Same experience here unfortunately. Not sure why this approach is being taken.

It is quite puzzling - they are losing people that had them as preferred option and also quite a lot of goodwill

Yes it is strange, I read in this thread SPGS and WHS have gone to their waitlists.

WNLastX · 03/03/2023 15:36

Got an email from Emanuel about their wait list, although we chose not to go on it, saying all their places were full but you could opt to stay on it just in case.

EA1999 · 03/03/2023 15:41

So emanuel didn’t go to their waiting list at all? Wow!

WNLastX · 03/03/2023 15:45

They might have done a few before deadline day but I think they are all done now bar the few that may multiple deposit. But I doubt many actually do that.

Co-eds seem very popular this year.

I have been saying that relatively more parents seem to prefer coed to single sex this year.

It swings and roundabouts, from year to year

I'm not sure how that's possible, you have to accept/ reject the offer on the e-admissions system fairly promptly? Unless you mean they accept but never bother to then reject it later?

Yes, I think this is what happens quite often. People have an independent school place but accept the state school one while they think about money / distance. Then they never release the state school place (because they don’t have to pay a deposit etc).

sidorek · 03/03/2023 16:50

G&L deadline is 6th March.

1forward2back · 03/03/2023 19:35

@QuiteAJourney not sure you’re right re Sutton high. They’ve apparently emailed today to say not going to waiting list and full. Our neighbour wAs on the waiting list and now going to accept Ibstock instead, although she’s also on WHS waitlist and hoping as they are moving she may be offered. From DD’s old prep WhatsApp it’s seeming that SPGS, KGS, WHS, IPS all moving now. Emanuel, LU full and G+L seem to be too. Nobody has heard from Surbiton.

QuiteAJourney · 03/03/2023 19:41

@1forward2back I had heard that Sutton High had moved to WL but I might have been mistaken (person was not directly involved, had heard from another mum) and you have first hand knowledge. They might have got confused with SCHS, which has gone to WL.

I have heard the same re: those moving / not moving that you mention in your email. Harrodian has also moved to WL.

PHS seems not to have moved to WL either. Deadline for them and WHS is Monday morning so would be interesting to see the impact that the later deadline has on them (I would have assumed that most people have made their decision already, unless that they are doubting between 2 schools with a Monday deadline... and pushing it to the limit).

If anyone hears of the Radnor waiting list moving, please can you let me know, thanks.

Shiningsun · 04/03/2023 16:57

Did anyone hear from G&L today regarding wait list movement?

Did anyone hear from G&L today regarding wait list movement?

We released our offer last week and I know of 2 other families who have done the same - so hopefully on the 6th there will be movement.

Shiningsun · 04/03/2023 19:51

Thanks @WimMum2015 which school did you finally choose?

Lolakath19 · 04/03/2023 20:38

@1forward2back did G&L communicated on being full?

knopka · 05/03/2023 20:42

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend (I know there are still some deadlines on Monday).

For those who have chosen Emanuel (10 + and 11+), please feel free to connect. We cannot attend an event for new pupils as we won't be coming back until July so would be amazing to connect before the school starts. We are in SW London.

Ilikelists · 05/03/2023 23:24

Any waitlist movement over the weekend? Is it crazy to wait until nearly the deadline for a place at the preferred school?

gabster33 · 06/03/2023 00:19

CruCru · 03/03/2023 07:25

Also if anyone has a state school place that they aren’t going to take up, please could you turn it down? I’ve heard of people (no one I know) not bothering then leaving the state school place unfilled in September. This could be screwing things up for a child with fewer options.

My daughter got her Graveney place on the first day of term as two children didn't turn up. She was able to start with the cohort thankfully. But yes people need to turn down state places if they don't want them.

I honestly can't understand some people. It's so unfair on those desperate to get a place. Wishing those luck for the Putney wait list this morning!

Latest that I heard was of movements in IPS WL on Friday evening. Not sure if admissions teams would have been working over the weekend.
Quite a few schools with deadlines at midday today - hopefully some movement for those waiting.
Anecdotally, we know quite a few families that accepted on Friday before midday (as that was the deadline for the school chosen) and waited to get confirmation before relinquishing the last other offer(s) they were holding on Friday pm.

Jags was offering from their WL on Friday too.

EA1999 · 06/03/2023 13:31

Has anyone heard from Putney?

QuiteAJourney · 06/03/2023 13:38

@EA1999 There are people in the thread focused on WLs that have mentioned that a friend of theirs got an offer from PHS from WL on Friday. Tbh, not sure what is going on with PHS as I know of people that phoned on that day and the school would not even share whether they were going to WL or not or where their DD was placed (even in general terms).
