Anyone's DS take the 11+ at Reeds on Tuesday? I would be nice to know when people start hearing results! I know on the letter it says results posted on 30th, but I'm fairly sure we heard earlier than that when our eldest took the test!

Yes my DS also did it. Not sure when the letters come out but hoping the next few weeks go quickly!

somekindofmagic · 09/01/2020 07:20

Nervously waiting for Reeds here too! We thought it was a well organised morning and they really seemed to put the boys at ease. DS was happy which is the main thing. Agree.... hoping the next few weeks fly by 😊

somekindofmagic · 09/01/2020 07:21

@ticking is your eldest at Reeds now? Have you been happy with the school if so? Do they have a sibling policy?

ticking · 09/01/2020 13:38

@somekindofmagic no - didn't get in, but DS2 is a different child with different strengths so open minded about which school he goes to.

@jor456 I think the "no's" come out more quickly but not sure - it definitely said they'd be posted on 30th on the letter.

What other schools are people going for, DS will be Claremont and Radnor House at the weekend, and then Halliford.

Same here for Claremont @ticking. I really like the school... I think it's moving in a hugely positive way under the new head. And those grounds.... We too are open minded about which school.

jor456 · 10/01/2020 14:33

My DS is sitting for St Johns next week but Reeds is our favourite.

ticking · 12/01/2020 09:31

I checked back from when my eldest DS took the exam for Reeds and we had a response from the school 3 weeks after the test by letter. with Claremont it arrived by email the following Friday (so 6 days).

Thx for the info @ticking. Yes Claremont next stage email should be here next Friday. Quick turnaround! Doing my level best to remain patient. Why does 3 weeks feel such a long time 😏

Mumintherain · 13/01/2020 10:29

My DS is sitting Reeds at the moment and this is our last 11+ exam. I really liked Reeds at the open day. Quite a few boys seemed to be sitting today. It was one of the few schools to offer an alternative day for clashes.

somekindofmagic · 13/01/2020 13:19

How did it go @mumintherain? We got the standard ‘ok’! But he was smiling so that’s the main thing.

Mumintherain · 13/01/2020 13:50

He was quite happy, it seemed to be a much shorter exam than others he did followed by a pretty straight forward interview. I don’t think there are any more extra exam dates are there? So don’t need to be to careful about what we reveal?

somekindofmagic · 13/01/2020 14:33

Yes that's correct! As far as I know today was the last sitting - as you said, the alternative date for clashes last Tuesday. It was a comparatively shorter exam, which was great. I think the teachers really tried to put the boys at ease in the interview and DS seemed to have a bit of fun with it. The wait continues.....

Mumintherain · 13/01/2020 14:52

Did your ds also get the desert island question on interview?

Frazzledmumofboys · 13/01/2020 15:38

No desert island question here! I didn’t realise slightly different tests on the alternative exam day - that must make it hard for the school to compare. I don’t envy them! How did the DC sitting the exams last week find it? Feedback here was that the comprehension/VR had some tricky bits.

mummy2aPrince09 · 13/01/2020 16:56

Yes ds got the deserted island question! He said book, football and mummy 🙈
Although they don’t do football!

somekindofmagic · 13/01/2020 17:19

Ah that’s sweet @mummy2aPrince09. They are only 10 after all! DS got what would you do if you were PM for the day! Not sure what I would’ve answered 😮.

mummy2aPrince09 · 13/01/2020 18:38

When should we expect to get replies?

somekindofmagic · 13/01/2020 18:42

The email sent just before the exam says letters are posted 30 Jan.

logfire2020 · 13/01/2020 19:20

Helpful to know the English section was more challenging @Frazzledmumofboys. DS told me he struggled with it, he is dyslexic, so lots of words he had never seen before and proofreading. It will be challenging.

On the other hand he found the maths easy. He did enjoy the interview though. With a 10 year old boy, what randomly comes out....I'd struggle as an interviewer not to break out into laughter.

somekindofmagic · 13/01/2020 20:25

Yes feedback here was that the comprehension was quite tricky.

BooRadley7 · 14/01/2020 12:43

Nervously waiting... does anyone know roughly how many sat for Reed’s? My DS recognised about 5 other boys who all sat Reed’s, RGS and Claremont(Monday exam). Seems so competitive this year 😬

somekindofmagic · 14/01/2020 12:50

I agree @BooRadley7. The numbers of applicants seem to have increased year on year for a while. I was told by a member of Reeds staff that 600 boys were sitting this year. I don’t know if that includes those who sat yesterday. I hope so! A lot of applicants will sit multiple schools and of course can only take 1 place so when it all shakes down hopefully everyone ends up where they are supposed to be.

Fernandes32 · 15/01/2020 13:53

Yes we took the Reeds exam last week, plus St Georges and have St Johns tomorrow….the wait is awful...
