SW London boys 11+ 2022 entry

Hi, my DS is in year 5 and we're struggling with not being able to see schools in person. We're having a think about where to apply and at the moment KCL is a favourite geographically but we haven't seen it so don't have a feel for the vibe. We went to see Hampton and KGS before the first lockdown without DS and liked them both. The Emanuel tours booked so quickly when they were released a few weeks ago, I think they are releasing more slots soon. Just wondering if anyone can give us a feeling of the vibe of these schools. Does anyone know what is happening with the headteacher at Kings? They seem to have an acting head at the moment.

Just speaking to another mum friend... she hasn’t received all the marketing. Is that a sign or am I convincing myself 😆🙈

One of the schools DS has applied to is similarly putting in a marketing effort. DS got a Christmas card and what appears to be a hand written letter from a current Year 7 pupil about all the wonderful things they have done this year, and how he shouldn’t worry about not knowing anyone, or having a commute, or finding his way around etc etc. It’s one he hasn’t sat the exam for yet, so pretty sure it’s gone to all candidates

@Mumchumof2 , it's more likely the emails have gone to junk or her partner's email account.

DS also invited. Incredibly relieved as his older brother is at the school and DS loves it there. Good luck to all - it is a great school.

Congratulations all! It was a no for us, which is disappointing but not unexpected. Now to figure out how to tell ds…😬

We’ll done @Sweetnhappy, @mimisilly, @13milebeach. We loved Hamptons, but we didn’t apply in the end because we couldn’t see how we could make the commute work, unfortunately.

@blandpedant If it is any help my dd didn't get through to interview at LEH several years ago and was called to an interview for English Lit at Cambridge just a couple of weeks ago. It is so much more about the child than the school - hope he finds a school that he loves.

@Gettingcloser21 I think for those scholarship cadidates had receieved a phone call from the school three days ago already. My DS classmates said he got a phone call three days ago and given the interview date.
In my DS's invitation, it didn't give me a specific interview date yet. They will let us know early next week. So I assume scholarships interviews are dealing differently and already confirmed.

Just got the confirmed interview date email.

Thanks @mimisilly. It was for a co-curricular scholarship but the school confirmed those won’t be assessed until January.

Hello, my DS got an interview invite from Hampton too. Does anybody have any idea how many boys invited for interview and how many seats are there finally.

I'm just being nosey but as a Hampton current parent are they doing the entrance interviews online or at the school on Wednesday?

@sunshineclouds24 The interview email invites DS to attend in person on Wednesday but also says they'll email us tomorrow to confirm whether it will still go ahead in person or switch to online.

@ best of luck, I wonder what they will do, it's so many people on site the day before the start of term but on site is so much better than remote. Perhaps they are working out how many teachers are currently isolating.

Hi, we haven’t recvd any email from Hampton as yet but my DS’s interview is on 8th. Best to call them tomorrow morning. Anyways all the best to your DS.
