This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

Farewell Blackman and Black!

Has anyone seen any polls predicting Scottish results?

Disc0mbobulated · 02/07/2024 13:55

I've only seen the poll for my constituency (SNP hold 🙄), not for the whole country.

Thank you.

I can’t believe I’m still stuck with Steven Flynn for another four years!! He is more concerned about Gazza then Aberdeen.

Yeah, that's my DSs constituency. He won't be voting for him.

I have the delightful Alyn Smith that on the current polling might be out on his ear. I'd be so fucking delighted if that happens.

Misthios · 02/07/2024 18:59

I really really hope electoral calculus is right. 15 seats for the nationalists!! Even if it’s wrong and it’s 20-25 that’s an AMAZING result.

BigBoysDontCry · 02/07/2024 19:04

Yeah, I wonder what the margin for error is? I so hope it's at least that bad for them.

OllyBJolly · 02/07/2024 22:06

I must be a neighbour of yours @BigBoysDontCry as we share the pain of the odious Alyn Smith. Interestingly, the only canvassers around here have been the SNP. The polling I've seen says he'll hold.

BigBoysDontCry · 02/07/2024 22:09

Yep, up until recently that was the polls that I was seeing too. I'm hoping he gets beat. Slimey gobshite. I've not seen the SNP but then I'm "on the list" I think... 😂

I've had Labour round but no one else.

Gingerkittykat · 02/07/2024 22:46

The postal vote shambles keeps rumbling on in Fife. They have set up emergency places where you can go and get your postal vote pack and fill it in there and then. The problem is there are not enough places and there are waits of up to 2 hours and they are obviously inaccessible to many people.

22% of voters had postal votes in the last election, it looks like that percentage of lost votes could change the results. I wonder what will happen in a marginal seat where postal votes could have changed the outcome?

Can't stand Smyth.

I'm in Fife. No one's been to my door.

Liverpoolma123 · 03/07/2024 08:12

Boris Johnson is being rolled out today in order to spur on Tory voters.

Same here, and the weather was awful yesterday so I gave him bonus points for that.

I am buzzing for the SNP getting an absolute tanking.

kikisparks · 03/07/2024 08:22

Had to laugh when we got the Tory campaign leaflet through. The first page just says “vote for (prospective MP name)” with no info on what party she was from. The second and third pages were about what “we” would do if elected but nothing about what party this we referred to. The fourth page mentioned conservatives buried in the text and there was a tiny conservative logo on the fifth and sixth pages. Really seems like they know the tories are not liked in my area so trying to convince people on the candidate alone.

Better than the year both the Lib Dem’s and the tories sent round leaflets saying “only we can beat the SNP”, statistically one of them must have been wrong.

Igneococcus · 03/07/2024 10:37

Here in Northern A&B you wouldn't know that there's an election on unless you follow the news. There are some lonely SNP signs flapping on a few lampposts, some have a LibDem sign underneath now. There were a few leaflets in the mail but they were delivered with a bunch of other ads and I almost put them unnoticed into the recycling. No canvassers at all at my door.

Jeezitneverends · 03/07/2024 11:06

Not much obvious in my part of Dundee, our SNP idiot is standing down (thank god) and we’re a new constituency with part of Arbroath 🙄 so hoping like hell the SNP don’t get in here.

No door knockers here, which I’m actually quite disappointed about as I’m ready with my “what is a woman” question 🤣

SloaneStreetVandal · 03/07/2024 11:17

Looks like the SNP is in for a very bad night! I was going to avoid ITV's coverage because chief mammy is (inexplicably) on their panel, might watch after all to see the little creep squirm! Though no doubt she'll be blaming everyone but herself...
In my area Labour is on course to take a massive swing, and swipe the seat from the SNP (I'm not a huge fan of Labour, but they're certainly the lesser of two evils). I may have to grit my teeth and vote for them tactically (I've actually chatted with the guy standing, and tbf he comes across very well).

But with first past the post this doesn’t really mean much. Thr SNP spin machine will be on it though, wondering how to twist ANY result into a clear mandate blah blah blah

Possibly, though for her I think it's probably more the kudos.

The part I can't understand is why ITV wanted her! Apparently Tom Bradby approached her personally 😕

BigBoysDontCry · 03/07/2024 12:41

No doubt any losses will be blamed on the fact that SHE isn't in charge, the biased media, Westminster, racism, anti trans/terfs, the weather etc etc etc

VelvetKimono · 03/07/2024 12:44

Apparently the missing postal votes also a conspiracy

She will have personally spoken to everyone at every airport, ferry terminal, and at the borders to know that all those who missed a postal vote were SNP voters.
