Brainmelt I am not at all surprised - he must be over the moon!!Cake
DS is now thinking of doing English at A level. But we've suggested he might want to check out the book list first...

BITCAT · 23/08/2018 10:16

Dd1 got C in English and a D in Maths..i thrilled with everything she has been through the last 2 years im more than pleased and its enough to get her on her access courses. So next week enrolment onto her course. Work placement already sorted.

Apologies if missed anyone - still a few long time posters to be roll called!

We are back to school at 12pm for a chat - the maths was a 4 and appears to be 1 point below the grade 5 - 78 is the mark equivalent on her sheet - is this used to compare against the grade boundary or is not that simple? Edexcel exam board. Her psychology grade B was with 157 as a mark equivalent - but probably 3 marks off a grade A, so another one for remarking.

Worn out with it all!!

Sostenueto · 23/08/2018 10:21

Omg! What relief!
Yes a 9 in geography! And a surprise 9 in......English literature! You had to pick all of us off the floor for that result!!!! What on earth! And a 7 in English language! Spent most of morning on floor speechless about results! Only blemish on a record of results containing 7-9 was art a 5! But what the heck!
So so pleased with everyone's results and glad all is well. ( haven't read all posts so forgive me) congrats to everybody! CakeWine

callitwhatyouwill · 23/08/2018 10:23

Superb results and well done to dc’s and parents.

DD2 got eight level 9’s and 2 A*. One level 8 that was one mark off a level 9 so we’ve been advised to go for a review. Huge relief and proudSmile

KingscoteStaff · 23/08/2018 10:24

cub Superb!
Jufus New school - result!
Cblue - a triumph!

Sostenueto · 23/08/2018 10:25

Only disappointment for dgd was maths a 7 but now seeing math teacher to see if a remark is worth it.

DevaDiva · 23/08/2018 10:26

Still don't know what daughters going to do for alevels, History is a definite and she got an 8 in all the subjects she's considering. A nice problem to have I suppose.

Her friends have just come back to pick up their bags and are heading back to school to pick her up and go for some food. I didn't ask for details but one was very happy the other not Sad Head of Science is talking to DD about her options and probably trying to talk her into staying there instead of the 6th form college!

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/08/2018 10:27

So happy dd passed them all. Her grades range from a 4 in French to an 8 in English lit. She was so ill that first week it's a huge relief.
Well done all.

Twinplusone · 23/08/2018 10:27

DD disappointed with a 7 for maths, she was hoping for a 8. (7 is an A on old money, i’m over the moon with that) She got a 3 for geography which was a shock result and will now have to rethink her a level choices as not high enough grade. She has hidden herself in her room, she has been crying and hasn’t wanted anyone in. I can’t remember all the other results, but she passed English which was her biggest concern.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 23/08/2018 10:28

Ds woke me up smiling Grin 1x8, 1x7, 1x6 (in a subject he got a 3 in on a practise paper 3 weeks before the exam!) 2xA and 1xB. Sooo proud of him. He studied for all six pretty much independently and crammed two years of study into one. He has absolutely earned every one!
Well done to all the dc on this thread. x

AChickenCalledKorma · 23/08/2018 10:29

My wildest dreams have been knocked out of the park. She got 10 x 9s and an A in Add Maths. After weeks of careful expectation management my mind has been blown and I'm prouder than an extremely proud thing.

ReservoirDogs · 23/08/2018 10:29

Holiday Shopping 9 is kind of A* and 8 is A 7 is A 6 is B+ and 5 is B-/C+ and 4 C-

TheThirdOfHerName · 23/08/2018 10:31

AChickenCalledKorma Wow!

JugglingMummyof2 · 23/08/2018 10:31

Well done to everyones DC
Oh the sheer relief here:
3 9's
5 8's
2 6's
Cannot believe it but she swears she didn't know she had done that well.
So she is registered for her sixth form. I am so proud of her as she has managed it without any tutoring whatsoever and I did worry that we had disadvantaged her as it seems like everyone else was getting help in her and the surrounding schools. And breathe...

LooseAtTheSeams · 23/08/2018 10:33

Sostenueto wow! I TOLD you English would be OK but that is an amazing result. And phew! Plus congratulations for the much-wanted geography result! Star
Too many amazing results to keep up with!! Korma the A in Add Maths is something special!

Oneteen · 23/08/2018 10:34

Super proud mum here too...DD not only passed History but got an A!

1x 8 3x A*,4A'/7s and 2 B's (French and a blip with DT where course work moderated down).

She gets to do all three sciences for A level too A* in Biology and Physics and an A in Chemistry.

TheThirdOfHerName · 23/08/2018 10:34

At DS2's school, 60% of the grades were 7-9, which is good for a state school where more than half of the intake is non-selective.

Cherryburn · 23/08/2018 10:36

Sost yesssssssss!!! Fantastic news. And that English Lit!!!

Korma Shock that is amazing!

southnownorth · 23/08/2018 10:37

Heard from dd now. She got a 4 in Maths which I am absolutely over the moon with. It’s her poorest subject and one arsehole teacher said to her in year 8 that she would never pass. The rest were 6s and 7s and a 4 for art.

They are low by mumsnet standards but I think she has done so well. She can now go to the college she wanted to.

elena7475 · 23/08/2018 10:38

Congrats to DCs.
DS got 9x2. 8x5. 7x3. 6x2. 5x1.
So pleased. He was predicted 8x5 only.

Cherryburn · 23/08/2018 10:38

Oneteen fantastic! So pleased for you.

Twistofanxiety · 23/08/2018 10:39

Yay DS got the grades he needs to enrol into college (we're doing that now) and passed English and Maths so does not need to retake. Very proud of my boy.
