DD found physics AQA really hard today but sounds like she's in the minority.

She can't quite believe it's over and neither can I tbh.

She got a certificate today for being the most smiley in the year. Not seen much of that at home recently. Grin

doublechocadooberry · 14/06/2019 21:34

Well done masterbuffy. Physics went well according to DS. He is relieved exams are finally over and can have a lie-in without feeling guilty about not being up and revising.

Thanks for all the pointers to websites, past papers etc, it has been invaluable info. I have found the thread really supportive and recognises that not all our DC are high-flyers so a range of results will happen in Aug - I will be celebrating the lower grades as well as the high ones if it is enough to pass the boundary for sixth form/college. So, proud of them all.

lovely certificate to earn Missmarmite well done.

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 21:43

Dd found aqa physics really hard today but is just glad it's over. She's very quiet, just shattered i think and desperate for sometime on her own. She's turned off her phone and is colouring in listening to music. She's got German on Monday but I think mentally she's finished.

They got their timetables for their college trial day and she hasn't found anyone in any of her classes, so that's the next hurdle. Eek.
Bra shopping tomorrow. Didn't really consider when we got the dress that it's quite low cut! We bought a load of primark bras a few weeks ago and they all peek out over the top so we're off to m&s i think.

Well done for the awards etc. Nice to hear that some schools make the leaving pleasant - ours seem to have just worked them to the bone and kicked them out Sad

mcmen71 · 14/06/2019 21:49

gleegeek you might be better getting a bra sewed into dress

Rugbylife · 14/06/2019 21:52

Prom shoe update, 2 out of 3 new pairs of shoes I ordered last night have come and he’s tried them on with the suit and we have a replacement! Phew, now I can relax and will take up a complaint with John Lewis regarding a fault in the leather. I’m £65 down for replacement shoes but he’s happy so can’t complain. Prom next Friday so will post pictures. Good luck to those with exams next week, you’re almost there.

eggsandwich · 14/06/2019 22:01

I was rather surprised dd didn’t have a leavers assembly, they went to their physics exam and those that had no more exams were told to leave.

My dd had to stay for her film exam in the afternoon but she said it all feels a bit surreal that secondary school life is over, don’t think it will hit her till tomorrow.

Funny thing is she said to me earlier I feel like I should be doing something as its strange not having to revise any more.

Oh and she’s decided that she’s not going to the prom but a friend is having a party after the prom so may go along to that.

Arewedone · 14/06/2019 22:20

Rugbylife - what a relief ! JL are usually great at returns.
Gleegeek- Had similar bra situation -if you don’t have any joy at M&S we bought wonderbra ultima (or ultimate )from ASOS.
Eggs- nothing for us either, no assembly, goodbyes& no teachers around. My Dd is staying on but for those leaving was such a non event.

Rugbylife · 14/06/2019 22:39

Ds has to go back to school next Friday morning for Record of Achievement day, full uniform to be worn and shirt signing afterwards then prom that evening. Hoodies are given out then, I like the idea of letting them wear hoodies during exam season much more comfortable than blazers.

MollyButton · 14/06/2019 22:41

I think DD was happy with Physics. She was crying when she came out despite not having been happy there for the last year. She is most worried about Chemistry which is an A'level choice.
But has done really well to only not sit 1 paper out of all her exams.
And I now need to send old uniform in and try to get her yearbook. She might even have a Prom ticket, which she doesn't expect as her attendance has been so bad (and I have no idea if she will want to go if she has one).

Thanks for the support, and I hope our young people all have a great summer.

readyforsunshine · 15/06/2019 07:00

Pointy & glee my dd felt this physics paper didn’t go so well & it’s one of her stronger subjects. It seems most found it a good paper, not sure if it was down to a lack of last minute revision as she was really over it by Thursday or that she just preferred the more maths based first paper.
Marmite what a lovely prize!

marmiteloversunite · 15/06/2019 07:10

Thanks everyone. DD won "Good egg" in primary school, which we often gently tease her about, so my DH was laughing and hoping that she actually gets some GCSES too!

DD's teachers had made them a funny film for the leavers' assembly, which is really nice especially hearing a lot of your schools haven't done anything.

She also came home having made a decision that she does want to go to sixth form college rather than the local school, which I'm really pleased about as I think the greater mix of people and more going on will suit her better. Hopefully now she has something specific to focus on rather than not knowing what she's doing she'll be a bit happier.

Thanks for the company throughout, look forward to seeing how everyone's DCs did in August. First, holidays!

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/06/2019 09:08

Marmite how lovely. Congratulations to all the award winners.

DS2 had a short assembly after Physics (which he was happy with) then brought some mates back for an afternoon's gaming.

His school does a joint GCSE and A level Certificate Presentation Evening in December in the Cathedral. It means they get a chance to see everyone again, Sixth form social committee organises a party afterwards.

pointythings · 15/06/2019 09:32

Our school doesn't do awards until October as part of the school wide awards evening. No idea if DD2 will get any, but she's certainly in the running for English, MFL and possibly French too. They only ever get one for GCSE though.

A level award winners either get collected by younger siblings or sent in the post - DD1 might be up for English Lit.

DD2 is aching a lot today, but then she did go on the bouncy castle a lot, which is not great for her joint.

Iambuffy · 15/06/2019 09:34

Awards evening in October here too.

Feel a bit wiped out after yesterday

Dd went to a party last night and apparently loads of them were vomming by 10pm. Envy not envy

gleegeek · 15/06/2019 10:02

No don't say that! First party tonightShock

Fibbke · 15/06/2019 10:05

So many of them smoke!!! Dd has asthma which was pretty triggered. The party host had provided Smirnoff ice and beer but apparently someone smuggled bottles of whisky in Shock

Arewedone · 15/06/2019 10:29

Collected Dd and BF at midnight, could tell she had had a drink due to non stop chatter to in the car home but she’s up and at the gym this morning. BF was at a the one too many drunk stage but thankfully a funny drunk. Not sure his parents were too pleased!
No vomiting at the party but were a couple of drunk criers. Vodka, Smirnoff ice and beer. Amazes me they can buy it!

Arewedone · 15/06/2019 10:30

Fibbke- yes smoking and juuls 😳

SilentSister · 15/06/2019 10:58

I can't decide whether I am relieved or slightly sad for DD that she has never been to a party.......

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/06/2019 11:17

Ds and his mates wandered back from their party before 11pm - said they were bored!
