Hello All,

Welcome to thread 6 - results...

Last thread here:

Gcses 2019 support thread 5 http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3610608-gcses-2019-support-thread-5

It's been a fantastically supportive set of threads to date with a diverse set of expectations and challenges (for both parents and children).

I expect this thread may be the most emotive for us all (crikey how did the time fly!!)

Good luck everyone Thanks

That was meant to be encouraging! I teach and I know how hard it is to get a 4 x

marmiteloversunite · 22/08/2019 08:38

Would be really happy with 5's!

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 08:39

Grass- fantastic results well done to your Dd. I’m sitting in the car outside, school insist they won’t hand out until 9am so Dd waiting

Michaelahpurple · 22/08/2019 08:40

Grass greener - wow, so very well done. Shows real discipline which in teens is not common, as well as ability

Michaelahpurple · 22/08/2019 08:43

Ds's email is due at 9am so am busy packing DS2 off to orchestra camp and then will debate waking the big one. Actually, given how grumpy he is on waking perhaps not - he might refuse to show me! Actually, I know the password to his Comouter .... but then he really wouldn't talk to me ever again!

Have just let off steam by compiling a spreadsheet of grade boundaries as percentages for the relevant grades for each subject (five different boards, madly) - not sure why as his email will give only grades and no mark information at all!

Bimkom · 22/08/2019 08:47

Congratulations @grasswillbeGreener, amazing results for your DD!

behindlocknumbernine · 22/08/2019 08:49

Good morning, I am here. Very nervous. Dd is still asleep....
I am not going to torture myself with grade boundaries.
It will be touch and go whether dd will be allowed to do biology at her preferred college (and enrolment is not until next Wednesday so it's wait and see).
This afternoon is enrolment for her 2nd choice college - we have decided that if they let her do biology she will enrol, and then if 1st choice college accept her too we will cancel 2nd choice....

Results can be collected from school from 11. She is walking up with her best friend whilst best friend's mum (who is my closest friend too) and I nervously drink coffee....

Binkom - well done. Dd will be happy with 5s and 6s....

Wibble…..

blondestresshead · 22/08/2019 08:52

What a brilliant thread! - wish I had found this months ago!
2 hours to go.......DD still asleep.......but was distraught last night. Months of poor sleeping and chronic stress eczema - will be glad to get this over with! She's had a tough ride through secondary, has been bullied and left out frequently, and has had a lot of pressure put on her by her teachers and headteacher to achieve top grades (which she is capable of but has no confidence in herself).
Just hoping today ends with a happy face and not a sobbing wreck Sad

Sososour · 22/08/2019 08:58

Dd has just left ..

slingthegin · 22/08/2019 08:59

Checking in. Well done to grass's DD, she should be rightly proud of herself.

DS still asleep. I feel nauseous and trying my best to ignore texts from family coming in. Our results are in after 10am.

pointythings · 22/08/2019 09:11

We're off in 10 minutes. DD just desperately wants the 6 in maths that will let her do Biology A level - it's the subject she's found toughest.

Hoooo · 22/08/2019 09:12

Sat in the car park waiting for 9.30

Thanks everyone for your company these last few months x

Ligresa · 22/08/2019 09:13

All done here. One big disappointment- a 6 in classics- wants to do A level and felt the exam went really well. Apart from that, 7s 8s and a 9 so all good. I feel drained! Good luck everyone x

Sososour · 22/08/2019 09:15

She’s done really well.
9s in Maths, Chemistry, physics, Biology History, Photography, Art
8s in English Literature and French
A* in Music
7 in English Language
Gosh.. the relief that the hard work paid off and that she’s happy
Good luck to everyone’s DC!

TheStirrer · 22/08/2019 09:23

Good luck to all those waiting to get their results.
Results have been overshadowed slightly as we shipped off our daughter to the USA to study the IB for sixth form this weekend so struggling with empty nest syndrome and worried about how she’s getting on.

See stayed up late to get her results via email. She FaceTimed us in tears at 7am this morning - I panicked thinking that she was disappointed. Apparently it was tears of relief thank goodness! She worked so hard and got straight 9s so is really pleased.

Luckily 6th form didn’t depend on grades but really feel for those kids who are under pressure to get grades for college - good luck to them all.

lightlypoached · 22/08/2019 09:24

DS got what he needed. 3x7 s in the sciences (should that be 7 squared😂?)

And 5/6 for the rest.

Given that he's a clever boy it's lower than he should have got but hopefully a lesson for A levels and he should now get his head down.

Relieved.

Good to see all the other results coming in and good luck to those still waiting.

Saucery · 22/08/2019 09:25

Awww he bloody aced them the little smarty pants. We were permitted to enter the building and did some mingling n celebrating

lightlypoached · 22/08/2019 09:26

Also one of DS mates had a note in his results, apologising that they had lost one of his maths papers so they'd had to give him a grade without it. Never heard of that before ! But he got the grade he needed so no harm done. Shock

frugalkitty · 22/08/2019 09:28

We are off soon, DS is still in the shower Hmm DH wants to come but I'm hoping to persuade him to stay at home because I've got some Elemis goodies being delivered today so as not to overwhelm DS Grin

frugalkitty · 22/08/2019 09:31

And well done to those who know already, some really fab results!

Michaelahpurple · 22/08/2019 09:37

DS's results body clock stirred him neatly at 9:10 - A*, eight 9s, two 8s. The latter were his two least favourite subjects - french and eng lit, and given that loathes lit and tackled both Shakespeare and novel as virtual unseens on passage questions, the 8 is a travesty, so beyond pleased for him.

Good luck to everyone else who is still. All-biting. I hope they all get what they need for their plans and expectations.

Michaelahpurple · 22/08/2019 09:37

Sorry "nail-biting"

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 09:38

10 grade 9s and 1 grade 8

Crikeyblimey · 22/08/2019 09:46

We are really chuffed.
1 x 9
7 x 8s
1 x 7
1 x 6
And a B in further maths.

Sounds like everyone so far has done really well so congrats to all.
Hopefully everyone will get what they need to do what they want next.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 22/08/2019 09:46

Ds's grade profile is spiky as we suspected but he has done more than enough for college (and got two 9s in subjects he doesn't want to do at A-level, go figure Grin)

Got a 4/3 in double science though, with the 3 being one mark off a 4, so have been advised to go for a remark.

So, on the whole, relieved and happy all round.

Well done all! Thank GOD it's over.
