I thought I'd feel great that it's all done, but I think I feel a bit worse now! DD came out of both tests feeling happy and that she'd done really well on one and pretty well on the other but you can't tell can you? I just worry that if she's not passed she will feel like a failure when she's never felt like that before. She also really loves the grammar school and will be so disappointed if she doesn't get in.

I don't know yet... No one's really said anything. Facebook strangely quiet Grin

She's really proud of her score though which is good. So she's happy.

Im sure it will all eventually work out just going to have to hang in there I guess and do what I can to get her somewhere good.

MedusaBadHairDay · 13/10/2017 18:06

Believe fingers crossed for you tomorrow....I hope your post comes early. Ours is usually later on in the day.

trinitybleu · 13/10/2017 20:29

@Slippersandacuppa that's the one. Looks like some people got the MFL results today (but not all) by post so fingers crossed the 11+ letter gets here tomorrow.

bellabelly · 13/10/2017 20:33

Sorry to hear that Giles but really glad your dd is proud of her score, they should all be so bloody proud of themselves. Good luck to all those waiting for results tomorrow - may your posties come early!

plus3 · 13/10/2017 20:55

Giles - we were in your position last yr. In Bucks, not happy with our local school failing to come out of special measures...didn't pass with 121 but high enough to appeal successfully. Our 2nd choice was out of catchment (next county but actually very close) which required waiting lists......so stressful. Do look at appealing. Good luck

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/10/2017 20:57

I don't think it's worth appealing

Waiting lists here we come

Sorry to read your update Giles. Good luck with the waiting list.

MedusaBadHairDay · 14/10/2017 13:48

We got our letter and she's passed, in and happy.

bellabelly · 14/10/2017 15:39

Yay, Medusa! Fab news, well done to your dd. Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/10/2017 15:51

Oh brilliant thats such good news!! Smile

MedusaBadHairDay · 14/10/2017 15:54

I’m relieved to not have to deal with the fallout from her not passing tbh, she’s been very determined to go where her big brother goes.

bellabelly · 14/10/2017 15:59

Does she need to achieve a particular score or is it just if you pass, you're in?

MedusaBadHairDay · 14/10/2017 16:04

If you pass and live in the catchment you’re in - only about 10-15% percent are out of area generally. Some out of area pass but are on the waiting list. There have been no successful appeals for over ten years.

bellabelly · 14/10/2017 16:33

So you are pretty certain she'll get her place then? That is brilliant! (Our grammar has a catchment but then admits by score within the catchment area so we won't be certain until March 1 - boo!

believebelievebelieve · 14/10/2017 17:36

Brilliant Medusa, Dd also passed and will get a place (allocations are on distance from the school and our village always get in). Such an enormous relief as she wanted to join her big bro too although it's not the same school but his is the boys' grammar, hers the girlsSmile

bellabelly · 14/10/2017 18:01

Fab news, believe, well done your dd!

MedusaBadHairDay · 14/10/2017 19:14

Brilliant Believe so pleased for you. Yes Belly she’ll get in100% certain so long as we put it 1st on our form. I’m just glad it’s all done and dusted for us now.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/10/2017 19:20

Yay Smile

WillowFae · 14/10/2017 23:45

Bucks here and we had good news for DD. DS was also pleased that she passed but got a lower score than him - got to love sibling rivalry!

bellabelly · 15/10/2017 00:13

Haha, Willow, sibling rivalry is the PITS! I have 4 dc but am an only child myself - it's been a real eye opener... Well done to your dd!

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/10/2017 09:17

Oh more good news. Fab. Well done to willow kids!!

Bunnyjo · 15/10/2017 20:49

I may lurk here whilst I bite my nails to the wick. DD sat our local grammar school entrance test 7th October and we should receive the results in the coming week.

There is only one grammar school in our county and there is no ‘pass’ mark; we will receive her standardised score and a generic information sheet as to previous years’ qualifying score ranges.

She appears to be quite stoic about it all, which is testament to her character. However, I’m nervous for the both of us!

Congratulations to everyone so far and I’m sorry to hear your DD didn’t quite get the pass mark, Giles. She sounds like a wonderful young girl and I truly hope you have a happy outcome on 1st March.

MedusaBadHairDay · 15/10/2017 21:38

I feel your pain Bunnyjo it’s the waiting that’s the hardest part. I hope you get your news soon

Bunnyjo · 16/10/2017 16:18

Thank you.

The results are usually received 1 week after the test. However, the cynic in me thinks they’ll send them out this coming Friday as it’s half-term here next week - it would be one way to prevent the receptionists from having to field phone calls from many parents!
