@MummyRules1
I received email from Emanuel today morning saying that they haven't started offering places to WL yet

Shiningsun · 02/03/2023 10:52

Any news about G&L, other than the email of no movement earlier this week? Still curious how will they offer if their waitlist is unranked and if they will offer!

Thank you for the new thread! We released other places and officially accepted Halliford yesterday so thrilled for our DS as it’s his and our first choice- such a lovely school! Any other DS’s also joining this September? Or current parents? Well done to all with Tiffin offers and all offers - this has been a long process- well done to all the DC’s and you Parents too!

Yes, we’ve accepted a place for Y7 September and have a current Y8 sibling. Very happy with the school. Don’t know any others starting for Y7 but have a few friends on waiting list so keeping everything crossed they start moving soon 🤞🏻

Well done to your DS! Glad your other DS happy there- all were thrilled that our DS going it seems like such a wonderful school!

Clearly none of these schools are actually operating unranked waiting lists. They might choose not to tell parents where their child is, so that (as has been said before on here) they have the flex to replace a child who's declined with one of a similar profile eg strong in music or sport / a very confident child or a more shy child. But of course the WL is ranked. They're not just going to pull WL names out of a hat!

On behalf of friends I am wondering if there is any movement on the WLs for the following:

  • Emanuel
  • Streatham & Clapham High School
  • Royal Russell
  • Alleyn's

Has anyone who was originally on the WL for any of those school been told they now have an offer?

I'm likely to decline a Streatham and Clapham offer today/tomorrow - just making a very final decision. Lovely school by the way - its all about the travel...

I just released LEH and Putney. We're very lucky to be surrounded by so many brilliant schools. The differences between many of them are negligible and of course the schools that only take in a narrow band of the most academic children are going to appear higher up the league tables, but that doesn't mean your bright child won't do just as well elsewhere. Good luck to everyone making difficult decisions today and to all those on WLs everywhere.

Curious to know..which school did you choose?

Flamingokicks · 02/03/2023 12:51

I love the look of Halliford and def want to consider it for younger DS but wondering if the journey would be too much of a pig. He’d have to get the shuttle from Walton station.

Hi :) hope everyone is doing well. Just wondering if anyone has heard of SPGS waitlist moving? I have a friend waiting ..

LondonMum20222 · 02/03/2023 13:26

@Lolakath19 There have been quite a few people on here mentioning that they're declining SPGS places but no mention of WL moving yet so I'm guessing they're still in over-offers territory at the moment. But someone said the acceptance deadline was 9am this morning so presumably if it's going to start moving, it'll be fairly imminent.

WNLastX · 02/03/2023 14:05

We just declined a Whitgift and St. Dunstan's this morning.

I know both over-offer but I think most Independents have been burned by over-offering in the recent past, so most might put more on the waitlist nowadays. Here's hoping for those on WLs finally start to see some movement.

Vista123 · 02/03/2023 14:37

I'd be interested in any movement on the Putney High Waiting List. For my DD but also for a friend. Thank you

I've got a son at Halliford - we are very happy with it.

Yes, it was. Does anyone know when is the deadline for G&L, LU?

Daydreamscometrue · 02/03/2023 20:04

We accepted LU today and turned down Dulwich. Fingers crossed for those on WL.

Lolakath19 · 02/03/2023 20:05

Deadline for LU is tomorrow noon
Godolphin is monday at 12

So pleased for you and your DS! I know it has been challenging to decide between those 2 (great) options!

@QuiteAJourney Indeed it has! Thank you so much for this thread and for your help and support throughout this process. It's been invaluable. It wasn't long ago that we expected we may end up at KGS together!

Thanks to you for coming on the journey and being always so open and constructive.
I agree re: KGS (it was hard to reject but made sense, for both of us).. and an example of how things change with time / once you have the offers on the table.
