Has anyone ever moved their DC to a different school and it not worked out?

Very briefly, DS (nearly 13) not settled at High School after starting in September. I have looked round a school today that was v nice, has places and seemed more suited. He has friends there. It's 12 miles away though.

Ideally I would like to move him but it's a huge commitment, travel wise.

However if he doesn't settle there-then what? DH not terribly in favour either.

Decisions, decisions. Sigh

Sparkling,I'm so pleased that he has decided.

I hope it all works out for him :)

He has a Germany trip from the existing school which he is keen to go on, so it will be one week at school, Germany trip then he transfers. Smile

He is on a waiting list for the Vacant Seat scheme on the coach. This goes from 6 miles away so fingers crossed. We will know in the summer if he can get a seat.

I will keep an eye on the sets, he is doing v well at the moment so keen he doesn't slide.

I can't believe it's all decided lance.

Well done sparkling. I read the thread yesterday and hoped he would choose the school. Will he start as soon as he returns from germany then?

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 01/06/2012 16:30

My DD is like your DS sparkling. She is at a school where she is keen to work and doesn't mess about. The "popular" children are the opposite. I have had numerous meetings as DD's problem has turned into full on bullying.

Sparklingbunting · 01/06/2012 16:41

Thanks Elephants, yes he will come back from Germany on the Friday and start new school on the Monday, Gives him 4 weeks to get a bit used to it before they break up for the summer.

Is there an alternative for your DD? Sad

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 01/06/2012 22:06

Not really sparkling :( she hasn't had the best start to life (abusive exh) the only other secondary here is in special measures. Not so keen on sending her there.
She cries over going to school and is just worried it will be worse than the day before.

Sparklingbunting · 01/06/2012 22:31

Oh Elephants, I'm sorry to hear that. Sad

TantrumsAndBalloons · 02/06/2012 11:15

Elephants, can she go to a school in a different borough but close by?

We moved out dd to a school in another borough as she was also bullied for being academic and tbh all the schools in our borough were pretty much alike.

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 11/06/2012 05:26

All other schools round here are awful. 1 out of five isn't in special meausures if I could afford private school I would send her there.
Life is so bloody hard. Our dc deserve the best life poSible.
