This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

Farewell Blackman and Black!

@Ginny98 I used to always give the greens my second vote as I care about environmental issues. They've moved away from actual green issues now so I can't vote for them.

How anyone can vote for people that say such batshit things as , children as young as 8 should be allowed to change sex and that roads are just for white wealthy men is beyond me. 🙈

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 06/07/2024 11:17

@Ginny98 can you explain how GRR prevents discrimination and harassment? The Equality act already protects trans people from discrimination and harassment.

Misthios · 06/07/2024 11:18

Believing that trans people should be free from harassment and discrimination.

I am COMPLETELY on board with that. Live as you want, dress as you want, have sex with who you want. Nobody should be hassled or attacked (physically or verbally) for who they are. These rights are already enshrined in law for all of us.

However supporting those sorts of "trans rights" does not mean accepting that Isla Bryson is, or will ever be, a woman.

Believing that trans people should be free from harassment and discrimination.

So supporting gender recognition reform, for example

GRR is self id.

A policy, imbedded by activists into Scottish civic life, which led to a 'before the law' placing of violent male sex offenders in the female prison estate, has led to defunding of single sex rape crisis services across Scotland due to institutional capture and had the Scottish Greens vote en masse against the six words amendment of the Forensic Medical Examiner Services Bill.

Why does believing that trans people should be able to live without harassment and discrimination include allowing anyone to change sex markers on legal documents with no oversight (which creates massive loopholes in background checks) and the push by activists to decimate the single sex exemptions as detailed in the EQA 2010?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 06/07/2024 11:38

I seriously don't understand how anyone can be in favour of self Id when there are issues such as this in countries that have implemented it:

nypost.com/2023/12/15/news/50-year-old-transgender-woman-shared-pool-locker-room-with-young-girls-at-race/

GRR means we abandon all safeguarding and allow males like this where our daughters are undressing with no way to keep them out. It's incredibly dangerous for females, present to keep some gatekeeping.

redfacebigdisgrace · 06/07/2024 11:39

@Ginny98 ah the trans rights argument. What rights don’t they have already? I’d be really interested to hear that. Because self-id tramples all over women’s rights. If you allow self id then by definition (biological) women’s rights are impacted. 🤷‍♀️

redfacebigdisgrace · 06/07/2024 11:41

Very true @GargoylesofBeelzebub and it’s not just about safety, it’s also about dignity.

Liverpoolma123 · 06/07/2024 11:54

Angus MacDonald ( new MP for Inverness) donated £40,000 to the Tories when Theresa May was in charge and at several other times.

How depressing. People will have no clue he's a Tory dressed up as a Lib Dem.

Misthios · 06/07/2024 14:10

They do have internet and newspapers and everything in the Highlands you know.

flyingwingsabove · 06/07/2024 14:14

This really made me laugh.

VelvetKimono · 06/07/2024 14:19

I do not think that even the most ardent TRAs truly think Isla Bryson should be in a women’s jail.

he’s not trans, he’s a predatory man, playing the system. Well, trying to. BUT self id would mean that he would have to be in the women’s jail. And that is the problem with it.

Waitwhat23 · 06/07/2024 14:31

Quote from James Morton of the Scottish Trans Alliance who were the main advisors for the Scottish Prison Service's Transgender Policy, set in 2014 and only recently (barely) reviewed this year. Please note that no women's groups/female prisoner groups or representatives were consulted in regards to either iteration of the policy -

‘We strategized – we strategized – that by working intensively with the Scottish Prison Service to support them to include trans women as women on a self-declaration basis within very challenging circumstances, we would be able to ensure that all other public services should be able to do likewise’.

This policy included prisoners like Isla Bryson. The current policy would have included the 'most violent prisoner in Scotland', the late Tiffany Scott.

Believing that trans people should be free from harassment and discrimination.

So supporting gender recognition reform, for example

As long as any rights don’t impinge my right to assert that any person/animal with a penis is male and has no right to be in a female space, we’re all good

Ginny98 · 06/07/2024 14:50

Then we are very much not good

redfacebigdisgrace · 06/07/2024 15:45

How do you square that circle @Ginny98 assuming you’re a woman. Do you genuinely believe TWAW? You don’t believe in biology? You think that dysphoric males should be in women’s spaces? Despite women telling you we don’t want them there? Why do these men’s wishes trump ours? I’m genuinely interested in the argument. Up until now it’s TWAW/no debate/ you are bigoted. Well that’s what Lorna Slater emailed me anyway. Please can you expand?

PrimalLass · 06/07/2024 16:22

So supporting gender recognition reform, for example

So any male person being legally female by self declaration and paying a small fee? That should never be a right.

Jeezitneverends · 06/07/2024 17:13

Ginny98 · 06/07/2024 14:50

Oh well, too bad🤷🏼‍♀️
