This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

I think Rishi did a good job last night . Highlighting the fact that he’s only been there 18 months and economy is now ahead of all the other G 7 countries . Admittedly it needs to grow a lot more but at least we lead the pack . He also pointed out he warned what would happen when Liz Truss was voted in and it all came to pass . For the 2 months after her reign if you fixed your mortgage then you were punished but after that inflation / Ukraine / energy costs took over and rates would have gone up anyway .
So when he tells the truth about Labours financial plans then I’d be inclined to listen . Plus he believes in biological sex .

In Scotland to get the SNP out of Westminster we need to vote Conservative.
Wings have a piece on tactical voting and even he who loathes the Tory’s and everything they stand for ( except biological sex and calling out the gender nonsense ) says hold your nose and vote Cons if you truly love Scotland.

Or Labour as only the Unionists are going to remove SNP

Or Lib Dem's?

"In Scotland to get the SNP out of Westminster we need to vote Conservative."

We really don't need to. It depends on the constituency. Tories of course push the above line, including in my constituency, where based on 2019 results Labour would have limited chance against SNP. Based on 2024 polling, they have a better chance than Tories.

Misthios · 27/06/2024 15:22

In Scotland to get the SNP out of Westminster we need to vote Conservative.

That's not true though as a blanket statement. If your main aim for this election is to get the SNP out, then you vote tactically according to the situation in your particular constituency.

If you live in (for example) Aberdeenshire West & Kincardine, or Dumfriesshire Tweedsdale and Clydesdale then yes, your best tactical option to beat the SNP is Conservative. But in vast swathes of the Central belt, Labour is the tactical choice. In my area (Mid Dunbartonshire) and also Caithness or NE Fife, it's Lib Dem.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/06/2024 15:30

Also, @annabelindajane The UK economy appears to be doing relatively well as it dipped more than other G7 economies .
The line that we are the fourth largest exporters is also misleading as we count the sale of gold as exports. Many other countries don't count this in their stats.

DD in the new constituency of Mid Dunbartonshire got her proxy vote today btw.

VelvetKimono · 28/06/2024 09:25

David Griffiths Erudite4Unity on Twitter has loads on who to vote for to defeat the SNP in each constituency

I know quite a lot of people who applied for a postal vote due to being on holiday and none have arrived . We are on holiday just now so that's 3 missing votes.

General elections should never be arranged for school summer holidays.

QueryA · 28/06/2024 14:11

I applied in May and mine came through fine. I should have done DH’s for him but I was pushing back on wife work so
left him to do it, so it wasn’t applied for until mid June. Nevertheless I think a lot of people will miss out and there may be consequences. Or at least bitter recriminations

annabelindajane · 28/06/2024 14:11

Labour does not wish to issue any more oil licences and intends to cover Scotland in wind turbines and unsightly pylons .They will rip through the planning process . They are also dodgy on the gender stuff . We need the oil and the oil jobs . The majority of ‘green’ jobs renewables provides are in
China not here in Scotland . We have more turbines than we need and they will never produce cheap electricity. Expensive energy destroys business.Germany has discovered this to its cost and now going along nuclear lines which we must do too .
The whole GB energy company is not as it seems , it’s an investment machine . Agree vote whoever will get snp out is priority but be aware Labour is not terribly interested in Scotland and if we loose these oil jobs and associated tax then game over .

medianewbie · 29/06/2024 08:05

@apples24 I'm in SB. Just saw that my local Council are open 9-2 today & tomorrow for 'replacement' postal vote packs ('if you then receive your postal pack this week please return it by Royal Mail'). WHAT a mess !!

VelvetKimono · 29/06/2024 08:51

Also South Lanarkshire

apples24 · 29/06/2024 09:18

What a shower of sh* this has already been organisationally...

Misthios · 29/06/2024 09:56

Council incompetence? Or Royal Mail? Or both?

medianewbie · 29/06/2024 11:32

Council incompetence? Or Royal Mail? Or both?

Both probably. But it won't take long for whoever loses, especially if by a whisker, to start shouting 'conspiracy' 😔

BigBoysDontCry · 29/06/2024 12:31

We still have all the SNP numpties all over Twitter/X going on about using a pen since they think their votes were changed if they were made in pencil. Yes of course that's exactly what happened as all the corrupt people at the count were anti SNP/independence and none of the separatists would ever dare do such a thing... 🙄

They wuz robbed ah tell ya....

annabelindajane · 29/06/2024 15:40

And did you hear John Swinney blaming all Scotlands ills at Ministerial question on Margaret Thatcher ?

Comical but doubtless to appeal to their supporters .

VelvetKimono · 29/06/2024 20:58

Viewers of a nervous disposition look away now.. wtaf are the snp doing..??? 😂🙈😱
