Hannah Bardell or Angela Crawley? Hannah lost her seat this past election; Angela's seat was eliminated/combined for 2024 and she chose not to stand elsewhere. (Not saying it is either of them, but potentially could be.)

When it comes to people criticizing the party (and that includes criticising Nicola Sturgeon's actions and inactions during her time as Leader and FM) I'd not necessarily expect much from those who are likely to want to stand for the SNP at Holyrood in 2026 - which I believe includes Mhairi Black (by her own admission) and I would not be at all surprised if it includes Joanna Cherry as she's been interested in serving as an MSP in the past.

Whoever it is, and whether it's true or just rumour, the fact is that there was/are lots of lesbian women in the SNP at high levels. And in Scottish politics as a whole.

motheronthedancefloor · 09/07/2024 07:44

I wonder if JC will now join another party? No doubt Alba, and maybe Labour are courting her.

VelvetKimono · 09/07/2024 07:46

Alba is finished, surely? They all lost their deposits.

BigBoysDontCry · 09/07/2024 07:47

JC has already openly criticised sturgeon and Blackford. I dislike her a little less than most and she doesn't appear to be overly stupid so she either knows that the guard is going to change and it doesn't matter, she isn't intending to stand for Holyrood or she let her emotions get the better of her.

If I had to put money on it, I'd still back Black for the comments.

As you say though it could definitely be others, we'll probably not find out.

Exactly. I don't think the vast majority of people really give a shit. Even at this late stage for NS it would be nothing more than a day in the newspapers. It's the lying and deception that's the issue.

VelvetKimono · 09/07/2024 08:32

No one cares, it’s just another bit of the fall of the party with sniping about all these things. I’m really curious to see what happens now.

The SNP supporters are all “hope you like paying for prescriptions and tuition fees” oblivious to the fact these things are devolved.

im still feeling hopeful for Scotland

BigBoysDontCry · 09/07/2024 08:34

Yeah I saw that too. It's just so depressing. I've stopped engaging with the shit on X as the algorithms just keep sending me more of it.

coffeebaconandrepeat · 09/07/2024 08:49

Well on the whole I'm wondering if the SNP have recognised that their whole not taking responsibility and blaming tories has undermined their own cause in the end?

The SNP have talked relentlessly as though tories are the biggest problem but people have decided voting them out was more effective than independence.

Help1needed · 09/07/2024 08:56

I'd forgotten about the implications of lots of unemployed MPs looking for a new job as we head into the candidate selection process for the 2026 election... V likely to increase the in-fighting!

VelvetKimono · 09/07/2024 08:57

Starmer meeting all the Scottish Labour MPs in Downing Street today

I thought the SNP blamed Westminster in general

They're free to carry on doing that, no?

coffeebaconandrepeat · 09/07/2024 09:30

Of Corine they are @Chersfrozenface - but it looks like this strategy is not working for them.
