Only if they won. If they’re hammered then they’ll very quietly forget about that…

I understood they were using the results of the Scottish elections in 2019(?) to say that they have a mandate ?
happy to be corrected.,

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/07/2024 23:52

I am quite baffled that sturgeon agreed to appear on tv for the results. Either she's completely delusional or completely strapped for cash

Having met her a couple of times , she loves the sound of her own voice .

IHaveNeverLivedatTheCastle · 05/07/2024 00:03

It's definitely the former and possibly the latter. They aren't mutually exclusive.

That was replying to GargoylesofBeelzebub

Sturgeon's probably working on the assumption that any publicity is good publicity. She's still looking for her next opportunity internationally, and now that she's no longer leader and no longer even in government, the comparison of tonight's modest results versus the much better results of 2015, 2017, and 2019 possibly do make her look superficially good.

And so it begins. Lillian Jones elected as Labour MP for Kilmarnock & Loudoun.

Yay!

k1880 · 05/07/2024 03:13

Excited. If SNP can lose Kilmarnock then I am beginning to hope my constituency just might change too!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/07/2024 03:15

Labour gains Lothian East from SNP. Douglas Alexander back as an MP.

Same!
I'd love to lose Brendan O'Hara from Argyll and Bute.

NeedANewOne25 · 05/07/2024 03:45

Down 42 in the revised exit poll update

And it did - massive swing to labour. That wasn't seen as likely all the polls have had the SNP holding it. This is quite a night!

whatcom22 · 05/07/2024 04:16

Just tuning in to see edin seats come in.

Eastcoastie · 05/07/2024 04:25

Id previously have been pleased but with labours stance on tax and gender, im not sure who id rather have in Westminster between labour and the snp. As bad as each other sadly

Eastcoastie · 05/07/2024 04:26

And why is Sturgeon being interviewed on tv as a states figure? She is under criminal investigation?!

apples24 · 05/07/2024 04:32

John Nicolson is gone, that made my night.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/07/2024 04:51

Joanna Cherry's lost. That's a shame.

treadingonlego · 05/07/2024 04:57

It is a shame about Joanna Cherry, but this is glorious!! Single figures for the grifters!

whatcom22 · 05/07/2024 04:59

That's Deirdre brock off glad Tracy Gilbert won for labour in edin north and leith.

IHaveNeverLivedatTheCastle · 05/07/2024 05:02

Hurray ! Odious man

Misthios · 05/07/2024 05:19

Up at silly o’clock to see the SNP doing even worse than was predicted when I went to bed. Good times.

Did she really? I'm glad Deirdre has gone.

I KNOW !!! Absolutely ludicrous!

SirChenjins · 05/07/2024 06:33

Just waking up to this excellent news! Has Swinney claimed the shift is just because they haven’t delivered on independence yet? They always shift everything back to that.

Will we be better under Labour? Who knows. What I do know is that the SNP have failed us again and again and again - and the fact they had Sturgeon on while she’s under police investigation is just mind boggling.

It’s an anti Tory protest vote, it won’t be reflected in the Scottish Parliament election, we’re pleased with the results blah blah blah. They’ve had an absolute shocker. Saw Joanna Cherry interviewed and she said partly their obsession with identity politics, partly the overall labour swing, partly the sleaze and scandal.
