Your Year 11 child - when do they finish school?

Year 11 DD feels hard done by as her state school is keeping them in full time until Friday 11th June, whereas her cousin (also a state school and in the same local authority) breaks up for the summer tomorrow, 14th May. The disparity is crazy! Are these the two extremes of the spectrum?

Forgot to add - as far as I can see, all the formal assessments in DD's school are pretty much finished. I can't decide whether it's a good thing that they're keeping them longer or whether it's a waste of everyone's time.

Last exam that morning. Weak orange squash and biscuits, accompanied by false jollity from Headmaster in token celebration. Off the premises by 1:30pm please.

Mine finishes on the 20th May as that's the last day of exams. They are having a leaving party early June (haven't been given the date yet).

7th June will be last day they have to go in, but the rest of that week they’re running optional leaver week activities finishing with a theme park trip on the 11th.

21st may finish so teachers can then moderate evidence then back in for week (optional I think) mid June to do "events" preparing them for y12. Hopefully they have some sort of party then too but don't know yet

It was half term, with optional activities after that. However they are all in isolation after a teacher and two students tested positive for covid, and as assessments can't be done remotely they have added a week after half term. Unfortunately looks like we are also moving that week!

28th May for my Y11. Friends at different schools finish on a range of dates e.g.7th, 14th (today). Some sixth forms are putting on a fortnight of transition stuff in July, many others are setting A-level prep work to be handed in each week.

28th May for DD's school, with the proviso that individuals may be contacted during half term and asked to come back in first week after half term.

28th May, last exam assessment that day. Back in for a week after half term if further exams assessments needed.
Prom Celebration party 9 July.

Last day 27th May, with leavers service and bbq. Invited in for an optional week in June for 'life skills' workshops and confidence building. Prom in July.

Next Thursday and I can't wait. Dd2 is the youngest of my five and after 19 years of doing school runs I'm looking forward to it. I also have the week after booked off work so hopefully we will spend some time together.

28th May, but have to be available in the first week of June after HT, for some reason. Just hoping they get their summer of freedom and fun. Hope we all do.

18th June ! They have two weeks of Sixth form bridging stuff after half-term.

I am very glad as the summer will be very long !

Exams finish 21st May, then online learning for a week (or pupils to come in to finish coursework so students need to be available) before half term. Not sure who will engage with the online learning after assessments though.

Then back after half term for 2 weeks of A level transition activities - although we don’t what that looks like yet. Leavers Prom booked for end of June.

Last day of lessons today 14th may then 2 weeks of in for exams only official last day is 28th may. My dd is relieved as she has had enough and hates the silly stuff.

I think ours are keeping them longer to do preparation for sixth form / college after exams. They were due to do work experience after exams and finish early July.

Finishes exams next week. Last week of May in school for sports day, trips out x3, films, year photo etc. They are trying to make it nice for them.
