I'm here!

My DS had Biology practical Tuesday ok and Physics practical today - not food apparently.

Fortunately got great grades on English Coursework 98 and 94% and 100% on HPQ so we will have to keep reminding him of those!

Allthebestnames those marks are exceptional so hopefully he'll feel encouraged by that.

DS2's leaver's hoody arrived today. He's hoping to get into the sixth form at the same school, so might end up with a matching one in two years.

Second I looked into that Bath Uni ASD taster event a few years ago, but DS2 isn't really up to going to university. He'll be staying at the local college to do an HNC next year. It looks like a brilliant few days. It would also give me some confidence that Bath is properly inclusive as well as being a great Uni for maths/sciences etc. It's a bit close to home for us, 50 miles away but it's very near all my extended family, so DS1 ruled it out. Not that he's autistic, just geeky!

DD has been sent her NCS placement today. This time last week she definitely didn't want the location she has been given, today it's the best one ever. I'm breathing a sigh of relief as it's about 5 miles from my original home, so all her family are on hand in case of emergency.

Waiting for Macbeth (again). DD thinks it's overkill. I think it's a good way to combi e revision and dinner out.

@Allthebestnames - Brilliant coursework results ..I don't think DD has been given her coursework marks for English ...must check.. I don't think DD is doing practicals either.

Second/Ellen - Envious of your DC's doing summer school - I keep on getting emails from DD's school but the costs are so prohibitive - generally, £2500+ DD is ruled out on any other courses (rightly so) because she is at an Indie. I may look again for summer hols next year. We live close to Cambridge so if she takes to Biology there should be lots of opportunities.

Stickerrocks - That's great that the NCS placement is near to your old home...DD is in the same situation and will be at a centre 15 minutes away from my sister/brother (where I used to live)...

Feeling more chilled about Computer Science - DD spent all day on a revision website I found (£2 subscription for the month). It goes through the whole syllabus and provides flashcards and quizzes. DD had a text from school friend - stating that she had just realised that CS Teacher had not covered 90% of the topics in paper 2 (DD is actually OK on paper 2 its paper 1 she thinks he hasn't covered in enough detail). Definitely, teacher fail..

Gosh, £2000! DS's was 4 years ago and cost me about £50, plus transport to Cambridge, obviously subsidised by the Ogden Trust, but I hadn't realised...

The Debate Chamber summer school is non-residential, so thankfully closer to £400 than £2000.

DS2 will travel there by tube. He doesn't use the tube regularly, so I'll accompany him there on the first morning to help familiarise him with the journey.

My reluctant reviser has agreed to 10 minutes for 1/2 hr computer time. Shouting a bit about it but 10 minutes is 10 minutes.

I got 2days WE placement (medical) arranged for high-achiever DD in summer (preen). Hope to organise another placement after she turns 17 in the autumn (can't go into operating theatre until 17).

DD has shirt signing at lunchtime tomorrow then can leave!!! Letter home about a end of year book and revision sessions between exams.

Was open evening at dd’s school last night but Year 11 only had to stay til 6pm so I watchec her dance class for an hour then brought her home.

She’s come home tonight with a goody bag from her RS teacher with stationery items to remind them of RS stuff (a gold coloured ruler?) & various items meant to bring luck such as a nail (cause they are going to nail their exams!). Bonkers, but sweet.

I’m going to miss her whilst she’s away during the exam period. She will come home at weekends after Saturday class.

For those looking for science/tech summer courses I’ve been recommended smallpiece trust (some are free !!!). I haven’t looked properly yet but will look this weekend

Has anyone checked out the World Cup schedule?

DS1 has just announced he WILL be watching the England game on 18 June at 7pm. It's the night before his last exam so I'm OK with it. What a pain it would be if the games started earlier! Next one is on 24th - is everyone finished by then?

Well DVD will never have to do art again! She is chuffed at that idea! Exam went bad because art teacher kept on telling her to do her piece big during the exam. She had planned to do on a2 but art teacher said do on a1 paper. Well all prep work had been done for smaller size so effectively piece ruined as no time to redraw and trace so pieces had to be added etc in other words a disaster. If my dgd gets a fail I will be writing to head of school and have just sent email to art teacher to ask what exactly occured during exam I am fuming!

Thank you for suggesting the smallpeice trust. I had been under the impression that they only offered engineering courses, but I've just looked and there are Physics courses too.

I’m here too. Poor DD getting worse and is back to the GP tomorrow.

She has tried to study for Computer Science today, which is not her friend. She’s really struggling. @Teenmum - please can you let me know the subscription site you found?

Admin staff absences are causing chaos at the school, with Leavers hoodies being the latest thing to be forgotten about. Not hugely important in the scheme of things, but it’s momentous to the students.

I’m trying to hold it together, but it’s proving more difficult as each day passes. Counting down the days, as many of us are!

One of those Downfall adaptations for those who sat Wednesday's CIE English...
