacher's appeals! In Kent, they know in late January!

Christywhisty · 03/03/2008 19:11

Our primary school in Herts definitely had a list before we knew.

Posey · 03/03/2008 19:19

Frogs - yes it was good news! 1st choice although tbh I would've been okay with any of the first 3. Couldn't quite believe the result was there, I only looked to make sure I knew exactly where on the website I had to login etc for a speedy look in the morning.

swedishmum · 03/03/2008 19:19

Thanks for the sympathy. I can and will appeal - I knew the HT wouldn't appeal but will get his 11plus marks from them tomorrow. There is a school with a dyslexia unit the same distance away but as ds has worked so hard to improve his reading up to his chronological age and gets (low) average results for literacy he wouldn't be seen by them. That's the frustrating thing - through his and my hard work (I did a year long postgrad dyslexia teaching course to support him and go into his school to teach him) he's done himself out of extra help. Never mind his potential to achieve and his great attitude.
Whine over. Off to update my CV and read up on appeals.

Good luck, swedishmum.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/03/2008 20:06

Monkeybird - yes I'm in Stoke. Are you?

MaureenMLove · 03/03/2008 20:10

My SIL, who always poo poos me when I say, 'I heard that on Mumnets', has just phoned to say thankyou for preventing one last sleepless night! She checked the council website, on MN/my advice and my niece passed and got her first choice!

swedishmum · 03/03/2008 20:44

Many thanks seeker - I know of the site but hadn't thought of it for appeals.

unknownrebelbang · 03/03/2008 20:48

Saggars, the local situation is a complete mess, isn't it?

Thankfully mine shouldn't be too badly affected.

Two down, youngest to go (next year, oh joy)

Swedishmum, good luck.
