It'll be nice to hear Scottish voices in Westminster not greetin' and whining - the SNP were an embarrassment.

I hope JC writes an article / book where it all comes out

We will hopefully not need to mourn the loss of Penny Mordaunt's speech writer.

Scottishskifun · 08/07/2024 10:31

😂 most of the papers make for an entertaining front page read!

RaraRachael · 08/07/2024 12:31

I just love that they're all fighting with each other and trying to apportion blame - couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people!

Let's hope Scottish labour do a good job in the next 2 years and the SNP rout continues at the Holyrood elections.

Joanna has not been holding back today 🔥. Loving loving loving them all fighting like ferrets in a sack . I wonder if someone will come out with the truth re Nicola throwing the iron out the window of the Balmoral 😂

Do tell me more!

Do tell me more!

I had to Google it and apparently NS threw an iron at her (female) lover in their hotel room at the Balmoral after NS found out she’d been cheating on her!

All denied of course…

Yes but is this just completely made up?

BigBoysDontCry · 08/07/2024 15:26

That's the point I guess, there are so many rumours and stories and they might be true or they might not, but it seems that either people aren't allowed to ask the questions, or the questions aren't asked so it ends up with constant speculation.

We know that all the party were basically told that you can't question or criticise within the party which is extremely unhealthy but successful in terms of creating control.

Everything I've read generally has some element of believability to it but also aspects where you think it must be bonkers. The most reaction you get is a tighter closing of NSs lips and a look of disdain. 🤷

RaraRachael · 08/07/2024 15:30

I'd heard a rumour from friend's DiL who works at Holyrood and swears it was 100% true.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/07/2024 15:57

I take it the Balmoral is a hotel. I was reading it as Balmoral Castle which would have been even more remarkable!

RaraRachael · 08/07/2024 15:59

Very posh hotel at the end of Princes Street in Edinburgh

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/07/2024 16:11

The North British! (I am old.) Got it.

😂 That would have made it even better!

Will always be the north British hotel to me. Although in this case there’s a rumoured French connection. Sacre bleu

RaraRachael · 08/07/2024 16:19

I'd heard about the French Connection but my source had a different name.

BigBoysDontCry · 08/07/2024 16:59

There's also the rumoured buying of Judy Murray's house in BofA which also has a French connection, rumour has it.

I know someone who sits on a national advisory group at Holyrood and the more-than-rumours of a lavender marriage have been circulating for a long time. It wouldn’t surprise me - just can’t understand the secrecy.

The Scottish parliament is fairly same-sex friendly. Ruth Davidson, Joanna Cherry, Kez Dugdale and Jenny Gilruth were all openly gay. Had anyone else in a senior position in government been gay, and of course I am not pointing fingers or naming names here, there would have been no stigma or issue - just one of many gay members of the parliament.

However, any politician whose public face/image is completely different from their private life is leaving themselves open to accusations of dishonesty. Being "in the closet" is also a huge issue for security services, not because of being gay, but because being secretive about it makes you more vulnerable to blackmail.

treadingonlego · 08/07/2024 17:57

I don't know anyone who knows anyone who knows anything, but I am here for it all to be true #truebeliever

I typed a post about this earlier but deleted it. Surely it's Manky Black?

VelvetKimono · 08/07/2024 19:08

it’s all so weird !

SirChenjins · 08/07/2024 20:18

Surely if it was Manky she’d just come out with it? She’s not known for keeping a thought in her head.

Lesbian former SNP MPs, Manky? Joanna Cherry? Not sure if there are any others?
