SQA results 2025

Starting a results thread early, and the last one I'll do as DD has now left school!

DD has an unconditional offer for uni so these grades don't make a difference but they still matter to us, especially after the C in History last year when she was on track for an A (bastard SQA). So hoping for a good grade for AH History.

She's also doing 2 other Highers, one of them we had to complain about the teachers (long process involving GTCS, LA and SQA, all upheld), so again really hoping the grade gives a right twos-up to that teacher.

Outwardly she doesn't seem to be stressing - more worried about passing her driving test than passing her exams, probably cause of the UC offer. But I know if she passes the subject with the godawful teacher she'll be emotional.

Hows everyone else's kids doing?

DD needs one B for uni. So that’s either a B for higher history or B higher business. Alternatively, it can be a D for advanced higher drama. Hopefully she’ll manage that—something would have to go very wrong if she doesn’t pass drama. Her teacher has predicted a B. There was no exam so hoping that’s accurate.

Hope it's ok to join here. my DS isn't in S6 , just finished S4 and waiting on Nat 5 results. he's absolutely fine but I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown worrying about it all. which I know is ludicrous as what will be will be. Were you worrying when yours were waiting for their nat5 results?

motheronthedancefloor · 26/07/2025 04:57

welcome, of course you can join! Yes N5s were a worry because it determines whether DC can do Highers / how many and influence their next steps. DD did find N5s a bit easier than Highers but then of course its a different level!

LoopyGremlin · 26/07/2025 11:49

I’m also awaiting N5 results with bated breath. 🤞

theresbeautyinwindysun · 26/07/2025 12:22

Awaiting higher results for S5 here. So much want DD to get what she hopes for as she ended up working so hard.

Ineedcoffeenow · 26/07/2025 14:05

I think I’m more nervous than DD. I don’t want to wish the summer away, but I’m getting very inpatient! 1.5 weeks to go.

Ineedcoffeenow · 26/07/2025 18:32

Whoops, should have said impatient !

Itawapuddytat · 26/07/2025 22:48

Waiting for Highers results for S5 here too. I think I am more worried than DS at the moment. But he worked hard, so hopefully the results will be good.

Toxictownie · 26/07/2025 23:21

Scottish teacher and marker here, don’t worry we also get nervous!😂😂

FNDandme · 26/07/2025 23:40

pulling in my chair for the 2025 results

ThatsNotMyTeen · 27/07/2025 00:19

Hello! Checking in

4th year in a row of awaiting SQA results here! Youngest son is in s5 and awaiting results of 3 highers.

I’ve always been a nervous wreck in the run up and never able to sleep the night before! Yes I was nervous of both s4 and s5. My eldest was a straight A-er in s4 and s5 so the worry was what if he doesn’t get all As. My youngest is a different kettle of fish as he has autism and so much of his education has been an absolute shitshow, even disregarding Covid which of course impacted everyone. To even be here having done 6 N5 and 3 highers is something we could never have imagined in primary school. He has worked quite hard so I just pray he ends up with something to show for it.

Good luck everyone

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 27/07/2025 06:39

Waiting on S6 results here. DC2 swings between relaxed (as already has an UC offer from uni) and nervous (wants to do well, mainly for pride reasons). This will be our last results day and I’ll be glad of that; it feels like it hangs over your whole summer and it’s hard to pretend to be unbothered for DCs’ sake! Good luck to everyone, especially those who need grades for uni or to get into the Higher/AH courses they want, but remember if it doesn’t work out there’s often another route to take to get there in the end.

ChocoChocoLatte · 27/07/2025 07:59

last of the schools aged DCs, waiting on S5 highers. Both her sisters are at uni and she’s desperate to join them ……

we have been birthday inbetween now and results day too, bless her.

good luck to the all

MsTimTam · 27/07/2025 18:11

Waiting on S6 results, dd needs 2 Bs from any of her 3 AHs to meet the conditions for her uni offer - she’s put the work in and all signs are that should be achievable but still nervous! She’s also got an unconditional offer as her insurance but her heart is set on her first choice.

In spectacularly bad planning, she’s got her driving test on the same day so it’s going to be a day of all the emotions. And then we start all over again with dd2 and her N5s next year.

Wishing everyone well for results day!

8misskitty8 · 27/07/2025 18:32

Last ever results day for us. Dd needs 2 C’s from her 3 highers as she has a conditional place to do computing science. Keeping everything crossed for her.

motheronthedancefloor · 27/07/2025 19:01

I'll be paying careful attention to the grade boundaries which I think come out the same day, that's always interesting, and I think interim local authority grading comes out too (eg what percentage in the LA got an A etc for a certain subject). In one of the subjects DD did this year, no one got above a C last year, with most failing and this is the teacher she's had issues with all year too.

Great to read about others' experiences in the past and for next week.

Gosh I didn't know that about the grade boundaries MOTDF - we live in a very deprived area with something ludicrous like 35% of students passing N5s at the end of S4(many don't sit till S5)

I need coffee-I'm the same -not wanting to wish the summer away but desperate for a week on Tuesday!

gracielooloo · 27/07/2025 20:51

I’ll join!
DD1 has just finished S5 and 5 Highers and DD2 is waiting on her Nat 5 results.
Hoping DD2 can get a B in maths so she doesn’t have to repeat in S5, she’s pretty nervous. DD1 hasn’t mentioned it, too busy working and partying!

cazzyg · 28/07/2025 13:15

Waiting for S5 results here. High predicted grades and high grades needed for DC's current planned uni course.

Nerves starting to kick in now!

Theonlyoneiknow · 29/07/2025 11:20

👋Hi! Feeling sick waiting for Nat5 results but we aren't expecting good enough passes for Highers. DS (ASN) really struggled and wasn't able to finish an exam - he left them all an hour early, and he found the English Paper 2 especially anxiety inducing with all the pressure to memorise quotes. I am worried about how this will impact his mental health. School also don't encourage resits so not sure where that will leave him!

RausageSoul · 29/07/2025 17:07

Joining in as I wait for nat5 results. I’m aware I am far too invested in the whole thing and am probably way more stressed than DD 😩

gracielooloo · 30/07/2025 09:37

@Theonlyoneiknow that sounds stressful. Are school allowed to ‘not encourage’ resits? Ours is admittedly a very poorly performing school but they have classes of S6 doing Nat 5 English and maths.
If DD2 doesn’t get a B for Nat 5 this year she plans to stick with her Highers in S5 and repeat Maths in S6, keeping everything crossed that doesn’t happen!

motheronthedancefloor · 30/07/2025 12:22

@RausageSoul that’s me too and DD used to get annoyed at what she called nagging about options choices, studying, ucas applications etc

but today she’s excitedly chatting about freshers week and the books and gadgets she’ll need cause she knows know that I care lol

Hi,
Only one DC, left school now (after S6) - working for now and not 100% sure what next. Already has decent results from S4/S5, so S6 results not crucial, however would be good to see the last year's work pay off. DC not particularly stressed, but would also like to see results from efforts.
Fingers crossed for everyone. 😃

Sounds stressful. The results might be a pleasant surprise? Failing that, are there any practical subjects he's better at, or anything that might interest him at college? Art? Photography? Wood or metal work? Cookery? Good luck.
