Just wanted to pop in and say what an amazing set of results, well done ALL mini MNerers (although I guess most not at all mini in the real world).

And TerfTerf2 - I'm so sad to hear your DS is disappointed in his results. 3 B's and the rest A or above sounds like a fantastic set of results to me. It is a shame that they didn't keep with letters and just to an A** because surely that would have sounded better.

For those that have failed subjects they planned to do for A-level - a friend of mine's DD had always thought she would do sciences, but did much better in her English/Humanities at GCSE. She swapped subjects for A-level and was so very happy that she did. So I hope that all of the choice switches turn out for the best.

Peaseblossom22 · 23/08/2018 11:46

Congratulations to everyone on here , it’s been a horrid stressy year and they can all be proud .

HesMyLobster · 23/08/2018 11:48

Finally home!
DD got A* psychology, 9 in Drama, 8 in French and 7s in everything else!
Over the moon and so proud of her!
(She was convinced she'd get nothing higher than a 6!) Grin
Huge well done to everyone! It sounds as if everyone is happy, and even those that aren't completely are only teeny blips which shouldn't affect what they want to do next.

And breathe!

Taking DD and her BF for a posh lunch they they're going to a party later. And I shall be cracking open the fizz!!

hmmwhatatodo · 23/08/2018 11:49

Well done to all students for getting through their exams, whatever the result. Can anyone explain to me at what point a grade 5 becomes more like an old B grade than a C if that makes sense? Specifically referring to Edexcel maths at foundation level if it makes a difference. Thank you.

sandybayley · 23/08/2018 11:50

So good to hear from everyone - particularly the gang who have been here from the start. Over 12 months of char and here we all are over the other side. Have we heard from @mmmz yet?

Congrats to @Oratory1 and hug for @TerfTerf2. Terf those are good results and you should be proud but it's tough if it's not quite what the DC were expecting.

sandybayley · 23/08/2018 11:51

Pleased to hear from @HesMyLobster and @KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse

goodbyestranger · 23/08/2018 11:52

Ah thank you Cherryburn :)

Yes, this thread is full of extraordinary results.

Sostenueto · 23/08/2018 11:54

9 geography

888 sciences

7 English language
5 art.
So so happy for everyone! What awesome dcs!Star

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 23/08/2018 11:58

Thanks Sandy.

I've just read back over the past hour that I've missed.

A massive Flowers WELL DONE to the Sost family. I know my dd and your dgd have had similar strengths and weaknesses so while I'm glad to see she got the 9 in geography, I'm DELIGHTED to see she did so well in English Language!

And massive well done to all the dc with amazingly stellar results here - whether that is straight 9s or not. They are all getting where they want to go. Flowers

KingscoteStaff · 23/08/2018 12:04

I am counting the old guard back in!

Great results Juggling, Oneteen, sandybayley, hmc, goodbyestranger, Kick, Oratory and Lobster.

Terf - those results are his ticket to A levels, aren't they?

TabbyTigger · 23/08/2018 12:04

I’ve been lurking here because DDs have been doing a few early language GCSEs/A levels (we speak 4 languages at home and are fluent in a fifth!) and just want to say congratulations to everyone on here! From the past five or six pages it looks like most people are happy, and even those who aren’t totally satisfied seem to have done amazingly so the angst will pale to insignificance in the coming months I’m sure.

Just wanted to have a little blast because I’m so proud of them for applying and motivating themselves at such a young age and self teaching the syllabus -
DD1 is 14 (going into Y10) and got 2 GCSE As (both in less common languages so they’re not yet reformed!) plus an A at A level last week which is tremendous! On top of last year’s A* GCSE she’s racking up quite a selection so I’m very proud.
DD2 has just turned 13 (going into year 9) and got 2As in the same GCSEs, plus an A in the AS level she sat. She’s now considering trying to balance the A2 with everything else going on next year like DD1 did, and like DD1 she already has a previous A. Can’t believe I’ve got so many years of exam seasons ahead...

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 12:09

sost so very thrilled for you and DGD! Prime example of hard work and determination #BeMoreSost Grin

We're really ok here, DS more than comfortably into chosen sixth form, he knows how bloody hard he has to work from now on if he wants the stuff he wants!!

Oratory1 · 23/08/2018 12:11

Hope all ok mmmz

Oneteen · 23/08/2018 12:13

Same ^

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/08/2018 12:20

Mixed bag for DS3

9 Maths,
8 Chem,
7 physics, biology, history (!)
6 computing
B Chinese
5 both English, music.

History was a pleasant surprise, computing really disappointing, English a little disappointing. Really happy with maths! Grin

KittiesInsane · 23/08/2018 12:21

He'll be fine in the long run, TerfTerf - it's no bad thing for an obviously very clever boy to learn he's not infallible.

DD came out grinning and saying '7 in maths! What happened? Also 7 in English language -- what happened?'

She's delighted with one of those and a bit gutted about the other - but mostly delighted.

AlexanderHamilton · 23/08/2018 12:21

Huge congrats to all

Term - I think your Ds is being hard on himself but hopefully he can re-adjust & be proud of what he has got.

One of Dds teachers wants her to give up dance & apply to Oxford. Apparently she only dropped 5 marks in total in RS (& 2/3 of those would be the question she ran out of time on)

Equal cause for celebration is her friend who got 5 in English in order to progress onto his drama/dance course & another friend who thought they would fail English & ended up with a 6 though sheer effort.

Best wishes to all for the next stage.

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 12:30

Alexander what a fantastic position for your DD to find herself in! And how lovely of her teacher to say that Smile

Our friend at the same school has absolutely stormed her exams - all 8s and 9s - and this is a child who has a severe physical disability, who will need a nine hour op in the autum, who needs at least 13-14hrs sleep every day to be able to function, does a Saturday shop job and 2 years ago was looking at maybe achieving some L2 BTECs. She's an inspiration to us and DS feels somewhat humbled (she has been his direct competition in most classes this year)

Stickerrocks · 23/08/2018 12:37

Am I bringing up the rear? 4x grade 9, 3 x grade 8, 2x grade 7, 1 x grade 6 & we won't mention add maths.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/08/2018 12:40

Right, caught up on thread now. So many 9s! Shock What a great set of results from you all.

TerfTerf they are actually a great set of results and won't stop him excelling at sixth form. Chin up terfterf mini.

Pleased at Sost's DGD's 9 in geog and AlwaysHiding's DD and, well, everyone!

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 12:46

sticker congrats! Fab results 🍾

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 12:47

Ummmmm we're gonna need a bigger boat thread!

redfairy · 23/08/2018 12:48

We are very happy with DD's results 8 in Eng Lit, 7, 7, 7, 6,6,6,5,5,4 in chemistry and a 3 for PE but we don't talk about that. Onwards to A levels at local 6th form college

Oneteen · 23/08/2018 12:49

Well done stickerrocks DD.

It is so nice to see the 9's I was quite worried that some DC's would feel disappointed but it looks like the predictions were accurate - well done to the teachers/schools....for getting DC's through a stressful GCSE exam period.

Stickerrocks · 23/08/2018 12:50

Can I just add tgat I am absolutely delighted for DDs best friend who has got a series of 4s and 5s and has a genuine choice of what she can do next. So proud of her.
