8am tomorrow for grade boundaries

joan12 · 23/08/2023 16:45

We've been told 8 for grades 815 for detailed breakdown and grade boundaries

I'm more nervous than I was for my own results!

WaitingforThursday · 23/08/2023 16:56

Thanks, I will be on the OCR website at 8!
I wish we had ours uploaded to the portal/emailed. It seems really outdated to make them go into school and open it in front of everyone. Even worse when they then don't open till 9.

AnxiousElephant77 · 23/08/2023 17:04

Does anyone have any idea what they will actually get at 8am before they get their full transcript from school?

Neversaygoodbye · 23/08/2023 17:05

Due to the size of the school, my DS won't be able to collect results until 10:15 as they split them into the separate colleges and he's in the later group. It should all be online these days, the 6th form colleges managed to do this with far larger numbers of students.

Hellocatshome · 23/08/2023 17:09

DSs school not opening until 9am and now we have to take DSs friend as well which isn't ideal as I was hoping DS would open them in the car with us in case he is dissapointed/upset.

Ours are emailed at 8am, to the candidate not the parent! Kids can also go in at 8 and staff there from 8.

joan12 · 23/08/2023 17:26

Ours get the number grade but I hadn't realised how different it is across schools, so maybe others get something different

mumonthehill · 23/08/2023 17:34

Ds gone fishing!!! His big brother taken him so hopefully this will help. I am going to have a glass of wine.......

lemonyellows · 23/08/2023 17:35

My DS has to go to school to collect. No email or online option.

I think it's just hitting him it is tomorrow and starting to get nervous.

Aargh. I just want him to get enough for his college place.

NCTDN · 23/08/2023 17:40

We've just had an email saying that if they're not collected by 10.30, they will be sent to the child's school email address. But ds told me the other day that this email account has been closed now?'

madremia1 · 23/08/2023 17:53

Anyone here privy to roughly how the boundaries are looking for this year yet? (I do know they're released at 8am tomorrow but just really curious)...

spiderlight · 23/08/2023 17:55

Oh God. I am ten times more nervous than I was for my own results. DS was so ill from February onwards today I really don't know what to expect. I'm immensely proud of him for just managing to sit all the exams. He's such a bright lad though - I know the grades won't be what he should have achieved because he missed three whole months and the school were pretty useless so he had to do all the preparation by himself while feeling dreadful and sit the exams on teams strong anti-nausea meds and beta blockers. He has a vague plan B but I just have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

I suspect if they were privy it would be gross misconduct to talk about it here before they are released!

BobBobBobbing · 23/08/2023 18:13

Spider, you never know. I missed 6 months of gcses due to illness and then did half days only for another 6 months. I had no support at all. School told me I'd fail and needed to drop most subjects but being super stubborn I refused. I ended up with 8As and 1 A* which was a massive surprise as I was convinced I'd fail everything too.

Aaarghthepancakes · 23/08/2023 18:16

Good luck all. Especially to those whose DC are doing resits.

lemonyellows · 23/08/2023 18:42

Yes good luck all. And hope we all get at least some sleep tonight!!!

reluctantbrit · 23/08/2023 18:48

I just bought wine. DD is in a state and doesn't want to talk about it.

She has two offers, her preferred one has slightly lower grade requirements so we hope for the best. Her mocks in English weren't great but she said the exam papers were better than the mock questions so we have some hope.

So far no Plan B as all the colleges here do practical courses and DD is set on academic. It's ridiculous, her chosen A-level subjects are the ones she will get the grades for (according to mocks) but she struggles with her English grade as she hated the books and poems. Hard to be motivated if you do nothing apart from dystopian and depressing literature.

spiderlight · 23/08/2023 18:53

That's amazing, @BobBobBobbingBobBobBobbing ! Gives me hope!

naughty40me · 23/08/2023 18:53

My DS's school is opening at 10am to give out results.

I'm so nervous but I'm positive he's done well.

The college allow maths resits alongside A Levels but not English.

Anyone without a 4 or above cannot enrol.

God I won't sleep tonight.

As ever he is super chill 😎 says I'm stressing for nothing and it's no big deal!! Oh to be young and carefree....

Hersetta427 · 23/08/2023 18:54

DD seems to be coping well at the moment - just gone out with her best friend (have been best friends since reception) to a local lake for a dinner picnic.

I think I am more nervous - even had a dream about results last night which is very weird as I never remember my dreams. In the dream she got 9's in Maths and English. DD laughed and said it was definitely not accurate when I told her !

DD's first choice 6th form need 7's in her A level subjects plus 60 points over all her gcse's . She should acheive this but she won't be allowed to take the two sciences she has chosen if she doesn't so fingers crossed she hasn't completely flunked one or two.

Good luck tomorrow everyone.

ignoreignoreignore · 23/08/2023 19:00

Have been lurking and now feeling very unsettled. DD can go to school from 8am. I'm 400 miles away dealing with family illness so feeling guilty I won't be there. DH will be though. She is staying at the same school for 6th form so no stress regarding that but she needs to get 7s for the a level subjects she wants to do and not sure she will! ( on paper she should but some exams went really badly...) But as she's staying on, the teachers at least know her and she says she'll argue her case...
Good luck to all tomorrow!

ignoreignoreignore · 23/08/2023 19:01

@Hersetta427 - I recognise your name from a pregnancy thread 16 years ago! I name change quite a lot!

OnthePisteAgain · 23/08/2023 19:02

Joining in for support. We are heading into school after 9 tomorrow. DS is predicted good grades but has been spooked by the A level results. He's now convinced he's failed English Lang due to his pretty poor handwriting. I can just about decipher most of it, just hope his examiner can!

Takoneko · 23/08/2023 19:05

I’ve just popped on to wish everyone luck.

As a Head of Sixth Form I also want to reassure people that Sixth Form admissions are really not as competitive as many schools try to make them sound. With a decent crop of grades, your kids will find places. In most cases Sixth Forms and colleges need bums on seats because budgets are shot to pieces.

I know some people said they were worried about DC holding only one, very high offer. If they miss out on that place but have decent grades there will be plenty of places that will have spaces for them, regardless of whether they are holding an offer or not.

These kids have been through so much stress and worry and I hate how Sixth Form admissions in some places has turned into such a high-pressure process. They really don’t need the added worry. Flowers
