Hello All,

Welcome to thread 6 - results...

Last thread here:

Gcses 2019 support thread 5 http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3610608-gcses-2019-support-thread-5

It's been a fantastically supportive set of threads to date with a diverse set of expectations and challenges (for both parents and children).

I expect this thread may be the most emotive for us all (crikey how did the time fly!!)

Good luck everyone Thanks

sososour we did exactly that after DD's GCSEs three years ago - still tucked away in there.

Didn’t pay for a remark just requested it last week it’s gone up so Do I get refund from Edexcel?

cantkeepawayforever · 03/09/2019 20:38

Roz, if you didn't pay, you don't get money back....

If you did pay for the remark, and the grade changes, you get your money back. If you pay and the mark stays the same, then they keep your money.

cantkeepawayforever · 03/09/2019 20:39

(Sorry, should say grade, not mark. If your mark changes but not enough to change the grade, you have to pay (if you paid in the first place) I think our school does it by paying themselves initially, then cashing our cheque if the grade doesn't change, tearing it up if the grade does change. The board then refunds the school what it paid.)

Dd at independent school and have been emailed to send a cheque but I only sent that yesterday must have gone ahead without me but wanted the money.

Not sure what happens now?

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2019 21:22

lynette, to all intents and purposes a review is a remark. It's semantics, really.

LynetteScavo · 03/09/2019 22:11

@Piggywaspushed Thank you, that makes it clearer.

School says they will start doing them in the next 5-7 days. I guess I'll just have to try to relax!

Wow @Arewedone A massive well done to your dd !

11 grade 9's must surely be the highest achievement possible in one sitting !

Dc skipped off to a shift at work straight after picking up results first thing on 22nd so didn't participate in any photo's for the local paper etc. Only told their close friends and some work colleagues although I think word has spread via social media chat and they now think their 10 x 9's and 2 x 8's are probably the top achievement locally.

I asked if the 6th form had especially wide doorways for big heads to fit through. A seriously expensive pair of shoes was bought as an extra reward though. Got to look your best for 6th form apparently.

Is there a starting 6th Form/ College 2019 thread ?

There was so much preening this morning, dc made us all late. I have said we have to set off earlier tomorrow.

OK - I "think" I have managed to start a new thread, not something I am terribly familiar with, but thought it was my turn :-)

Have linked with this thread on the new thread too, if that makes sense.......
