Sadly the SNP won in my and neighbouring area by a very small majority due to lots of Reform votes 🙄

motheronthedancefloor · 05/07/2024 07:06

oh happy day, oh happy daaaaaaaaaaaaaay

It’s an anti Tory protest vote, it won’t be reflected in the Scottish Parliament election, we’re pleased with the results blah blah blah. They’ve had an absolute shocker. Saw Joanna Cherry interviewed and she said partly their obsession with identity politics, partly the overall labour swing, partly the sleaze and scandal.

Absolutely agree with Cherry there - while the SNP have been busy marching with rainbow banners and complaining about not having independence they’ve completely neglected all the core devolved services. She’s one of the few competent ones who will be missed.

Thank goodness it will put an end to their independence obsession as well as all their other shite

VelvetKimono · 05/07/2024 08:02

I am feeling very happy. Might have a little celebration today. Hopefully that’s independence off the agenda for many a year

LadyDanburysHat · 05/07/2024 08:08

I was very pleasantly surprised to wake up to see a lot of Scotland had changed from yellow. I hope it does pass over to the Scottish elections although I doubt it.

Which constituncies ?

And why is Sturgeon being interviewed on tv as a states figure? She is under criminal investigation?!

My thoughts exactly. I had to look twice when I saw her on the screen, as I couldn't quite believe that she would even be considered to be invited.

Tomorrowisanewday · 05/07/2024 08:40

John Nicolson and Alyn Smith gone - happy days!

Although I don't share her politics, sad to see Joanne Cherry out. Despite the bullying from her own party, she always seemed to maintain her own integrity.

treadingonlego · 05/07/2024 08:40

Mhairi Black quoted as saying, "Blaming voters, or doing anything other than serious self reflection is precisely the kind of attitude that has turned so many away from the SNP.”
She's not wrong.

On a side note, I'm enjoying that not one Alba candidate even got their deposit back 😂

Merrilydancing · 05/07/2024 08:48

Let’s hope for the sake of Scotland that this is the wake up call for those at Holyrood to actually put Scotland first and focus on the real issues being faced rather than the constant whinge about all our ills being Westminster’s fault.

We have some serious issues which need addressing rather than wang on about independence.

And let’s hope that Labour doesn’t completely screw up in the next two years.

That, and the fact that they’re completely incompetent - a fact which would not have passed MB by had she not been so busy insulting huge swathes of the Scottish population.

Tracy Gilbert told me on the doorstep and by email that TWATW and that she will fight to protect single sex spaces. I hope she was being genuine. Scottish Labour may have done a volte face on gender ideology but the main Labour Party haven’t. So we’ll see. Bye bye Deidre!!

My new Labour MP said the same on the doorstep when I asked her.

Scottishskifun · 05/07/2024 09:14

I'm smuggly chuckling away to myself here very glad to see SNP get a hammering!

Aberdeen North and South, I'm guessing.

highlandcoos · 05/07/2024 09:31

Scotland has 80,000 Oil and Gas workers so it will be interesting to see how Labour executes its energy policy in Scotland, given that their net zero goal needs £500 billion in investment in the next 25 years. I'm expecting the usual - mainly support in the central belt.

IHaveNeverLivedatTheCastle · 05/07/2024 09:36

Also Aberdeenshire North where Reform voters allowed the SNP to take the seat from Douglas Ross.

Badly done.

It's the first time I've ever agreed with anything she said

RaraRachael · 05/07/2024 09:53

@IHaveNeverLivedatTheCastle the 2 Moray area constituencies.

Can't believe a deluded SNP diehard on my local page calling people scum and scabs for voting against them and telling them to hang their heads in shame

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 05/07/2024 09:55

Woohoo, 😂

LadyDanburysHat · 05/07/2024 09:57

My result is finally in, stayed Conservative, but lost a lot of votes as did the SNP candidate. Big uptake in Labour votes and unfortunately Reform.

Dearg · 05/07/2024 09:59

Not a fan of Keir, but oh so happy at the rout (sp?) of the SNP . Just sorry Flynn kept his seat .
its not very long until the next Scottish election, so hopefully the momentum continues.

LlynTegid · 05/07/2024 10:00

There was never going to be another independence referendum in this Parliament. The best argument against Scottish independence in any case is the SNP.

Still surprised how badly the SNP did.

Douglas Ross can go back to being a poor linesman upsetting Celtic or Rangers fans.
