D is distinction for oral.

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 11:08

Oh dear SadDS in bits
9 French
3x8 eng Lang, geog, maths
3x7 chem, biol, hist
2x6 phys, eng lit
B in FMaths

Gutted by eng lit (I am surprised too) and History (predicted a 9) It's completely shaken him and he is furious with himself for not working harder. What can I say?

beenrumbled · 23/08/2018 11:09

Just back!

Well done everyone!

DS is so pleased - he got 8s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and History - his history is fantastic as in mocks he was scoring 6's but was targeted for a 7. His history teacher has put in for a remark as he was 2 marks off a 9. He got 7s in English Language, Lit, Biology and French - French is the one there was some debate over whether he would sit the higher or foundation paper, so again he did really well!

Business Studies and Statistics were A's

goodbyestranger · 23/08/2018 11:10

Cheers sandy!

hmcAsWas · 23/08/2018 11:10

Is he doing Eng Lit or History for his A levels?

beenrumbled · 23/08/2018 11:10

Oh no Terf, poor DS - does it affect his Alevel choices?

Do you know his marks to see where he was on the boundaries?

hmcAsWas · 23/08/2018 11:11

That was to TerfTerf

goodbyestranger · 23/08/2018 11:14

Very sorry he's disappointed TerfTerf.

Oratory1 · 23/08/2018 11:15

wow very well done - only 700+ or something with eight 9's or more and a large proportion of them seem to be on this thread. Sorry can't name everyone but huge well done hugs for those we have been through this together with and those with extra trials- Sost great 9 and geog, AH great results all round, oneteen that's more than enough for medicine ! etc etc, The third and goodbye brilliant !!

Well DS surpassed all expectations - crazily so given his SATS and Mocks. 9 for maths, A* further maths and 8 for computing and physics so that's A levels sorted and can go forward with confidence. Other were all better than expected too. Phew, breath. Actually we couldn't stop laughing they were so ridiculous. We knew he was intelligent but this is the first time he has been able to get it down on paper. Commiserations for any blips - but hope everyone has made it in to the school of their choice.

hmcAsWas · 23/08/2018 11:18

Delighted for him Oratory1 Smile

Cherryburn · 23/08/2018 11:18

Excellent news Goodbye, well done her.

Ah TerfTerf, those are still great results but not much consolation to your DS if he wanted/expected better. Do they affect his A Level choices? It won’t be any help now, but if he didn’t work as hard as he could/should have, it will be a valuable lesson learnt for A Level. And once he’s on to those, the GCSEs mean nothing. Hope he cheers up.

Oratory1 · 23/08/2018 11:19

Ooh sorry terfterf, hope you can move forward, it is difficult when expectations not met however brilliant the results themselves.

DS School 40% 9-7 so he's done exceptionally well.

CatherineCawood · 23/08/2018 11:20

DD got 9,9,8,8,8,8,8,7,7,5 really chuffed for her she tried so hard, has ADHD and takes ritalin.

Oratory1 · 23/08/2018 11:20

thanks hmc you too !!

Oneteen · 23/08/2018 11:22

So sorry Terfterf but I have found that with DD (with her mocks), that a little blip will help them in the long run but no consolation now.

So many amazing results well done incredible DC's.

Not sure what to do with two of DD's exams - DT she is one mark of an A (159 - 160)...coursework moderated down but I cant see how a review would help given written exam score was high 74/80.

Also one mark off an A in French (a B is a result given she got an E in her first mocks so I'm more than happy with the result).

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 23/08/2018 11:22

We're home.

Massive smiles all round. Grin

Maths 9
CS 8
Geography 8
Chemistry 7
Biology 7
Physics 6
German 6
RS 6 (how Confused)
Eng lit 6

... And last but definitely not least English language 5 (3 marks off a 6 and being remarked) CakeGinStarHalo

I'm quite glad her English teacher wasn't there because I think I would have hugged her and cried on her!

Cherryburn · 23/08/2018 11:23

Oratory so so pleased to hear that. I’m delighted (and impressed) by all the results on this thread, but there is a special place in my heart for dyslexic boys with very academic big sisters! Really well done him.

Oneteen · 23/08/2018 11:24

Oratory I am so so pleased for your DS - well done Star

snozzlemaid · 23/08/2018 11:24

Dd got:

Biology 9
Chemistry 9
Physics 9
Maths 8
Eng Lit 8
Eng Lang 7
French 7
Photography 7
Further Maths A

A distinction* for Business.
And distinction for ICT and also Health & Fitness

She's doing sciences and Maths at college so excellent results for that.

Cherryburn · 23/08/2018 11:25

That’s brilliant kick. I can imagine there are quite a few English teachers being cried on for one reason or another today!

Oratory1 · 23/08/2018 11:28

that's lovely Cherryburn, thankyou !

TerfTerf2 · 23/08/2018 11:35

Thanks for your support Smile no it doesn't affect A levels at all. It's only his pride that's dented! And yes I agree it's better to have these blips now than in two years! Maybe he'll work a bit harder...

So many congrats to all your DC, there's some astounding results there!
We are all ⭐️⭐️⭐️, never mind our children

dogzdinner · 23/08/2018 11:41

Blimey there are some amazing results here! I didn't realise there would be so many 9s. Congratulations to everyone!

My DS's results are rather more 'normal' - 7, 6, 6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4 and a B

He's got into 6th form which is great.

dogzdinner · 23/08/2018 11:42

Do AQA no longer give out the marks? DS's results sheet only has marks for Edexcel exams.

Peaseblossom22 · 23/08/2018 11:45

Promised I would not broadcast ds results but suffice to say that they are in the 732 ( if that statistic is correct which I find hard to believe) so proud he worked so hard and had the vile stomach bug for three days in the middle . So on to A levels and the next mountain to climb.
