Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

Good luck with the remark, Teta.

These poor kids in limbo. With DD's medical issues it would literally have been life threatening. I can't imagine how you must all be feeling.

DD eventually got through on the phone. They told her they would make a decision and email her by the end of the day. One hour to go.

I'm thinking of going to get some ice cream. We should definitely be celebrating something Grin

LineysRun · 17/08/2017 16:26

Yeah, the limbo thing's rubbish. Everyone's exhausted.

DS confirmed Reading but now they have to confirm him back ...

Etaina · 17/08/2017 16:36

Dd just phoned her insurance as she still hasn't heard anything. They said she probably won't find out until tomorrow morning now. It seems that they have a lot of students in the same position.

We've spent the whole day attached to a phone (and driving out of town for a signal because we had a major power cut!) and now we've got the same stress tomorrow morning.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/08/2017 16:51

We've just been out to get some cake - DH had already got some prosecco and DD's essential education this morning was how to open bubbly without mess or injury.

Mellifera · 17/08/2017 16:53

DD has missed out on her first choice and insurance, her grades were so much lower than predicted, we were quite shocked 😨

She's adament she doesn't want to do A Levels again, the school had offered it. She wanted to start working somewhere and then apply again next year. I think that's a mad idea. If she does want to do the course she needs to either redo Alevels or find a uni that takes her.

She has now got an offer from Aberystwyth, which she wants to take, but it's been a tough day saying goodbye to all the red bricks (Predictions were AAB).
Clearing was a rollercoaster. What a crazy system.
I feel quite sick.

LineysRun · 17/08/2017 17:01

Etaina, that is incredibly stressful for her - it's such a crazy system.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 17:08

Mellifera & Etaina Flowers for you both - what a horrible day you've had. I had similar two years ago with DS1 and it still haunts me now Sad I am sure the system is due a complete overhaul, I wish the students could apply with their grades in hand , it would much less stressful.

I do hope you both get sorted tomorrow. XX

JugglingFromHereToThere · 17/08/2017 18:19

We're lucky and all sorted here now but it's been quite a stressy day of admin because DD decided she just preferred her insurance over her firm, especially after visiting Swansea this week, and the system isn't very well set up for such a change of heart.
Never mind, I know we're fortunate to have had choices especially as DD narrowly missed both her offers with her results, but it's worked out OK 😊
Off to Swansea!

@aginghippy We should definitely be celebrating something grin

Celebrate their hard work, determination and the way which they have dealt with it all today - that's just as important as the grades they got if not more so; you can get good grades and be a wet blanket or you can miss the grades and really prove what a strong, determined person you are and I bet there are a lot of young people who, thanks to the stupidity of the system we have, who have done just that today - celebrate them all.

Etaina · 17/08/2017 19:27

Dd got an email about an hour ago from her insurance saying that she has been offered a place! She is over the moon. The email says that Ucas Track has now been updated to 'unconditional' but there is no change. Now she is worried that they've emailed her an offer by mistake. Oh dear...the stress isn't over yet!

Abra1d · 17/08/2017 19:45

🥂🍾Etaina!

user9512736123 · 17/08/2017 19:46

Excellent news! If she's really worried take a screens shot for her so she's got it to look at if they change it - they won't of course!
