This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

Farewell Blackman and Black!

Apparently the missing postal votes also a conspiracy

Ha! She's spoken to you too then?! 😂

I also noted that that poll was based on results from adults age 16 and over when only over 18 can vote in a GE. Fingers crossed it's wrong. Savanta/Scotsman polls are generally in the normal range of the polls on Independence rather than being an SNP funded outlier. I guess in less than 48 hours we will know.

Had to laugh when we got the Tory campaign leaflet through. The first page just says “vote for (prospective MP name)” with no info on what party she was from. The second and third pages were about what “we” would do if elected but nothing about what party this we referred to. The fourth page mentioned conservatives buried in the text and there was a tiny conservative logo on the fifth and sixth pages. Really seems like they know the tories are not liked in my area so trying to convince people on the candidate alone.

Better than the year both the Lib Dem’s and the tories sent round leaflets saying “only we can beat the SNP”, statistically one of them must have been wrong.

That’s the same as the leaflet we got through. Thought she was an independent until the end

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 03/07/2024 22:26

I still have no clue who to vote for! Every political party has major ‘no’ aspects and there’s no independent candidate. I’m politically homeless but feel I should vote 🫣

Lookingtodate · 03/07/2024 23:25

I met my Labour candidate at a fete and she seemed nice understood no pictures , a Sanwar flunky then spoke to me later ( I was manning a stall) and when I said we are cross party so no pictures please he was so disparaging that it put me off the man he was representing. At another fete same stall Annabelle Goldie was so lovely although I could never bring myself to vote Tory. So I'm undecided but very very glad that Ms Black is not standing. seen her in person again at fetes lol definately gives me ned vibes

motheronthedancefloor · 04/07/2024 07:00

I might stay up just to see Nippy's reaction.
I am going to have to hold my nose and vote Labour, even though I don't know what 'change' they offer other than blue to red, nor do they know what a woman is. However, the only other party likely to win here is SNP and they will never get my vote. Any other party is a wasted vote.

mibbelucieachwell · 04/07/2024 07:22

A spreadsheet of polls has my constituency as a narrow win for the Lib Dems. I had thought they were widely predicted to win comfortably and was going to vote for another party but now I'm undecided about whether to vote tactically. Aaaagh.

LoopyGremlin · 04/07/2024 07:24

That's me voted. Went for Labour as it's a straight fight between Labour and SNP.

Jeezitneverends · 04/07/2024 07:50

It’s a tactical vote for me, I’m not a natural labour voter, but anything to get the SNP out!

Liblabflipflop · 04/07/2024 08:25

Yeah, finally decided to vote labour to try and oust the snp - my local labour candidate seems good. Nice day for it. I'd vote otherwise if we had PR bit we don't....

apples24 · 04/07/2024 08:33

Latest polls showing SNP up have absolutely solidified my decision to vote Labour.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/07/2024 08:35

My postal vote is for Labour.

At one point I was wishing I had stuck it in the recycling rather than the post box given Starmer's flip flopping over gender bullshit. Given the pollls I'm now glad I voted for Labour. Let's see tomorrow if I still feel that way. 😬

yellowridinghood · 04/07/2024 10:46

So many voting to keep the SNP out. It would be interesting to see how the political landscape would change in a proportional representation system. We would have to vote for who we want, rather than who we don’t want. We’d have to read manifestos etc and come to our own conclusions, rather than just blindly voting for who is best placed to keep the SNP out.

Awrite · 04/07/2024 11:02

The SNP candidate turned up all smiles at my polling station as I was leaving. I feel a bit guilty as I said to them it was the first time I was not voting SNP. Bit mean of me. Then I remembered how angry the SNP has made me.

treadingonlego · 04/07/2024 11:24

Tactical Labour vote from me today. Here's hoping...

Wbeezer · 04/07/2024 11:44

I'm voting Labour, weird new constituency boundary, Dunfermline and Dollar 🙄, Labour guy seems OK.
Had a wobble due to KS announcing absolutely no chance of rejoining any EU blocks in the foreseeable, DH and I run a specialist manufacturing company who's growth has stopped due to Brexit. No parties seem bothered about smaller exporting businesses, not enough of a share of the total economy but quite a lot of individuals affected.
I'll vote Labour this time to get SNP out but probably Lib Dems next time.

It's not necessarily blindly voting for most. I always voted Labour since age 18. The euphoria I felt on that morning in May 97 almost equalled that of when i had my DC years later 😁. The last couple of times I've voted I've voted Tory to get rid of the SNP and to be fair, the Tory candidates both at a local and national level have been more responsive and harder working than the labour ones and the SNP have been completely invisible unless it's a photo opportunity.

I'll be voting Labour again this time since they are best placed to get rid of the lazy odious SNP incumbent. However, the Labour candidate has form for being a lazy git too. Technically I'm politically homeless. I don't agree with any of the parties manifestos'. I support some of some of them, but they are all lacking and we know that SNP can't deliver anything regardless.

I actually think that if someone capable like Ruth Davidson had created a libertarian type watered down conservative scottish party they may have had some success in uniting tories, lib dems and aspects of labour into a cohesive non separatist party. All i want really is a competent hard working administration of people who try their best for the population, help people to help themselves and support business to achieve. That's not too much to ask is it?

apples24 · 04/07/2024 13:04

I'd vote for your party @BigBoysDontCry

mibbelucieachwell · 04/07/2024 14:02

It's been a quiet morning according to the lady at the front door I spoke to at my polling station in Mid Dunbartonshire (lord knows where east Dunbartonshire is supposed to be located, but hey ho). Postal votes , from people who managed to get a postal vote are higher than usual apparently, so maybe that's why.

East Dunbartonshire council put out a facebook post yesterday afternoon advertising their provision for postal voters who didn't get their ballot paper. IIRC their ballot slips can be filled up until 5pm today but must be done in person. A fat lot of good that's going to do the vast majority of disenfranchised postal voters. Not a good advert for EDC in my opinion.

SloaneStreetVandal · 04/07/2024 14:50

Its a two horse race in my constituency between Labour and SNP, so I voted tactically for Labour. My husband is a lifelong SNP voter, and he too opted for Labour this time.
I'm hoping Starmer will read the room and not attempt any SNP style 'progressive' shit with the rights of women and girls.

treadingonlego · 04/07/2024 15:16

apples24 · 04/07/2024 13:04

I'd vote for your party @BigBoysDontCry

Me too. It doesn't seem much to ask either <sigh>

I live quite near the polling station and Labour have just come knocking again - which seems very sensible, to get those still feeling a bit apathetic or unsure out of the door and there before they change their minds.
