Loose can I ask abut the Farmers Bride? So she runs away on the wedding day. Is found scared, hiding by the church. Why is she scared? Nothing has happened yet (with the farmer). So what happened before the farmer to make her scared?
Then fast forward to the end. She was brought back that night. Nothing more is said of what happened that night, or the next week, next month etc. However, at some point she has barricaded herself into the attic.
He's perplexed. Turns his brain to it, but clearly doesn't do deep thinking or much empathy. He mainly thinks about how he fancies her, and sort of regrets not trying to make an emotional connection with her as it might have avoided all the trouble. But he's also a bit tired of trying to figure it out, and so it ends with him considering knocking the attic door down to get at her.
Would that be the first time? Is that why she locked herself in there in the first place??
Please tell me that I'm reading too much into it and that's not really what the poem is hinting at?
