Hi Does anyone know how many sat the 10+ exam this year for Kingston Grammar and when you can expect to be called back for an interview? Thank you

Very nervous too! DC was very chirpy after the interview, but so were plenty of other DCs...

Sunshine6363 · 08/02/2018 14:17

Yes it’s quite nerve wracking! I’m not sure how they decide from the interviews. I thought all the children attending looked pretty impressive!
I haven’t received any post yet, but we don’t always get post daily. I guess we’ll hear tomorrow though, if they’re posting them out today. Good luck to everyone x

Sunshine6363 · 09/02/2018 12:25

I hope you all had good news today. We got a letter today informing us our DS got a deferred 10+ place. We’re very relieved! Fingers crossed for all of you too.

testbunny · 09/02/2018 13:54

DC got a place, Thrilled! I was like a zombie this morning waiting for the postman - I literally couldn't do anything. I hope everyone else has good news too.

itschilly · 09/02/2018 14:29

We got a place too! Now faced with decisions we didn't think we'd have to make!
Testbunny- I'm a bit confused about the whole over acceptance scenario!

Sunshine6363 · 09/02/2018 14:49

Well done to you both!
itschilly- did you get offers from anywhere else?
We only applied for KGS at the last minute, as we had done no preparation, but wish now I’d tried a few more schools, to see how my DC would have got on. We are definitely paying to accept the place though!

itschilly · 09/02/2018 14:54

We have a couple of other offers and a couple of Waitlists. Well done on the 10+- it's very hard to get in on that! We did it last year! Not many others you could have done with deferred places. We did it just for practice as I knew I wanted DC to stay for Y6 at their primary.

testbunny · 09/02/2018 16:13

itschilly what do you mean about the "over acceptance" scenario?? DC got KGS too. Loved both schools... arghh, but lovely position to be in (smile)

testbunny · 09/02/2018 16:15

oops. I thought I was on the Emanuel thread.. doh. Got Emanuel and a girls school, but want co-ed

Roseredvelvet · 09/02/2018 17:16

Hi ladies, well done on your dcs! I have been lurking here for a couple of days. Dd was offered a place today and I'm also a little confused by the "over acceptance" scenario. Are they implying that we need to accept offers soon or we'll be waitlisted? The group tour isn't until March!

Sunshine5050 · 09/02/2018 17:38

Hi, I've got the 11plus offer letter in front of me, if you definitely want the place you need to get on and accept, they may fill all places before 5th March but they won't let you know until after 5th March if you were too late accepting. They are targeting the Tiffin parents to get a move on and decide rather than waiting for Tiffin results on 1st March. Some Tiffin parents will pay up now to secure the place and then wait for Tiffin results. We've got a Hampton offer and will decide after visiting Hampton after half term and not wait for KGS 1st March tour.

itschilly · 09/02/2018 17:44

I spoke to the Registrar...she said an email will go out if it looks like they are close to full acceptances and also that you would hear once you'd accepted so not ness after March 5th (unless you put in on that date I suppose). That may not make sense- sorry it's been a long day!
So no need to panic yet basically!
She sort of said it probably wouldn't be an issue but they have said it just in case...

Sunshine5050 · 09/02/2018 17:55

Thanks, we won't wait for the tour date but good to know it's not an immediate answer.

derivaz · 09/02/2018 18:35

😉😉💃💃😁

testbunny · 09/02/2018 20:45

We are accepting straight away. DH says no point faffing about!

Roseredvelvet · 09/02/2018 21:24

Thanks, they had shut when I tried calling. Dd is unsure whether she wants coed or girls only. Insisting on revisiting 3 again. There was I thinking the nightmare was over!

itschilly · 09/02/2018 22:13

Rosered- we are looking at 3 again as well! What are your options?!

Roseredvelvet · 09/02/2018 22:20

itschilly, NHEHS, SHS & waitlisted for PHS. Dd's favs SHS & KGS, both are easiest commute. You?

itschilly · 09/02/2018 22:26

SHS, Emanuel and KGS- waitlist for PHS and WHS but DD not keen on either so concentrating on the ones we have offers for! Emanuel probably closest, KGS my favourite and SHS DD's! This could drag on...

nononsencemum · 09/02/2018 22:48

We got an offer too! I am thrilled!! My husband opened the envelope (I was not brave enough to do it) and shouted to my son 'I have a Golden Ticket for you!' haha It most definitely feels like one! it is such a relief - the whole process definitely felt rather torturous ;-). We too have both KGS and Hampton School offers and will most probably decide after Hampton Afternoon day. Congratulations to all lucky ones who got in! Smile.

Roseredvelvet · 09/02/2018 23:32

itschilly we also sat for WHS but she wasn't keen at all! It's too far from us anyway. Dd loves SHS but I'd rather coed too. How funny, are girls seem very similar!

nocampinghere · 10/02/2018 09:34

This year's yr7 intake is completely full, 25 or 26 per class when usually it is more like 23. They didn't go to waitlist at all.
So they've probably explicitly put in the "over acceptance" scenario to cover them legally incase they go over their numbers allowing them to turn any unaccepted offers into waitlist offers - they can't physically put on an extra class.
City did this last year to much outrage. "exploding offers" i think was the term on here...

testbunny · 10/02/2018 10:43

I can sort of understand it; gets people moving which helps everyone! I have a friend who has DC without any offers and 2 WLs - she is desperate for people with offers to make up their minds.

itschilly · 10/02/2018 11:17

Yup - have a friend in the same situation and others with over 8 offers! Most people at DC's state primary have at least 3 offers if they're going private. There are a LOT of offers swilling around!

nocampinghere · 10/02/2018 11:39

yes and a lot of people don't bother declining offers, they just let the offer deadline pass which is rude imo - and not at all thoughtful to those on waitlists. We all know the process is hideous and tough, a bit of consideration goes a long way.
I can understand people wanting to wait for the state offers to come out, but holding onto more than 1 private school offer isn't fair. imo anyway!
