Is anyone waiting to hear tomorrow?

Just wanted to say it's a horrendous but you're nearly there! And it'll work out all right in the end even if you don't get the school you were hoping for. Good Luck!

Hate to sound smug but I got an e-mail when I got home this afternoon. All well. Feel ridicuosly pleased all in all.

Hope you all have good news soon.

marina · 03/03/2008 16:10

Soren try again a bit later on. It might struggle back on to its feet again

SorenLorensen · 03/03/2008 16:11

I will, Marina - I've just got myself all psyched up and nowhere to go

SorenLorensen · 03/03/2008 16:12

Tbh, I think it very likely we will be one of the 100,000 who don't get their first choice. I just want to know.

VanillaPumpkin · 03/03/2008 16:13

Soren - Our system crashed for dd's admissions last year (only primary). I rang the council and they told me over the phone...

PestoMonster · 03/03/2008 16:13

If the letters are only posted 2nd class, then we might not know until the end of the week then....

Why can't Brighton & Hove do online results like everyone else... Moan, moan!

marina · 03/03/2008 16:13

It must be vvvvv difficult
I am on tenterhooks for someone I know whose dc may fall foul of a new banding system for an oversubscribed "non-selective" school.

marina · 03/03/2008 16:13

Can't you contact the nice lady who helped you out before Soren?

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 03/03/2008 16:15

Glad the news was good, OrmIrian, even if you have now made me feel even more .

SorenLorensen · 03/03/2008 16:17

There were several nice ladies, Marina

marina · 03/03/2008 16:20

Go and chop veg with a big knife

SorenLorensen · 03/03/2008 16:20

Aha...there is a new message on the website:

If you have attempted to view your offer and have so far been unsuccessful, please be assured that your offer will be available online by the end of the working day. Please do not contact the Authority directly as information will not be given out over the telephone.

We shall see.

OrmIrian · 03/03/2008 16:21

Sorry Queenmeabh!

It might make you feel better to know that we are sending him to a school that until recently had a terrible reputation (and I mean terrible!) but on the advice of teaching and LEA friends, other parents, pupils and anyone else we could ask, Ofsted reports etc etc PLUS our own feelings about the place and DS#1's, we are taking a chance. It was that, or 2 schools I wouldn't send a dog to, or a supposedly 'good' school that is an exam factory that would simply not suit my DS. So ...I'm still keeping everything crossed that we haven't made a huge mistake.

SorenLorensen · 03/03/2008 16:21

I think I might mash potatoes and flatten steak with one of those spikey hammers (I don't have a spikey hammer or any steak, for that matter, but that's what I feel like doing!)

marina · 03/03/2008 16:26

do sausages and pretend they are Wiener Schnitzel

unknownrebelbang · 03/03/2008 16:47

We found out on Saturday.

There are some in the class though (who live in the neighbouring borough) who haven't found out yet.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/03/2008 16:50

Did you get what you wanted rebel?

Lots of disappointment in the primary I work in today - especially becuase of all the mooted closures.

unknownrebelbang · 03/03/2008 16:56

Yes, thankfully.

DS1 is already there, so an added tick, lol.

Everyone seems to have got what they wanted, except the two (I think) who don't know yet, but then there's only about 17/18 in the year.

swedishmum · 03/03/2008 17:13

My gorgeous ds has been offered a place at the worst school in town - wasn't even on my list and hell will freeze over before he steps foot in there. Nearly all 4s (outstandingly low) on last month's ofsted. Know 3 people who work there - not a good report in sight. Right, off to find a job that pays me enough to pay the ridiculous £12k the only decent alternative costs. Funnily, there are plenty of vacancies at said totally crappy school.

OrmIrian · 03/03/2008 17:14

So sorry swedishmum How awful.

RosaIsRed · 03/03/2008 17:18

Swedishmum, I am so sorry. Can you appeal?

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 03/03/2008 17:36

What a nightmare, swedishmum - you should appeal. What do you think went wrong? That is just what I dread - the school I'm expecting to get (stupidly, no.4 on my list) is improving but the next nearest one is shockingly bad.

OrmIrian, my local school didn't have a great reputation until recently but got a "Good" Ofsted (nearly all 2s) last year and got a mention in The Guardian magazine's "Let's move to...." recently!!! The only other good schools here are church ones or the much-touted Academy which has a lottery for admissions.

I have had an email saying I can view my son's result tomorrow - thanks, I knew that already!

Posey · 03/03/2008 17:45

Calling all Londoners who were told to view tomorrow, I've just looked and our offers are now available to view online.

Swedishmum, so sorry you have such a sh*t offer. Get on to them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 03/03/2008 17:48

Thanks Posey - ds got the local school (despite my mistaken 4th place on the form).

Monkeybird · 03/03/2008 17:52

Saggar, do you live in/near S-o-T/N-u-L perchance?

This thread has me panicking and DS is only 9 FFS, so what schools in North Staffs do I worry about/try to get into...?
