Exam season starts....

Is she 'all revisioned out' Aria?

Fairenuff · 06/06/2015 19:34

My dd has had a few days off too Atia. It's worrying but she has no sense of urgency. I try to remind myself that she's been revising steadily for a long time now and needs to pace herself. But it's not easy is it.

circular · 06/06/2015 21:48

DD also lost some momentum this week. Think friends she has been revising with have too. Saying today nothing seems to be sinking in.
Usually has Sunday off, but think she may try and do some as got so little done today. Kicking off on Tuesday with Maths M1, first of 4 this week.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/06/2015 21:56

Apparently she has done some Memrise so not a complete washout. Yeah, I think she just hit a wall. Hopefully it'll mean she's full of renewed vigour tomorrow.

Sending wishes of endurance and perseverance to all in the same boat!

HocusUcas · 06/06/2015 22:09

Just to say DS is doing a different board so he is right in the middle of things,

Still scary here but actually being half way throughout it sounds better.

All luck to every one

DD1 has already started hers with 2 retakes and M1 last week so is in total panic mode this weekend and refusing to take anytime off from revision apart from a half hour walk last night. DD2 finished AS exams yesterday so is in party mode this weekend Grin

welshpixie · 07/06/2015 07:29

Good luck for all of your DC's for tomorrow it will soon be over.
The graduation went brilliantly no technical hitches this year the weather was kind to us with the promised storm not appearing.I was very good and didn't cry but did have a lump in my throat when all the students paraded in. Her speech went down a storm and she had to stop a couple of times because of the applause.
Only 1 month to wait now for IB results, DD is going on holiday with her BF on Tuesday so we wont see her for 2 weeks, then she is back for 1 week and then we leave Germany for good, so just pack the whole house up, move across Europe and then I can relax ha ha!

circular · 07/06/2015 08:27

Hellsbells DD also started with 2 retakes here,
But the 3 week gap makes it feel like starting again lol!
She is now stressing that the 2 papers the week after next are the most difficult. but her head is so full of the content for the 4 this week, she's reluctant to do much on them just yet.

MrsBartlet · 07/06/2015 09:23

Dd has been up since 6 this morning and started revising at 6.30! I think she is very worried about history tomorrow. She has not been having much contact with friends, especially not her IB friends as they are all in holiday mode. We just realised that she hasn't been out of the house for 2 weeks other than for her driving lessons - not sure how healthy that is! She (and we) are counting down the days to it all being over.

Molio · 07/06/2015 09:37

History here too tomorrow - first exam. Fantastic weather for it Hmm. The pub up the road had a massively loud drum festival yesterday afternoon/ evening so the kids within earshot of that must have been in despair; it was mega (we live next to another pub which was being fairly sedate - just the usual whiff of beer and burbling voices, so fine for revision).

Good luck to all.

Molio · 07/06/2015 09:40

Having read your post MrsBartlet I've just called to DS to wake up for breakfast....

Fairenuff · 07/06/2015 11:01

Wow welshpixie that's a lot of organising to do! Are you coming to the UK?

Littleham · 07/06/2015 11:09

Glad the day went well welshpixie. Good luck with that house move. You must be exhausted.

It feels like we are all holding our breath today waiting for the guillotine to fall. A strange calm has descended.

Edexcel history tomorrow. This is the one she is very definitely not looking forward to. She's spent the last couple of days just muttering about the Missouri Compromise and seems to have developed a vocal tic that goes "Kansas Nebraska"

NiceCardigan · 07/06/2015 11:38

DS started on Friday with D1 which was an "odd" paper whatever that means! History tomorrow as well and is currently in the kitchen scribbling away while the rest of us sit out in the garden in the sunshine.

Mindgone · 07/06/2015 12:31

Biology here tomorrow, I think DS is so ready to just do them, and see the back of them! I can't remember the last day he had without studying! He's so excited for freedom! :)

Horsemad · 07/06/2015 13:46

NiceCardigan, DS did D1 and he said that unusually he thought he'd done better on S2 (which he sat immediately prior to D1). I'm just keeping my fingers X'd for a reasonable result in both!

welshpixie · 07/06/2015 14:37

Fairenuff Yes back to dear old Blighty. DD is going to Uni there and my job contract was up for re-newal so it seemed like a good time.
It is funny we started married life on the Wirral with no kids and we are going back there to be childless again. I think we have come full circleHmm

DS doesn't start till Tuesday, when he has M2.
He has informed me that due to the vagaries of the grade rules he can get an A* even if he only gets 30% in his M2, (as long as he gets 90% for his C3 and C4), so a gentle start then!

...and if I have to test any more French, Spanish or Scottish dates / treaties or idiot war happenings I shall need a shed load of Wine Wine Wine.

DD2 is VERY vocal with her revision. Everyone has to hear about it. Too much information.

Whereas dd3 has a mini force field to keep people away. Too little information.

circular · 07/06/2015 17:53

Seimun Yes Maths is a bit strange like that. Although the applied modules still count towards the overall 80% needed across AS and A2 to get either A or A*. So need to be a bit careful of geting too complacent on the applied, missing the 90% on C3 & C4 so also missing an A.

MrsBartlet · 07/06/2015 17:57

Haven't had to do any testing here but I have had to take part in many conversations about African American civil rights; women's rights and Native American rights. I have tried very hard to make sure my eyes are not glazing over as I know that she is consolidating everything she has learnt Grin
