Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

OP posts:
tobee · 17/08/2017 08:20

Waiting in the car outside school. DS doing his stuff. So happy for everyone dc that got what they wanted. Thinking of all who didn't have good news or uncertain.

Auntpetunia2015 · 17/08/2017 08:20

Holding tight liney I'll try not to dig my nails in. DS sounded so down ...I'm finding it hard to not drive up and find him.

PurplePotato · 17/08/2017 08:23

Aargh, DS has logged onto track and his firm hasn't replied. Now at school waiting in a queue for advice from school. They won't release A level result until 9am - double aargh. Well done to all your DC who have places sorted.

LineysRun · 17/08/2017 08:24

The irony is that DS's grades are better than mine were at A level, and back then I just breezed into my first choice course at Newcastle. It's a funny old world.

tobee · 17/08/2017 08:32

It's is indeed liney . Mind you I did retakes and went through clearing so I definitely know how it is to get bad news when others are celebrating all around you. In fact my best friend, who was a year younger, got all a grades and. Sad

bebumba · 17/08/2017 08:40

Good news here. Ds is off to his first choice Chemistry at Sheffield.
Good luck to those still waiting to here. To those who didn't get the news that they wanted I will be thinking of you today xx

Auntpetunia2015 · 17/08/2017 08:44

Still no email...is this a problem?

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2017 09:02

AuntP, DD hadnt got an email when she looked at Track - no idea if its a problem or if shes got one now.

Congrats to all those who got their firm/insurance/have found somewhere in clearing.

DD has confirmed place at Firm on Track and has just gone in to collect grades. It all seems a bit unreal after not enough sleep!

Auntpetunia2015 · 17/08/2017 09:12

Yeah. btm place confirmed on tracking so just wait and see now. School are sending the EPQs back to be remarked as they have all come back failed or really low. When from the mark scheme school had and head of year marking them they had As and Bs. He's not a happy HOY! DS v v happy now and in 4 weeks he's off to Preston to do film production...

OhTheRoses · 17/08/2017 09:15

Offer met and place confirmed. Reviewing options as we have the triumph of hope over expectations. I don't want to sound smug but she has been very unwell since about 15, even having to redo Yr 12.

It is as much about her recovery for us as it is about the achievement. 18 months ago I doubted she'd even get through 6th form.

LineysRun · 17/08/2017 09:35

Some lovely successes here. Well done.

How are you doing, AuntPetunia and Tobee? DS took the risk and rejected Zoology at Exeter (!) - he really wants to do Biomedical Science. He's in Clearing now, on phone, sounding more confident thank goodness. (I'm lurking.)

ErrolTheDragon · 17/08/2017 09:40

Heck, you're entitled to an extra dose of pride, roses!

Glad it sounds like he's cheered up, AuntP.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/08/2017 09:44

Good luck liney - I reckon he's wise not to accept the zoology if its not what he wants to do. The news is saying lots of good places in clearing, that its a 'buyers market'...

OhTheRoses · 17/08/2017 09:45

Thank you Errol. She's singing. Entered 6th form predicted 3B's. Came out with 3A*. Most of her issues have been around anxiety and depression due to low self esteem. Really hoping this is the final turning point. She barely dropped a mark in two subjects xx

I am very emotional!

ono40 · 17/08/2017 09:45

Well done to all the DCs who have confirmed their places or have got going with a Plan B - as a Plan B product myself, the ability to face up to disappointments and move on is an invaluable life skill.

DS got two A stars and an A so is well chuffed, despite his predictions of doom and gloom. I expect I won't see him now until the weekend.

OhTheRoses · 17/08/2017 09:46

Oh and hugs to all tearing their hair out. We have been there. FlowersCakeWine

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 09:47

Errol! Well Done to your DD Smile She will adore Cambridge.

Roses, congratulations to your DD too.

These teens work so hard, and there is so much pressure on them to do well.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 09:48

Great news ono Smile

Auntpetunia2015 · 17/08/2017 09:54

liney. All good here now. Place accepted on insurance, which is same course just over 4 years not three.
DS on computer waiting for email and occasionally shouting ...yeah I know uni ha!

Fingers crossed for anyone still dealing with clearing.

aginghippy · 17/08/2017 09:56

DD got AAA, so missed her firm offer of A*AA. Her Track has not updated, so they must still be deciding. She phoned them, but didn't get through, had to leave a message.

Completely nerve wracking!

LineysRun · 17/08/2017 09:58

Errol, everywhere he's phoned so far through Clearing has made him an offer! We're not anal about RG as it's Biomedical Sciences with a year in industry that he's aiming for - and I'm chuffed at how well he's handling this.

Now I'm worrying about finding accommodation. Grin

Abra1d · 17/08/2017 09:59

Liney providence clearly working. He's going to be just fine.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 10:02

Fingers crossed for her aging. It's such a stressful experience.

Liney, I told you he'd have options Wink All will be well. Flowers

Abra1d · 17/08/2017 10:05

Aging fingers crossed for you. I know what's it like.
